Pink Freeze is another I’ve hit pan on. I have Pink Venus and Swish too. Sushi Flower I had but gave away because mine was always so hard to get the color to show up.
Jest is a lovely light color that I’m close to hitting bottom on. I looooove Vapour. It’s so flattering and yet barely there. I just got vex and I like it 🙂

Your swatch posts got me wanting 2 eyeshadows right now, Passionate and Hepcat. But I can only afford 1 right now because of all of the Colour Craft/Graphic Gardens/Love That Look stuff that I’m buying. So in your opinion, which eyeshadow do you think I should get first?

DevilishDoll Avatar

Nope, I don’t have anything that is similar to either one. I like the color of Hepcat more than Plum Dressing though, it seems slightly different. I think maybe I’ll get Passionate this time then next month I’ll get Hepcat…maybe…GAH! It’s always so hard for me to decide, lol. Thanks for your opinion. =)

Thanks so much for all these swatches christine. You don’t know how much this helps me. I’m new to mac shadows and it’s great to not have to search all over the internet for swatches.

aH!!! I so want Jest now!!!! My retrospeck does NOT have payoff like that…a lot of fallout. I’m kinda disappointed with it and Gleam. Sushi flower and passionate seems to look warmer on your skin…and i had mentioned in the yellow post Nylon and Goldmine look more yellow on me, but the greens are true. why would this be? Possibly because my skin is more olive, i’m not as warm toned as you, brown/auburn hair, green brown eyes. somewhere in the cool/olive/neutral zone depending on the season.

Christine Avatar

Hey Brenda,

Retrospeck has a lot of fall out when I use a brush. When I use a sponge-tip applicator, there’s definitely a lot less fall out, because it gets packed into the skin more!

I’m naturally warmer toned, so that might be why both of those look warmer on me 🙂 Everything is going to be a little different because of the variation in our skin color.

Was just wondering which would be the best highlight, you’ve seemed to help/respond to everyone else, hopefully you can respond to me as well 🙂
Great swatches btw.

I’m NC25/30, eurasian – so im yellow and red ;p lol

I’ve narrowed it down to
Phloof
Jest/Naked Lunch . . . they seem similar?
Ricepaper.

TIA!

Christine Avatar

Ricepaper will be the best – it’s very soft, natural, and not too frosty. Phloof! is a bit white and stark, also very frosty – not my fave for a highlight. I’m NC25 myself and LOVE Ricepaper! Naked Lunch is a little lighter than Jest, but they’re similar. You could use those as highlighters, too, but I think Ricepaper is more of a universal one.

Maria Avatar

Oh wow, thank you for such a quick response, unfortunately my local MAC was out of ricepaper so i opted for nylon which i’m super happy with 🙂
I also felt Phloof! was kind of more on the white/pinky side which i didnt like too much, and naked lunch was too dark!
Thank you though so much, this site is wonderful, it was the first mac shadow i’ve bought and i have your wonderful site to thank for making it so easy!
I literally walked into the counter and was able to guess the colours from your swatches!
Keep up the good work 🙂

hey Christine!!
need your help… i have decided on getting the four palette and need you help deciding the colors 🙂

so far i have decided…

Jest, Paradisco, and woodwinked so far.. any recommendation for me i am a new mac user!!

what i already have is goldmine, steamy, humid and plum dressing (pigments: cool capers holiday and sexpot)

Dear Christine,

I absolutely LOVE your blog. Its the most helpful place EVAR!
I have a question, hopefully you’ll be able to help me out. I want some good neutral eyeshadows by mac. I already have nanogold, straw harvest, mythology, woodwinked, twinks and black tied. Can you recommend some other ggod ones. I’m 18 and I don’t like matte eyeshadows. Also, should I get carbon?

Eesha Avatar

Hey Christine… I have Jest and i really love the shade in the pan… but it kinda turns whitish/ bluish pink on my eyelids. (I am NC 40 for reference.) I wear UDPP or Painterly PP underneath. I need your suggestion to warm it up a lil bit as warmer colour look better on me.

Devi Avatar

I’m so thankful for all of these swatches! I’m looking for a very soft pink, but my skin is tan/brown and so some of the nicer colors never look good on me. I was wondering, do you think Girlie would be good for my skin tone? I’ve never tried a MAC foundation, but I am a “true beige” in Revlon ColorStay Foundation.

Thanks for any help!

I have green eyes and fair skin, but I get tanner in the summer. Do you think swish would look crazy on me, or do you think I should go for something else. If you think i should go for something else, what would you suggest?
