L’Oreal Be Determined Brilliant Signature Shiny Lip Stain ($11.99 for 0.21 oz.) is a medium beige with subtle, warm undertones initially, but it had a orange-red stain that came through as it “set,” which resulted in an uneven, milky top coat effect.

Formula Overview

The formula is supposed to have "bold color impact" with a "glossy, high-shine finish" and has the "lasting wear" of a lip stain. When they're good, they're good: pigmented, high-gloss, and comfortable to wear without being too tacky and not prone to feathering.
It was very similar to YSL's Glossy Stains, and I had similar issues applying some of the lighter shades in the YSL range as I did in this one. One of the issues was that the staining power of the formula itself really interfered with the lighter pigments, which resulted in an uneven look--like I applied a milky gloss over a lip stain.
They had a smooth, lightweight consistency that was spreadable as it was thin and more watery initially, and as it "set," it developed a thicker, almost gel-like feel that was still lightweight and comfortable to wear but had light tackiness, which helped to keep it in place over time.
These left strong, reddish stains behind (they didn't vary much, just warmer/cooler takes on red) after they wore off, which was around five to six hours overall.
They had a powdery, floral scent but no discernible taste.

Uh-uh. Looks like they tried (and failed) to copy the Rare Beauty Lip Oils that stain also, but at least the Rare Beauty ones are uniform in depth and tone once they stain. Both of the above shades are fails.
Not the best from L’Oreal…
These sound like something I would like. I have very pale almost blue tinge lips, so having a deeper colour peeking through a milky colour would make my complexion look alive. I already use a stain before I apply a gloss or a sheer shiny lipstick. This sound like an all in one product.
I have to say, both the shades in this post I own and adore. I am super fair and neutral to cool toned, I’d say go for it 🙂
So many beige lip products now use some crappy pigment that ozidizes into this orange or neon pink shade and I hate it! I don’t know what makes it do that.
Maybe someday, the technology for a lip stain that isn’t red will be developed 🙃
