MAC By Request Collection for Fall 2012
M•A•C fans are to vote for their favorite shades starting March 12 on Facebook. 18 popular lipsticks, lipglasses and eye shadows have been selected from past collections; the three shades with the most votes from each category will come back as an online exclusive, limited edition collection. Voting opens to all Facebook fans March 12 -30. The collection will be available online in North America in August and internationally Fall 2012.

I really wish they would have extended this to pigments. I would love to see some of the old pigments come back, esp Coco.
I love this idea! I just wish they were gonna bring back more than three shades. Some of these collections were released just before I really entered the world of makeup and so it would be nice to get my hands on a few more than just three!
some of these are so old I can’t even find google images for them! Before mac collecting and beauty blogging went big time I guess. Good that there’s been some consumer input, though I guess there was a limited number to choose from? Because of the entire back catalogue of Mac this is not what I would have chosen haha.
Is it wrong I’m a little sad they’re not doing this with some of the LE blushes? I’m missing Fafi!

Wow, this is so exciting! It’s so good to get the opportunity to vote for favourite shades from the past! It’s always a shame when there is a shade that you really love and want to buy again but it’s limited edition. One of my favourite shades was MAC Aquavert – would love you get that one again.

I’m super excited about this collection! I’m going to vote for Moth Brown, and I’m not sure what else yet.
I wasn’t familiar with a lot of the shades, so I had to google for swatches. Such a shame that there are no msf’s and blushes…
I might pick up a few eyeshadows, but that’s it.
Hopefully they’ll have a really big inventory on this collection – it would kind of defeat the purpose if it all sold out in 5 minutes 😛

Brilliant idea but some of their options are questionable. Cool Heat?!? It took me two years to get rid of that in a swap and I never see it on any wish lists on MUA (usually a good barometer for gauging an item’s popularity). How about Aegean, Parrot, Scarab or Atlas eye shadows? Huetopia, Santiago, Luv N Lust lipsticks?

I was so excited in hoping there would be lip liners on this list. The WALNUT lip liner is my all-time favorite and I haven’t been able to find it anywhere. Hopefully, MAC will expand this…

every CCO i have been to (around 5 up and down the east coast) has tons of tartan tale items!!
These are popular shades? The only thing I see here is Candy Yum Yum and Guacamole. Why not bring back actually popular shades like Lollipop Loving or like, Burnt Burgundy or one of those LE MSFs that everyone flips shit over? Diiiiiiisappointing.

Many of the colors are so similar that I get a feeling that MAC already knows what it wants to do. Great concept, bogus selection.

However, I’m sad they are missing two of my favs that I ran out of – Style Snob eyeshadow and Gingeroot lipliner.

I can’t take this seriously. There are so many more discontinued MAC shades that have major cult status as opposed to these. Including recent colors (2011) is kind of crazy. They can simply re-release them in one of their 542 collections this year.

There really aren’t any colors here I would vote for, possibly moth brown. I was really hoping for Palatial lustreglass. I guess I will stick to the perm collection for now.

I think it’s a great idea of MAC to bring back old and popular products. Unfortunately I’m not really interested in any of these. I really wish they had included blushes and MSFs as well.
I want to see Moxie & Cool Heat come back so badly. I don’t really care about any of the others, I either have them or skipped them intentionally. I wish they were doing blushes, I want Ripe Peach and Marine Life!
I will die of shock if Candy Yum Yum doesn’t win by a landslide!
I think they made a big mistake not bringing back Smoke and Diamonds. This is just like when they re-released Azaelea Blossom when they could have done Ripe Peach.
I really, really wonder how they came to choose these products as the ones from which to include in the vote. This great idea had the potential to be the most awesome offering ever. Big fail, IMO.

Awesome idea for a collection, but I feel like the choices are a bit random, certainly I could think of some more sought-after shades that aren’t on their shortlist… Hopefully there will be some swatches or something to choose from when voting (though more likely it will be the same computer-generated colour samples that they use on their website, which can be misleading).
Cool Heat was the first MAC product I ever purchased! Such a beautiful shade, I’m glad it’s coming back.
OMG if Jete doesn’t win 🙁 I’ll be so sad. Impossible to find. On Ebay once it was listed at 79 USD, not good for my wallet and I didn’t even give into that!

Candy Yum Yum is a must own I hope it gets voted in because I totally missed out. Also I think it would be pretty cool to own Moxie and Rocker two shades that are almost older than me lol. I hope all three get voted in, I can never have too many mattes.

I’m sorry but none of these(minus maybe candy yum yum and one of the shadows) seem very exciting. Am I missing something? Why were they so popular? I guess I should be glad to save some money. 😛

I bought Rocker a long time ago and have such a small amount of it left in the bottom of it’s tube. I love this color and will not Back to Mac the container until I can buy that color again. The color is this gorgeous deepened blood red matte lipstick with tiny glitter flecks that just amp up the deep tone without appearing shimmery. I have tried to dupe this color for years with MAC products and pigments and I have only come close by deepening Runway Red (LE) with burgundy liner and a thin layer of spring bean lustreglass over it. This combo took a while to figure out, thanks to James at MAC San Diego, and while I love it I want this look in one tube where I found it. I will be asking for the votes so I can have this awesome color again!!

Candy Yum Yum was released so recently that I’m kind of annoyed it gets a place in this collection at all. There are so many other great products that people have wanted to get their hands on for ages! I never understood the appeal of CYY anyway – it looks completely hideous in every picture I’ve seen of it.
Anyway, I hope they bring back Moxie because that looks like a fun shade, or Rocker because then I can use mine more freely without worrying about running out. Of the eyeshadows I really want to try Guacamole and I’d like to back-up Solar White and MothBrown.
I know, I totally agree with you, I never liked Candy Yum Yum in any of the pics I have seen, I think it looks hideous. But then I’ve never been a bright lipstick person either.
Candy Yum Yum + Guacamole!! Well, I know it’s not a good culinary combination, but they are my favorites in this list. I would also like Mineralize eyeshadows (Smoked Ruby) and blushes (Tippy, from hello kitty collection, or the coral one in Venomous Villains)

I’ve heard good things about Moxie, Rocker, Shitaki & 3N lipsticks. I already own like 5 CYY. I think it was too soon to bring that back. It just came out last year & knowing MAC would have repromoted it next year. I don’t know about any of those lipglasses. Cult of Cherry sounds heavenly though and for the eyeshadows maybe Jete.
I would have loved if they would have brought back stuff from way way back like 2000. Judy Blue eyeshadow is suppose to be the dope. It goes for almost $400 on ebay. I personally would have loved Lavender Whip & Go For It lipsticks to have been brought back. Not sure which l/s I will vote for, probably Moxie, then Jete e/s and Cult of Cherry l/g. I’m wondering if they will also have blushes?

Lipglasses – CULT OF CHERRY WILL FINALLY BE MINE!
Everything else I don’t really care about. xD Also, they all seem to be in the light pink range anyhow? I don’t know, swatches are required for those haha.
Eyeshadows – Moth Brown
Errr. Don’t know about the rest of those. Guacamole, Jete, and Solar White look interesting, and idek what Heavenly Bliss looks like.

I’m actually really excited for them all. Totally my choice of colors. If I could chose just 1 I think i’d chose guacamole just to have it! I love the name.
I would have loved it MAC brought back items from their old collections. Like Force lipstick from their Venus collection. CYY was just here. If it’s going to be a “bring back” collection then lets bring back from collections going back from 1998 – 2008 or so. Seriously Mac. Doesn’t mean I’m not going to vote. Cult of Cherry lipglass, Shitaki lipstick and Jete eyeshadow will get my votes.
Why can’t mac bring back any glitters, pigments, brushes, or gift sets in this collection? I would love to see them bring back the lipmix compact, coco beach pigment, and black and gray glitter.

I love this. Finally a brand is listening to the ones who make it all possible — US! I missed out on CYY and would love to get that baby in my hands. I could do without the lipglass but would love to try either bait or icescape. Might I add that while looking for swatches of icescape online a very young Temptalia popped up on my screen! You looked so young, gorgeous and tan, Christine! Still gorgeous of course. Haha 🙂 Also, I LOVE SOLAR WHITE. It shall be mine!! ::fingers crossed:: I’m curious if MAC will have a purchase limit and will be smart enough to make a ton of product so we don’t all lose our minds.

I suggested to MAC a Blast from the Past Collection and they responded that they had this ‘contest’. I think my idea is better. ‘Blast from the Past’ could be a sort of permanent collection that changes every season to give a chance at acquire very coveted items.
I’m not from the US and in my country MAC does not sale online. This is lame
*sigh* the two lippes I want the most are the bottom 2 in the votes (shitake and rocker) 🙁
