LORAC Beauty and the Beast Lipstick Collection Review, Photos, Swatches
Beauty and the Beast Lipstick Collection
LORAC Beauty and the Beast Lipstick Collection ($36.00 for 0.55 oz.) includes five, full-sized lipsticks in hues of pink, coral, and red. The MOD Cream formula is described as a “creamy, moderate coverage” lipstick. I, on the other hand, would describe the MOD Cream formula has a highly pigmented, creamy, and luminous lipstick with wear that varied from three and a half hours to six hours that was hydrating and comfortable to wear. The big “downside” was that the pigmentation was typically nearly opaque and only one shade was actually “moderate coverage.”

True Beauty
True Beauty is a soft, light-medium pink with subtle, warm undertones and warmer, fine gold pearl. It had medium coverage–the only shade in the set that was true to that particular claim!–that applied decently but was not as even as I would have liked. The more emollient texture seemed to make the lipstick more prone to settling into my lip lines, though it wasn’t as noticeable from a normal viewing distance. The color lasted for three and a half hours on me and was lightly hydrating.

Red Rose
Red Rose is a bright, medium red with cool, blue undertones and a natural sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation paired with a lightweight, lightly creamy texture that was less thick and less emollient compared to other shades in the set. Instead, the lipstick appeared more natural on the lips and like a stain. The color was still going strong after six hours of wear and left a moderate stain behind. The formula was lightly moisturizing to me.

Belle-ieve
Belle-ieve is a medium pink with warm undertones and a cream finish. It opaque pigmentation that applied evenly to the lips with a very lush, creamy finish that had noticeable shine. The consistency was smooth, creamy, and had a moderate slip, which made it comfortable to apply as well as to wear. It was a bit thicker than the average lipstick but not heavy. This shade lasted for four and a half hours on me and was lightly hydrating over time.

Tres Chic
Tres Chic is a medium-dark, plummy brown with subtle, warm undertones and a cream finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that applied well to the lips–even, smooth coverage–that sat well on the lips and didn’t emphasize my lip lines. The texture was smooth, lightly creamy but not heavy or thick on the lips, and the soft sheen made my lips appear fuller. It wore well for four and a half hours and was lightly moisturizing.

Savoir Faire
Savoir Faire is a medium peach with warm undertones and a cream finish. It had good color payoff, though not opaque, was still quite pigmented and not aptly described as “moderate coverage.” The texture was creamy, light-medium in thickness, and had a fair amount of slip, which made it more prone to subtle streaking, especially if I pressed or rubbed my lips together. It wore well for four hours and had a bit of color that settled into my lip lines over time, though the formula was lightly hydrating.

Tres Chic is my favorite here. These are pretty but I think I’m going to save my money for something else.
I’m sure there are plenty of other products right around the corner!
I don’t have many LORAC products, but these lipsticks look very pretty. I remember when L’Oreal came out with Beauty and the Beast lipsticks, but they weren’t available in the US and people went crazy trying to get them online! haha So it’s cool that this is available from LORAC for the fans!
They are lovely lipsticks overall (assuming more pigmentation is your thing!).
Those L’Oreal lipsticks weren’t even new for the Beauty & the Beast release — they were old L’Oreal shades that were and still are available! The company just put some B&tB paper stickers on the lipstick cases and charged double for them. :-O
Oh I didn’t know that! I don’t want the whole set, just Belle-ieve and Tres Chic –what permanent L’Oreal shades are they?
The **L’Oreal** set was re-runs, not this Lorac set. (I posted earlier with a link to the L’Oreal B&tB lipsticks that showed what old shades they were, but I don’t think that made it through.)
Oh, wow! haha that is so interesting, Susan! Yeah I just thought the packaging was cute! ^_^
Omg! That is too funny Susan!
Ahh, the first 4 are my cup of tea! Especially drawn to Tres Chic, Belle-ieve and True Beauty. All very versatile, wearable shades for everyday type looks. Red Rose is stunning! But I’ve got dupes for that one coming out of my ears, me think!
Wow! Four of five — not bad!
A nice collection but overall too warm for me to consider it.
I could see that!
I wish they sold Belle-ieve on its own, I wouldn’t want all 5.
Oh, that is too bad! Definitely not worth it for just one shade.
I want these! Ulta is out of course, and I just went to my local Ulta and they did not have them either. Have a $50 gc, so this would be a perfect opportunity to spend it. I really love the roses on the packaging. I used to buy Lorac lipsticks, but it’s been awhile since I’ve bought one.
I know they’re online but I’m not sure if they’ve launched in stores already (and are sold out) or yet to come.
This set is totally sold out online and allegedly not coming back, but the official in-store launch date for the entire line was June 25th. A lot of my local stores didn’t even get them in stock until the 24th, so I knew they couldn’t have put them out early. I tracked the in-store availability through the app and I went yesterday and purchased it. They had three left (but I’m not sure how many they were delivered in the first place.) You could try calling your local store now to see if they have any?
Red Rose is nice, but most of these lipsticks look a bit wishy washy to me. Nothing really vibrant or original…
They aren’t terribly unique!
These looks so creamy and just so pretty!!! Love!!
I love Belle-ieve, but I wouldn’t buy the whole set for just one shade. I find it odd that they don’t sell the lipsticks separately! Or do they? I’ve only seen the set so far.
It’s a smart move to not buy it for just one shade! They are only in a set as far as I’m aware!
I love the first three, but I’m not sure if I’d ever wear the last two. Hmmm..
Aww, darn!
PSA: I haven’t been able to find the lipstick set anywhere, but I just scored it on Lorac’s website, so if you are looking, they have some as of 6/30/2017 at 6:48 PM Central.
