Blush Please

MAC Blush Please Glow Play Blush ($30.00 for 0.25 oz.) is a dusty, deeper pink with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had buildable coverage from semi-opaque to opaque coverage with fingertip and more semi-sheer to semi-opaque when applied with a synthetic brush.

The texture was smooth to the touch, more like an airy clay as it could be indented with light pressure but didn’t feel overly thick or firm in the pan. After it came into contact with skin, it felt more powder-like than cream-like, so it wasn’t prone to lifting up my base products but also worked well over bare skin. It blended out fairly easily and stayed on nicely for eight hours before fading a bit.

Formula Overview

$30.00/0.25 oz. - $120.00 Per Ounce

The new, limited edition formula is supposed to have "eight-hour, fade-free wear" with an "ultra-blendable" formula that has "sheer" but buildable coverage with a "gel-cream texture" that is "bouncy." It's gel-to-powder blush that has a lightly emollient, slightly sponge-like quality to it--more like a smoother, more emollient clay-like texture to me--that feels more like powder as soon as it comes into contact with my skin.

The pigmentation was definitely more sheer to semi-sheer, buildable to medium to semi-opaque coverage with some of the deeper/darker hues in the range having more coverage and better building capabilities. I preferred using fingertips for application as I felt it was easier to faster to apply, though fingertips will yield slightly higher coverage compared to a brush. The formula applied well--most of the time--over bare skin as well as over base products like liquid foundation without lifting it up. They wore eight hours before starting to show signs of fading.

I’m totally in LOVE with this shade! It is the perfect “goes with everything”, every day type of color that really mimics a natural looking, from within flush.

Hmm… I like the idea of this type of blush, but I don’t think I’ll be getting any. I owned a Stila convertible blush, and I realized I don’t like applying blush with my hands. Though these types of blushes are so handy on the go!

I like the variety of blush products coming out though, since I like different options when I’m going for a minimal-no foundation look. On no foundation days, I think I’d prefer a more emollient texture, like those Shiseido WhippedPowder Blushes, or even the liquid ones like NARS makes.
