Ohhhhh looks like I will be hauling from this! The eyeshadows look so metallic-ally! I would pick up Stereo Rose but I still have 3 more left to go through so I’ll skip out this time and hope for the best later on when I do run out lol. Have they ever made the Pro Longwear Eyeliners before?? I don’t remember those…I’ll get some of those too! And I think I’ll try the lip balms too.

I’m confused, isn’t this collection for spring 2013?! If it’s gonna be released on december then i’m screwed, i won’t be able to get Porcelain Pink! =C

Hi Brenda,

“Spring” to beauty brands gets earlier each year. Most spring collections debut early January, but MAC always pushes out a ton on 12/26 to take advantage of the post-Christmas rush.

Yeah, that’s what I always thing about mineralized eyeshadows too. I don’t know how they make them looks so good on the model, they always look so bad when I try to use them (I think they look bad on the MAC sales associates trying to promote them too).

I use them with a creamy base (with primer), like a paint pot and they are very vibrant. They do take a few extra minutes but the effort is worth it. Just my 2c.

Oh gosh, so this means people have to spend most of christmas eve online trying to get stereo rose before it sells out? I’m so happy I got it last time so I don’t have to worry about it.

Hi Christine, (or anyone who’s had it) how are these mineralize blushes? Is the finish just like the Frost ones? As intense as the skinfinishes or more subtler? So curious about the caramel one as I’ve never explored the part of the color spectrum!

They are actually really pleasant to use. I have Feeling Flush and Early Morning. They are great with a fluffy brush for a nice, soft glow but you can build them up. I usually wear mine on top of foundation with primer underneath and setting powder on top (I have oily skin) so I cannot comment on how long it lasts.

I have Warm Soul and it is one of my favorite blushes. A peach with a brownish base. Perfect for my complexion. Not shimmery at all. A very good quality blush. I’d love the try the Amber one is this collection, I’ve seen it referenced in the past on this blog, and its in my color family. They just seem to sell out these limited edition colors very quickly online, and the dept stores are very erratic in what they get in stock. The sales associates apparently dont read the blogs or their own press releases, because I frequently know more than they do after reading Christine’s reviews on upcoming products. I remember being met with blank stares when I asked for the Middle Eastern line of brown lipsticks that were reveiwed several months ago. They were eventually available onlin, but I’ve never tested them in stores!!

I really like mineralize blushes! I have a couple of them: Dainty, (permanent, with shimmer ) and Pressed amber (LE) which is not shimmery but gives the skin a really nice kindda glowy look. I find them easy to apply and since they give a very natural finish I think the caramel one would be a nice pick for you =)

I don’t know as I’m an NW15, but I really like the mineralized blushes too. I find they’re really pigmented, so I have to be careful or I look like a clown. lol But I don’t think any of those ones would be too dark for you.

OMG I love the lipsticks from Après Chic, Strength and Lovely = 10 lipsticks, Après Chic is quite classy, the promo photo is so pretty and colourful !

I keep telling myself I don’t need anymore lipsticks, but I’m really liking Haute Attitude and Apres Chic. Mind you, lipsticks is one of the things MAC still actually does well.
I think I might just cave and grabs stereo rose this time around to see what the fuss is about and maybe a mineralized blush (not sure which one or ONES), as I always have great success with those too. We’ll see what the counter has to offer when I hit it up on boxing day!

MAC, why do you have to release 3 collections for this month? (Not complaining though) I look forward to these holiday releases. I’m glad I only picked up 3 things from Taste Temptations so I can get me all the MSF and the 3 bright lipsticks from Strength Collection!

I have Stereo Rose and I honestly wouldn’t recommend it. I am usually an NC25-30 and it looks fine on me when applied lightly. But when I go away on beach trips and I tan quite a bit, I have to really layer SR to get it to show up on my darker skin. And once you start layering it, it is just SO frosty (terrible texture)…it almost turns scaly. Definitely try it before you buy it. I personally don’t think it’s worth the ridiculous hype.

I don’t own a single mineralize eyeshadow, they seem messy/hard to work with. But the model looks amazing… will definitely be checking out the shadows, lipsticks and maybe a skinfinish.

There’s nothing weird in releasing a collection 3 months in advance of the season- Mac launches are parallel with the fashion world where its highly normal to present you conceptual and ready to wear collections seasons in advance. So S/S is seen on the runways at fashion weeks in September and A/W is seen in July as well as the couture collections. Mac is a popular brand used at fashion week in fact Mac will do the make up for more than one designer, working closely with the principle designer to come up with a visual for the models. It wouldn’t make sense to release a collection aimed at spring IN spring. That’s not how it works.

The name of the collection (Apres Chic) is a play on Apres Ski, so it makes sense that they are all snowy/mountain/wintery themed. But yes, definitely not spring type names!

I’m hoping this time (like everytime) it will be a new forumla that’s wearable for me. If so, I’ll pick up one eyeshadow, and a tinted lip balm (they seem cool) and I’ll go have a look at the blushes, because they don’t look like glittery messes. My hopes aren’t high for this one, and if it bombs in my opinion I’ll just pick up something else. No big deal.

Gosh.. this is going to sound silly…

Are PRO stores equal to the free standing MAC stores and not counters? Or totally different?

Please enlighten me, anyone. 😀

Pro stores sell pro products which are marketed for the professional. There used to be both a MAC pro site and “regular” site. Now you can purchase pro product at the MAC site. The pro stores sell everything and the are just a few around the US, Canada and the world. Whereas the counters and “basic” MAC stores sell everything but the pro product. I went to pro stores in Miami and Las Vegas and it’s fun to try and buy theses more exclusive items.

Thanks Pamela!

Maybe I have been to a Pro store and didn’t even know it is! How do I know which ones are the Pro stores from the “basic” ones?

I actually bought the Mineralize Tinted Lip Balm in ‘Stay Warm!’ at the Estee Lauder/MAC warehouse sale (4x annually) in Toronto this month. The colour and packaging looked great but I don’t like the applicator. It feels like dry glass being dragged across the mouth! What a description! LOL! The ‘balm’ itself doesn’t seem to be moisturizing either.

I’d be interested to see if what I purchased is what is to be released. It has happened before that I snagged a yet-to-be-released product at the sale, only for applicators or packaging to be redesigned when actually launched.

I’m getting really sick of MAC, especially after the quick sellout of the marylin collection. The Mac Pro store in San Francisco only got 14 stereo rose MSFs in stock!!! For a product that’s in such high demand, you’d think a high volume pro store would get more. At this point, I think MAC is losing more customers than gaining because of their stupid marketing strategy. If this collection doesn’t work out, I’m done.

Some of the lip sticks looks really nice. I went into a freestanding MAC store today and inquired about this collection as well as the Strength collection and i was told “probably in the first week in January” :-/ she didn’t seem really sure so I may call back tomorrow to verify or just try ordering online.

Thank you. I just ordered Stereo Rose on the site. If it is not for Temptalia/ Christine and her wonderful readers, I would never be able to purchase what I want. Not always impress with MAC but I did get this and Yum Yum at the store/ Nordstrom the other day. That Yum Yum lipstick made me feel better since I have been coughing terribly for days.

I learned better. If you really want something, you have to literally fly as soon as Christine announces it…not even run to get it. I checked the MAC site all this time and didnt even see it posted…until I got this link above.

I just love the the whole look of this collection! Its so winter-y, cozy and classy! The picture is stunning. I think I’ll get the Apres Chic lipstick and Stereo Rose, so pretty!

I logged on to MAC at 4:00 am and everything from this line was still available. I ordered the three blushes and the two MSF. However, the Strength collection was ½ sold out. I was only able to order one lipstick. I am surprised to see that the Apres Chic collection has not sold out yet and it’s 6:10pm here on 12/24/12…

Tried one of the new lip balms from this collection on today.the tubes are small. & I was hoping for a more emollient product. I do like the lipsticks though, some nice new shades.

Can someone explain to me the hype behind Stereo Rose? I’ve only really gotten into makeup as a whole within the last year so i missed the craze of the previous release.
