MAC Ablaze Eyeshadow Review, Photos, Swatches
MAC Ablaze Eyeshadow
MAC Ablaze Eyeshadow ($15.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “mid-tone coral [with a matte finish].” It’s a reddish-tinged, medium-dark orange with a matte finish. Wet ‘n’ Wild Desert Festival #2 is more orange. Guerlain les Fauves #3 is pinker. MAC Neo-Orange is a smidgen brighter but similar (and it was the first shade I thought it might be similar to). Make Up For Ever #5 is very similar. Guerlain Coup de Foudre #2 is satiny and a touch redder. Inglot #361 is pinker.
Ablaze had good color payoff, and the texture was soft and blendable–but a little powdery. I recommend patting the product onto the lid to achieve the best pigmentation, and then lightly blending along the edges. This will help both the color and minimize any fall out from the powdery texture. On the lid, it doesn’t look chalky or powdery, though. Applied over bare lids, this shade lasted seven and a half hours well, and just after eight, it started to fade. Over a primer, I didn’t see any fading when I checked at eight hours.

I am an orange fiend, but I imagined this to be nicer lol.
How come the bottom sticker is different? 🙂 I don’t really think this colour will work on me, I find orange too hard to pull off…bummer.. 🙁
This is the kind of color that I like to wear in my crease. I might get this one.
I found this to be very, very similar to the discontinued PRO color, Coral. I think that Ablaze is slightly more orange but the difference is barely noticeable. So if you have Coral already but don’t use it, you won’t need Ablaze. If you are a coral addict, then it’s nice to have both. But again, they are so similar.
How does it compare to Sugarpill’s Flamepoint eyeshadow?
Flamepoint is brighter!
