MAC Deliciously Rich & Gilt Gourmet Fluidline Review, Photos, Swatches

MAC’s Indulge Collection (online now, in-stores (and other online retailers) on August 22nd for North America locations) features two new (and limited edition) Fluidlines. Both shades are very glittery/sparkly, so the consistencies isn’t as smooth as cream Fluidlines, and the application is uneven/splotchy. It’s hard to get a good, dense line of color. I found the best way was to load up the brush and then press and almost roll the brush against the lash line to get decent color. I’ve been wearing both for almost eight hours now, and there is significant flaking of color. I wore both on my lower lash line, and depending on your sensitivities, the glitter falling out/flaking off the lash line may cause your eyes to water. I thought they might work better as a base, but when I tried to apply the color as more of a base, it was just as uneven.

Deliciously Rich Fluidline ($16.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “shimmering dirty taupe.” It’s a medium-dark brown with large gold sparkles. I applied this and the other shade with MAC’s 208 for swatches. Urban Decay Corrupt is less sparkly. MAC Lord It Up is similar but easier to apply and is more opaque. MAC Oprheus is a bit darker and less sparkly. See comparison swatches.

Gilt Gourmet Fluidline ($16.00 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “sparkling burnished gold.” It’s a brown-ish, medium-dark gold with a frosted, metallic finish and larger gold and copper sparkles. MAC Handforged is yellower, warmer. See comparison swatches.

Oh dear. I was curious about the taupe one. When I heard they were doing a gold fluidline, I was annoyed, because I’d bought the YSL one from last year that costs twice as much and I figured that the Mac Fluidline would be in the same league. But the consistency on the YSL one is phenomenal. Strange how Mac seems to do “regular” colours on their fluidlines so well, but these special, sparkly ones always seem problematic…

i think gilt gourmet looks pretty okay.. i might try it out when i head to mac next. i do have to say that the eye look you show with gilt gourmet is gorgeous and i want to try those colors on myself!

I love these!! I work at Mac and I can tell u these will be the first to sell out. We don’t wear them as eyeliner though for the most part. We use it as a lid color after all eyeshadow is finished . You press/tap it in place. Gorg!!..hope that helps

OMG, the second look is stunning! Christine, seeing the review of those shadows, I don’t know how you achieved such a gorgeous result! I’m jealous of your skills!

i wish uppity fluid line would be repromoted, a great gold
fluid line. i’m not a fan of the big chunky particle ones, they
had a few in a more recent collection “feminine edge””,little black
bow” these flaked all over & hurt my eyes.

i tried gilt gourmet on today out of curiosity, all though
the MAC associate who applied the liner must have recently
smoked as her hands smelled like ashtrays, not pleasant, any how
this applied so sheer & patchy, i’d call it a very subtle
light gold sparkle. would probably work better on top of
a black liner. the brown one seemed a little
more pigmented but both were unimpressive.

I bought Deliciously Rich a few days ago & love it, actually. It’s the ONLY thing I bought from the latest collections. The sparkles in it don’t migrate & fall into my eyes at all. In addition, I’ve found it to apply very nicely as a liner & used as a cream base under powder shadows. The sparkles in it catch the light beautifully. If I lay down a thin line of matte brown liner, this looks gorgeous applied right above it.
