MAC Ever Amethyst Mineralize Eyeshadow Duo Review, Photos, Swatches
MAC Ever Amethyst Mineralize Eyeshadow Duo
MAC Ever Amethyst Mineralize Eyeshadow Duo ($22.00 for 0.07 oz.) is one of three new (and permanent!) shades available in the updated Mineralize Eyeshadow Duo range. (I will review the other two new duos soon!) The Mineralize Eyeshadow formula is supposed to be sheer when used dry, more intense when used with a dampened brush, as it is a wet/dry formula. Both halves of the duo had soft, slightly powdery, textures that felt finely-milled and were easy to blend on the lid. Using either shade with a dampened brush helped to minimize the powderiness of the formula.
Ever Amethyst #1 is described as a “soft violet.” It’s a medium-dark, plummy brown with a soft, golden shimmer and sheen. Applied dry, it had semi-sheer coverage and felt a bit more powdery, and then applied with a dampened brush, it applied more smoothly and looked slightly more shimmery. The color wore well for seven hours before starting to fade. Tom Ford Beauty Orchid Haze #3 (P) is less shimmery, lighter. MAC Great Beyond #1 (LE, $21.00) is cooler-toned. NARS China Seas #2 (P, $24.00) is darker, more plum. MAC A Medley of Mauves #3 (P, $21.00) is darker, more plum. Chanel Quadrille #1 (LE) is more plum, less shimmery. Makeup Geek Twilight (P, $5.99) is lighter. theBalm Just This Once Jamie (P, $16.00) is similar. MAC Universal Appeal (LE, $21.00) is less brown. MAC Shale (P, $15.00) is less shimmery, cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Ever Amethyst #2 is described as a “deep violet.” It’s a medium-dark, warm-toned reddish plum with a soft, pearly sheen. It was semi-opaque applied dry, and it was fully opaque and smoother when applied with a dampened brush. On me, this shade started to fade after seven hours of wear. NARS Desdemona (P, $29.00) is less red. Anastasia Pink Sapphire (LE) is darker. Makeup Geek Enchanted (P, $6.99) is more shimmery. Sleek MakeUP A Vow in Venice (LE, $9.99) is cooler-toned. Lancome Colour du Jour (P, $19.00) is darker, browner. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

The shades are so pretty. Somehow me and mineralize e/s dont get along too well! 🙁
I don’t get along that well with them either!
This one looks gorgeous in the pan, and in the swatches. I think I might pick this one up.
It’s one of the more interesting duos!
This is so beautiful, I’m in love!
Yay!
They look pretty as blushes! x
That could be interesting!
definitely the type of shades I go for, but have many similar already
I totally thought of you when I swatched this
Ooo, I’m a fan of the darker shade. Unfortunately mineralize shadows never work for me, with the exception of Sea & Sky — the one and only, ever. lol
LOL! That is one of the best duos from the Mineralize line–ever.
Amethyst? Really, have the guys at the MAC lab ever SEEN an amethyst? This is like red/brown, a real amethyst is very purple pfff
LOL! More like Ever Plum to me.
I love the colors! It’s a very a nice combo. The swatches look pretty nice too!
It’s pretty good for MES!
I’m quite a fan of the new packaging. Love the #2 shade with that plummy/purple undertone 😉
Happy to hear you’re digging the new packaging, Stephanie!
Hehe, I like the colour scheme of this eyeshadow duo, but it immediately got overshadowed by the purple/gold combo on your lower lash line. 😀 You and your lower lashlines, Christine! You’re like my lower lash line muse…
LOL! It is hard to go easy…
Those are pretty shades!
They are!
Beautiful! I am on a burgundy eyeshadow kick and I think this makes my list…I will have to decide whether the formula makes this worth the buy!
If you’ve tried the Mineralize Eyeshadow formula before and like it, then it might be!
It looks great but I’m worried that it might make me look sickly. If it was just a smidge darker I think I could get away with it.
Aw, bummer!
Mineralize eyeshadows aren’t for me, just doesn’t work well at all. I’ve given up trying, actually. No need to spend money on them when other formulas work so much better.
The shades in this is pretty, but as mentioned earlier, they are hardly amethyst-y 🙂
I hear ya, Helene! They’re better today than before, but I still find it a problematic formula.
these are such beautiful shades. I love the way you used both of them
Thank you, Fiona!
