MAC Artificially Wild features four new, limited edition shades of MAC Eyeshadows ($16.00 for 0.05 oz.). I really liked these, as I felt they were nicely pigmented with soft, blendable textures, but they were also more unusual colors, partially due to the satin finish.

MAC Artificial Earth Eyeshadow ($16.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “soft mauve nude [with a Satin finish].” It’s a light-medium, neutral pink with a soft, frosted finish. It had good color payoff, while the texture was soft, velvety, and blendable. The color wore well for eight hours before fading slightly. Stila Pink Diamond (P) is more shimmery, lighter. theBalm #32 (P, $6.50) is more shimmery. Anastasia Ballet (LE) is less shimmery, pinker, warmer. Urban Decay Minor Sin (LE, $18.00) is lighter, pinker. MAC Pink Frontier (P, $21.00) is warmer, more shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

MAC Marsh Eyeshadow ($16.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “soft dirty olive green [with a Satin finish].” It’s a softened, medium-dark olive green with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had nice pigmentation that went on easily and wore well for eight hours. MAC Olive Blend #3 (LE) is more shimmery. theBalm #16 (P, $6.50) is more shimmery. Tarina Tarantino Dandy Lion (LE) is brighter. Anastasia Moss (LE) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

MAC Natural Wilderness Eyeshadow ($16.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “dirty mustard golden nude [with a Satin finish].” It’s a medium-dark, ochre brown with warm, yellow undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had excellent color payoff with a soft, velvety texture that was very blendable on the lid. This shade lasted for eight and a half hours on me. MAC Au Nature (LE, $21.00) is a cream product. MAC Outre (LE, $15.00) is darker, browner, warmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

MAC Stony Eyeshadow ($16.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “soft grey concrete [with a Satin finish].” It’s a medium-dark, neutral-to-warm-toned pewter with a satin sheen. It’s a mix of brown, green, and silver/gray. It had mostly opaque color payoff, and the texture was soft and smooth like the other shades. It lasted for eight hours on me before fading. Stila Substance (P) is darker. NARS Lost Coast #1 (LE, $24.00) is lighter. theBalm #19 (P, $6.50) is lighter, warmer. L’Oreal Gilded Envy (755) (P, $7.99) is darker, more shimmery. CoverGirl Ashen Glow Flame (335) (P, $7.99) is a cream product. MAC Antique Diamond (P, $18.50) is a cream, more shimmery. MAC Modern Pewter (LE, $19.50) is more shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Natural Wilderness and Stony stand out to me! Do you know if these come out at the same time as the Simpsons collection, Christine? Because it’s a bummer if so!

Though the quality’s been all over the place in this collection I like the somewhat unsual colours it has. Wish they were permenant though – I want to try natural wilderness out, I think it’ll work well with my skintone.

I think these will work nicely incorporated into existing collections – they’re all kind of mid-tone to me, and they have enough undertone and color differentiation that they do work together… but I think they’ll pop even more with other shades.

Very pretty! Soft, subtle colors. I’m definitely going to pick these up because they’ll show up nicely on my skintone. 🙂 Yeah for unusual colors that are still wearable.

I really like all four, but I don’t think Natural wilderness would work with my skintone. I would love if it surprises me and do, as these colours are so interesting I wan’t all of them. I also love how well nemed Marsh is 🙂

I’m NC 50, so these shades would probably be sheer on my lids and I don’t need any more highlighter shades. If they were suitable for my complexion, I would buy them in a hot minute. I think they’re beautiful neutrals. In the photos Natural Wilderness resembles Mac’s Uninterrupted e/s which I love and wear regularly. I am considering the cream e/s Au Nature to wear as a cream base.

I think Natural Wilderness is revolting (but unusual and original). The other three are OK, but nothing outstanding or terribly original. I feel like I already own similar colors.

Thanks for the great swatches!
The only item I want from this collection is the eye shadow Artificial Earth because it appears to be the closest to my favorite Modest Tone.

Thanks for the review and the pretty swatches 🙂 I think this collection is looking really neat altogether and I like it a lot 🙂 Also it´s a different look than many MAC-collections before (a lot of them were bright and bronze-y in the past months – nothing wrong with that but now this stands out). I`m not quite sure they work for really cool complexions, though, seems a tad warm-neutral – kind of like “Spring” in the four seaon colour system.
Perhaps for Artificial Earth and Stony I can find a similar look in the Neutral Cool 15-palette (bought it after all), with Sweet Allure and French Clay – I know they are not dupes but not too far away.

btw, Christine, we can finally buy UD in Germany =) and the prices are not higher than they were from Sephora France, which is pretty good. 🙂

I ended up getting Natural Wilderness! I think it is a great color to have in a collection, plus I think I can make it work as a nice crease shade! Thanks for the wonderful swatches! 🙂

HI Christine – I love this collection and purchased all four eyeshadows. I tried the lovely ook you show in this post but am having trouble getting each color to show up individually. After I put Stony in the crease, everything goes a bit muddy. Do you have any tips or suggest applying in a particular order? Thank you so much. Your blog is my beauty bible!
