MAC Desert Roadtrip Cream Colour Base
MAC Desert Roadtrip Cream Colour Base ($21.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “golden bronze.” It’s a copper-brown with warm undertones and a lighter golden copper frosted shimmer-sheen finish. Becca Topaz (P, $38.00) is yellower. Bobbi Brown Bronze Glow (LE, $45.00) is a powder.Becca Topaz (P, $38.00) is yellower, powder. Too Faced Sun Bunny #1 (P) is a powder. Disney by Sephora Golden Sands (LE, $55.00) is a powder. theBalm Betty-Lou Manizer (P, $24.00) is darker, powder. Estee Lauder Topaz Chameleon (LE, $42.00) is a powder. It had semi-opaque, buildable coverage that could be layered for opaque, true-to-pan pigmentation or blended out for a sheerer look. When sheered out, it tended to yield less shimmer, so the finish was more luminous than over-the-top shimmery. The consistency is lightweight, thin and spreadable, and blends out nicely on the skin, whether used on bare skin or over foundation. On me, it wore well for eight hours before fading.

Pretty! Very sexy and summery.
It’s very summery!
So totally not a colour for me. I’ve actually never bought a CCB! I’ve been tempted a few times but something about the almost greasy formula always stops me – I can’t imagine using it on my eyes and even as a face highlighter, I just think about hairs and dust getting into it and my marked preference for either powder or liquid highlighters and so I’ve never even ventured into using these.
LOL! You probably will find a random speck of makeup in the CCB compact at some point during ownership. I think they’re a lot less greasy on than they look sometimes, though 🙂
I think back to the MAC Studio Finish concealer I used to have and how icky the surface became over time (odd, since this doesn’t happen with my cream eyeshadows) and eventually I just tossed it.
I like this. But I have a few of the dupes. If it were a permanent product I may pick it up in the near future. I’m on low-buy and i don’t see this as a high priority item. I need to check out the cream colour bases at the counter. Ionly have one,. But, I did find myself using it a lot last summer.
Which one do you have, Nicole?
Improper Copper! Any suggestions for some in the permanent range? I use that one a lot on my cheeks and eyes. Just a quick swipe and go. really nice for beach vacations! Holds up pretty well in heat for me.
Virgin Isle! 🙂
Yep..spot on! i just checked that out in an old review you did ( I guess it was in a set previously). Perfect! Coral!Like I have said, you know me too well! Noted! May have to pick that up when I get my pre-order for Mac is beauty and Phillip Treacey( sorry, if I spelled that name wrong 🙂 ). Thanks for the suggestion!
Hey Christine, sorry for so may comments! I have been thinking about this one a lot. it loos so pretty on you. Do you think owning this one along with Becca poured Topaz is redundant? This looks a bit more subtle. But, if the Becca can do the same, I really don’t want to get it. I am thinking about getting it before it’s gone. Thanks! 🙂
Hey Nicole,
I think Becca is fairly similar, though it runs a little yellower overall.
ok..hmm. I couldn’t stop staring at your pictur, lol.I went ahead and ordered it along with Virgin Isle and Madly Magenta (which is on backorder,MM, I found out after ordering). i compared the texture of the CCB I have with the Becca and I kind like the exrtra slip for bare-skin or concealer only days to the pool or kickin around in summer.II am going to see how it does as a cream type bronzer. My skin just gets too dry wit a lot of the light sunblocks out there. So a simple cream bronzer/hl ,sun, water,mojito..I need a vacy! lol If I find it too similar. i’ll sent it back. I’m going to be heading to the post office with my mishap form QVC anyhow. $21..low price, kinda low-buy. I am no good on low buy, lol. I actually just got a bonus Fri . So, low buy is not that high of priority. Just trying to not go as nuts with the spending!hard not do with all the nice stuff they keep kicking out!
Keep me posted how you like the two formulas! 🙂
Congrats on the bonus!!
This looks beautiful on you and seeing this is tempting me. I am fair/ yellow undertone and I don’t know if this would be dark or mustard-y on me. An A- too, that is a good grade.
Christine, what do you apply this with? A beauty blender, I assume
I applied it with MAC’s 159. I don’t use a beautyblender currently… for… well, anything.
So beautiful! The last thing I need is another highlight but I hope this one sticks around for a bit so I can scoop it up when I get paid lol
Fingers crossed!
This is too warm for me, but I ordered Summer Wind!
Yay!
Too dark for me but really pretty!
It is very pretty!
I love love love this color! Really gives you a summer glow! MAC really does have some of the best makeup! Great post!
Thanks, Caitlin!
I love MAC’s cream colour base! This is such an amazing summer highlight shade that doesn’t lean too warm!
Nice! 🙂
This looks lovely on you, Christine! How do you think it compares to the Becca Poured line in terms of consistency and application? Seems like this could be a similar product?
I think the texture is pretty different!
Looks lovely on you Christine – really suits your complexion. Again, I love your eyeliner.
Thank you, Genevieve! 🙂
I love the fact that this doesnt blend out to be shimmery, it would be perfect just for a hit on bronzy glowyness when you’re not really wearing much makeup
xx
It would be a nice way to get warmth!
I order this cream color base to try it out, I hope it works on my NW45 skin tone. Do u think it will show on me?
Yes!
Thanks Christine, I should receive my order on Monday!! Yayy!!
