MAC Brick-o-la Lipstick

MAC Brick-o-la Lipstick ($14.50 for 0.10 oz.) is described as a “mid-tone berry” and has an amplified creme finish. It’s a creamy berry pink with a subtle shine and opaque color coverage. The creaminess in the texture allows for easy glide across the lips and little product is needed to achieve full color. This shade is part of MAC’s permanent range.

The amplified creme finish is designed to deliver opaque color coverage with a creamy texture and shiny finish. MAC Lipsticks are vanilla-scented but taste-free. Amplified cremes typically last four hours when I wear them, as they are more opaque and have a tendency to cling to lips (but are not drying).

MAC Capricious is similar but less pink, and the finish makes it appear a bit different on lips. Cle de Peau #117 is slightly redder and darker, but it is in the same family. Chanel Etole is redder and more muted. Hourglass Nocturnal comes close but is a bit more plum.

I have this! I love it, and it is absolutely wonderful for winter when you want to wear something a little darker but are afraid of going all out and scaring people.

Wow, I’ve been overlooking this lipstick. I’ve never noticed it before. It looks like it would be up my alley. I’ll have to check it out!

Ooh, I love this. I’ve never actually purchased makeup from MAC before (too expensive), just their brush cleaner, but this may change that.

It looks like a warmer (and slightly darker) version of Mehr (Mickey Contractor – LE) lipstick. Not an exact dupe of course but somewhat related, especially when worn. 🙂

You know I was just in the store yesterday, and swatched it on my hand and thought hmm nothing special…but your pictures is making me have second thoughts. It looks gorgeous on you.

I feel like colors look so beautiful and true on you because your lips aren’t very pigmented. My lips are really pink. I thought I wanted MAC’s Gem of Roses because it looked very subtly pink and natural on you, but on me it was bright pink.

Probably the same with this. Love it on you, would probably be too bright on me. (And I hate having to block out my lip color beforehand.)

I love Brick-o-la (I keep forgetting to wear it so this has jogged my memory, so to speak). Amplified creams are my favourite finish from MAC. I’ve always found the name misleading…the “brick” suggests something very orange. MAC’s Mocha blush is the same – I was so surprised, when I was at the counter, to find it wasn’t brown or mocha coloured at all but much more a pink/plum type shade that I like and can wear. Misleading names!

I have this and I like it, especially when worn whith the right outfit, but I can’t detect any pink in it. On me it’s more like a slightly brownish burgundy red. But this might just seem so to me because my natural lip color is much pinker in comparison.

This color looks amazing on me (NC44) Love it 😀 My second MAC lipstick ever (Viva lam VI is my 3rd and it’s a great everyday color, Sunsational L/E was my 1st)
