L'Oreal Lazy Sunday Infallible Matte Resistance Liquid Lipstick Review & Swatches

Lazy Sunday
L’Oreal Lazy Sunday Infallible Matte Resistance Liquid Lipstick ($13.99 for 0.17 oz.) is a muted, medium brownish-plum with warmer, reddish undertones and a matte finish (after it finished drying down).
- Fully opaque pigmentation in one layer
- Smooth, fluid, and easily spreadable
- Applied evenly; very tacky as it set (took about 1.5 minutes) – do not touch lips while setting!
- Long-wearing (6 hours very well, but not 16 as marketed); lightly drying over time

Formula Overview
$13.99/0.17 oz. - $82.29 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "bold color payoff" in "one effortless swipe" that will last for 16 hours and have a "powdery matte finish" and a "lightweight feel." They are pigmented, matte, and fairly lightweight/flexible once they dry down, but they are lightly to moderately drying and not all shades performed as well. The lighter shades felt thicker, were heavier on, took longer to dry down, and broke down unevenly after a meal (particularly from the center of the lips).
The more mid-tone and deeper shades tended to apply better and felt more comfortable to wear, as they were thinner and more forgiving of lip texture and lip lines, plus they wore away more evenly over time. The larger issue with these is that while they are drying down, you cannot touch your lips together at all as they get quite tacky in that in-between time and will lift up product. Some shades took as long as three minutes to set while others were more like a minute or so.
The lighter shades lasted five to six hours before becoming unbearably uneven and needing a reapplication (well, full removal and then a fresh application). The darker shades lasted six to eight hours well and lingered into the 10th hour decently. I found the formula to be on the drying side, though not the worst I've come across over the years.
There was a heavier floral fragrance that was noticeable in the tube and as the product dried down, but it seemed to dissipate after it was fully set.

What a stunning colour that one is! A shame about the formula and the finish that ruins it all.
Gosh, this is PERFECT for winter. Autumn, too. Because I love it so much, I think that I must have a dupe! Possibly MAC VG III?
I think that Viva Glam III is a bit more plum but would likely translate the same on the lips. I have Bite Beauty Chai and Anastasia Dazed but I don’t really wear either one. In looking at this on Christine, I wonder why I haven’t worn them in a long time. Must be because I have a million lipsticks and yet, keep buying more! I think when I am a bit down for any reason, I can justify retail therapy by spending a little money on a new lipstick. Makes me feel better anyway!
I have two of the dupes so don’t need this and I hardly wear them. I do like the packaging though.
