Lisa Eldridge Rainbow Spill & Skyscraper Rose Insanely Saturated Lip Colours Reviews & Swatches

Rainbow Spill
Lisa Eldridge Rainbow Spill Insanely Saturated Lip Colour ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bright, neon pink-coral with warm undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had nearly opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which built up to full coverage with less than half of a layer.
The texture was lightweight, thin but not clingy, smooth, and velvety, so the product glided easily across my lips. If you’re familiar with silicone-based face primers, it had a similar glide to it, just for the lips. There was a touch of product that sank into my deeper lip lines but wasn’t noticeable from a normal viewing distance. I also recommend exfoliating lips prior to applying this shade as it was a bit less forgiving than average of minor imperfections of lip texture. It wore well for five and a half hours, left a very faint stain behind, and was neither drying nor hydrating.

Formula Overview
$36.00/0.12 oz. - $300.00 Per Ounce
The formula is supposed to have "100% full coverage with a demi-matte finish and weightless feel." It's a silicone-heavy formulation, so it had glide without feeling wet or slippery on the lips. To me, it has more of a velvety feel that's featherweight, thin but not in a clingy, drying kind of way, and goes on without dragging.
The thinner nature of the formula combined with the more matte finish means that exfoliating prior to application is important for best results; this was more noticeable in Rainbow Spill (less forgiving) than Skyscraper Rose (which was more forgiving). They wore between five and six hours on me, left faint stains, and were non-drying to barely hydrating. They had no discernible scent or taste.

Skyscraper Rose
Lisa Eldridge Skyscraper Rose Insanely Saturated Lip Colour ($32.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a rich raspberry with moderate, cool undertones and a semi-matte finish. It had good color coverage in one pass but needed a second layer for full coverage (my lip freckle is peeking through).
The texture was very lightweight, thin without being clingy, and had a velvety slip to it that helped it glide across my lips without tugging but never felt “wet” or slippery on my lips. The color went on evenly and smoothly, and it lasted well for six hours and left a faint stain behind. The formula felt slightly hydrating as my lips felt quite comfortable after wearing it for over six hours.

Skyscraper Rose
LELimited Edition. $36.00.
P.S. — All four shades from the summer launch are sold out. Per Lisa Eldridge, Go Lightly and Love of My Life should be restocked with the Plush True Velvet Lipsticks, which is hopefully in a few weeks–those signed up for the brand’s newsletter will be first to hear about a confirmed date. There hasn’t been a decision made yet on restocking Rainbow Spill and Skyscraper Rose (and keep in mind, if the brand does a restock, the turnaround will be several months).

These have a really lovely finish; Skyscraper Rose is especially nice!
Skyscraper Rose is gorgeous—exactly the kind of shade that is the most flattering on me—but I have MAC Whole New World, so I’m set!
Rainbow Spill looks awesome! Shame it’s sold out, and no mention of it being restocked. The good news is that Mac Relentlessly Red and All Fired Up are not only excellent dupes, but don’t have to be shipped thereby risking it melting!
I had planned to order both of these and then took a good hard look at myself and decided since these are colours that are well represented in my stash, that I was going to pass. I love both of them but I didn’t need them. I decided to wait for the red restock as I have those in my stash but not as many. Seriously, for Rainbow Spill I have all but two of the dupes, the Burberry and the Tarte !! That is crazy.
I love the sponged matte texture of the bullets. I love Rainbow Spill, love those corally pinks.
Rainbow Spill looks a like MAC Impassioned to me. It’s one I don’t reach for much so I skipped this one. I’ve ordered 2 of the other shades!
I got Skyscraper Rose ( didn’t receive it yet) and I’m really glad. It looks quite unique as none of dupes look exactly the same. I didn’t expect that Rainbow Spill will have so many good dupes. But on photos, not all perfect dupes have perfect texture, so I think, people who got it, will not be disappointed anyway?
I love Rainbow Spill. I’ll be checking out the dupes.
I will wait the restocking, as I would like to acquire them when the temperatures are not so high in my country, under the fear of melting or decayed during their transfer.
I purchased both Rainbow Spill and Skyscraper Rose, which I expect to be a perfect lipstick shade for me. I’m so looking forward to their arrival! (My order was filled today and should arrive this week.)
A $32 lipstick should be perfect–not staining, or unforgiving on minor lip imperfections. I’m not unconvinced that the hype is all due to scarcity and brand name.
Some people actually like the staining. I prefer a hint of color to be left behind as I look completely washed out with no color on my lips (they have barely any natural pigment) so a lipstick that can do that is worth more to me.
Hi Kimberly, I’m not swayed by brand name as LE’s time at Lancome was lacklustre, IMO. There appeared to be more quantity in this release and I expect to see rolling batch releases/restocks as can be self-funded, lessening the sense of scarcity (though nothing compares to a Suqqu UK-only release that disappears in minutes). As for staining, I prefer lipsticks that leave a stain behind as they wear off.
Hi Christine! I noticed that you said this was a thinner lipstick formula. Do you have any notably “thick” lipstick formulas you’d be able to recommend? I think i’ve come to the conclusion that I prefer thicker formulas as they smooth out and plump my lips. Explains why I dislike most liquid lipsticks!
UD Vice (Cream finish), NARS Audacious!
Christine do you have any ‘clean beauty’ dupes for Rainbow Spill? Trying to be a bit more ingredient-conscious with my purchases but that color is incredible!
Hi Vee,
All dupes that I’m aware of are listed (I don’t have magically have more hidden away, lol, I always list as many as I can find!), so you’ll need to look at the dupes yourself to identify what formulas adhere to what you believe “clean beauty” means!
