MAC Duchess Eyeshadow Quad ($44.00 for 0.19 oz.) contains three limited edition shades and one permanent shade. It’s from the upcoming MAC x Osbournes collaboration collection. The textures of the eyeshadows in this quad were fairly good, with the matte shade being a little drier and harder to blend on the skin. All four shades work well together, but there have been many warm-toned quads like it before, so it may also be more dupable depending on what products you already have.

Sweet Eyes is described as a “light golden nude [with a Veluxe Pearl finish].” It’s a light, peach with a frosted finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage, and the texture was soft, buttery, and blendable. This shade lasted for almost eight hours on me before starting to fade. This may be a repromote from a long-ago holiday eyeshadow palette, but the one in the 2008 palette seems a bit lighter/more beige and was also listed as a satin finish, so I don’t think they’re really the same. Divergent Humble Sheen (LE) is warmer, darker. theBalm #18 (P, $6.50) is lighter. theBalm #14 (P, $6.50) is similar. MAC Tenderly (LE, $15.00) is similar. theBalm D2 (LE, $16.00) is has a smoother sheen. LORAC Nude (P) is slightly pinker. theBalm Promiscuous Pearl (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Urban Decay Sellout (P, $18.00) is lighter. Illamasqua Slink (LE) is a touch cooler. Dior Fairy Golds #1 (LE) is similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Sexy Eyes is described as a “soft warm bronze [with a Veluxe Pearl finish].” It’s a medium, coppery brown with a gold-shimmered, frosted finish. It had good color payoff, and the texture was soft and fairly smooth, blendable and easy to work with on the lid. It wore well for eight hours before showing signs of fading. MAC Gingersnap (P, $15.00) is redder. Urban Decay Trick (P, $18.00) is more sparkly. MAC Star Myth (LE, $15.00) is a touch darker. bareMinerals Imagine (P) is similar. See comparison swatches

Femme Fatale is described as a “golden brown [with a Satin finish].” It’s a medium-dark, warm brown with a soft, gold micro-shimmer and yellow undertones. It had good pigmentation, and the texture was soft, blendable, and only a tiny bit powdery. It stayed well on my lids for seven and a half hours before fading. Sisley Paris Toffee (7) (P, $47.00) is darker. Wet ‘n’ Wild Naked Truth #5 (P, $2.29) is darker, less yellow-toned. Makeup Geek Brown Sugar (P, $5.99) is darker, more red-toned. theBalm C4 (LE, $16.00) is very similar. CoverGirl Melted Caramel (330) (P, $4.99) is less warm-toned, more shimmery. MAC Glimpse of Flesh (LE, $15.00) is lighter. MAC Exposed (LE, $15.00) is a touch darker, slightly redder. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Embark is described as a “dark reddish brown [with a Matte finish].” It’s a dark brown with subtle, warm red undertones and a matte finish. It had decent color payoff, but the texture is a combination of soft yet dry, so it doesn’t yield the best color payoff, though it is buildable. It isn’t quite as effortlessly blended, but it is workable. This shade is permanent, though the one included in the quad was less pigmented than the permanent one I have. Make Up For Ever #162 (P, $20.00) is darker, richer. Bobbi Brown Cocoa (P, $22.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

I wanted to get both palettes, but this one seems so easy to dupe, I have so many neutral eyeshadows from mac and urban decay naked palettes. What do you think Christine, is it worth to have more neutral colors, is just that package is so beautiful, I don’t want to regret not buying it, but it is so generic.

I have the original more Pigmented Embark already… And I have the 15-pan Warm Neutral palette too, which some of the colors look a lot like this quad already. I also have a lot of neutral single eye shadow pots… Think I will pass and get some of the more interesting things, or save my money for Fall… I’m a big sucker for the Fall collections.

Im passing..:( I’ll wait to see what Mac does for fall. Until then I have some permanent products I need.. ie.. MSF natural , Fix plus, wipes. A couple of their permanent blushes and shaping powders.

How does Femme Fatale compare to Mac Texture, Saddle? I feel like I have a permanent Mac color very close to it but can’t actually put my finger on one.

Sweet eyes looks pretty close to Naked Lunch. At least on my skin. Sweet eyes is a little…. brighter, I would say, but very similar on my skin. I just got this quad today. I love the colors 🙂

Best palette I’ve ever owned. Perfect for redheads!! I wish I could dupe Sexy Eyes and Femme Fatale so I don’t feel obligated to buy a second one. I thought I could make my own quad from MAC, but there doesn’t seem to be anything like Femme Fatale, and it is my favorite! The others are dupable, but that golden, medium brown is the perfect crease color for me and I don’t know if I’ll ever find another one, so I may have to buy a second palette. Sexy eyes is a fabulous peach. I have MAC’s Mythology, but it is pinker and has more of a duochrome look when layered on heavily. This is a more true peach with the perfect amount of shimmer for lids. I’d love the lightest color to be matte, but its great for under the brow and the inner corner of the eye. Even a cheek highlighter in a pinch. I’m going to have to decide very soon or they will be all gone. Best collection for my coloring that MAC has ever done!

I agree. I almost didn’t buy this because the review said it is pretty durable. I own a lot of eye shadow…MAC, Too Faced, Guerlain, Chanel, Tom Ford, Dior, Tarte, Hourglass, Revlon, the Balm, Urban Decay, Lorac, Wet n Wild, etc. and this quad by far is my favorite. The colors are really pretty on me and I find my self grabbing this over all my eye shadows. None if the colors are really super close to anything I own, and I own all the Naked Palettes. I just wish that I had bought two because I am going to be sad when I hit pan…what are 3 of the shades LE!?!?
