Lisa Eldridge Myth Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Myth
Lisa Eldridge Myth Eyeshadow Palette ($68.00 for 0.2 oz.) is a new, six-pan palette that included four more matte eyeshadows paired with two more shimmery eyeshadows across a more mauve/plum color story. It is one of five pre-made options from the recent Lisa Eldridge eyeshadow release, though all six shades can be purchased as pan-only (the best deal, unsurprisingly, is to buy pre-made, and you cannot purchase empty palettes at this time, but I know the brand is considering it in the future after receiving requests).
The brand’s eyeshadow formula has an assortment of finishes, so how they were supposed to perform (and how they performed) did vary from finish to finish, but the important finishes to note are that Luminous has “medium payoff, semi-transparent base” and Top Coat as a “minimal pigment formula,” whereas the other shades are higher coverage with a literally different finish (ranging from soft matte to metallic).
Of the five palettes, this was the “worst” of the bunch, which wasn’t bad at all, but it would be better for someone who typically used a primer underneath and did not mind their matte eyeshadows sheering out a bit.

Formula Overview
$68.00/0.2 oz. - $340.00 Per Ounce
The brand has seven different finishes to the eyeshadow formula, so performance depended--to some degree--on the finish. Most shades were pigmented as marketed, blendable, and easy enough to work with, but there were a few that had firmer/stiffer textures that worked better with a dampened brush or a fingertip.
How they were supposed to perform (and how they performed) did vary from finish to finish, but the important finishes to note are that Luminous has "medium payoff, semi-transparent base" and Top Coat as a "minimal pigment formula," whereas the other shades are higher coverage with a literally different finish (ranging from soft matte to metallic).
From the brand:
Seamless Matte - A soft matte texture with a touch of luminosity that practically blends itself. Perfect for adding depth and dimension to the eye. Apply to the socket or lash line for a subtle day look or build for the full smokey effect..
Velvet - A super creamy matte powder paint that grips and adheres beautifully to the skin, with a smoothing finish and even coverage. Can be applied with fingers or a brush.
Luminous - A medium payoff, semi-transparent base that can be applied with a light hand for a wash of luminosity, or with fingertips for an intense, glossy lid top coat effect.
Satin/Metallic - Satin smooth, densely packed soft metallic shine.
Metallic - Full on, glittery molten metallic. Both metallics can be applied with fingers for full opacity, or as a wash with a brush.
Lustre - The densely packed, smooth and extra small pearls gives this texture a soft lustrous, pearly finish.
Top Coat - Multicoloured, sparkling pearls suspended in a transparent base. This minimal pigment formula is great for bringing a touch of light to the inner corner of the eye, or to add subtle extra dimension to the lid as a finishing touch.
In general, the Seamless Matte finish was smooth, velvety, and almost like a lightly cream-based powder formula as the powder seemed to "melt" on my skin and looked more like a soft matte/natural matte finish than true matte. Most shades were semi-opaque to opaque, blendable, and easy to work with. They lasted eight hours on me before fading visibly.
The Velvet formula was slightly more powdery in comparison to the Seamless Matte finish, but they were pigmented, blendable, and easy to work with. They lasted eight hours on me before fading visibly.
The Luminous formula is designed to be semi-transparent and have medium payoff, which was fairly accurate. They had medium to opaque coverage, with more sparkly but had some base coverage. The sparkles were finer and not as intense as in the Lustre finish, so they had a bit of a "glimmer" effect.
Satin/Metallic seemed to be a bit of a variation on Metallic with a smoother sheen. They were typically mostly opaque to opaque and had a shiny finish that wasn't as textured as a true metallic. Metallic had semi-opaque coverage with a brush and more opaque coverage with a brush, as marketed, though I did not feel like they were "full on, glittery molten metallic." They were more of a smooth metallic but not as intense as metallic finishes can be. They lasted eight hours on me before fading visibly.
Lustre was more sparkly but had good emollience so that it adhered with minimal fallout and spread evenly. It was less sparkly compared to the Luminous and Top Coat finishes and had more base coverage. They lasted eight hours on me before fading visibly.
Top Coats were sparkly with sheerer/transparent bases, and it was intended to be a sheerer formula, but they seemed a little drier than ideal so there was light fallout and they applied best with a fingertip. They lasted around eight hours but had light fallout over time.

Hi Christine, do you think there is a palette with a similar color story that performs better? I bought this and while I Iike how the look turned out I do wish Illusionism was more visible and less stiff ( it’s better in Vega) and Mauve Decade more pigmented. I though Dior Plum Tulle maybe, what do you think? Pr maybe Natasha Denona Retro Midi?
Plum Tulle is probably the closest! Retro I think skews warmer/more neutral.
As much as I love my purple eyeshadows (and, just everything else purple), I’m not going to get this palette. Not when I have far nicer, better performing palettes and pans of purple already. Viseart Amethyst, ND Lila, CP Lilac U A Lot and It’s My Pleasure, plus several stunning purple/plum shades in ABH x Jackie Aina palette. Yeah, I’m good! 💜
Oh! And I forgot the BEST one: Menagerie Cosmetics Flight Club! If you LOVE purple eyeshadows, you NEED that gem! 💜 🦇 💜
I can see that this is a more muted colour story and some of the shades are on the sheerer side, but I also think that this would appeal to those who prefer this kind of finish and look. Faded Amethyst is the standout shade for me.
I know that Lisa makes her products keeping in mind how they will look/perform with older people in mind and I think thats great, I think you really see that in her matte formulations in these eyeshadows. However…that top coat. Every review including this one I’ve seen for this palette has shown that that top coat is just a waste of time. A top coat as we have come to know them should have impact, otherwise its not a top coat and shouldnt be referred to as such. That top coat does nothing. It doesnt need to be PMG special shade levels of intense. If the idea is that older people or people who just prefer more subtle makeup dont want a glitter bomb, then why make a top coat at all? Why make a sheer shadow with a subtle, emphasis on subtle, glow and call it something that suggests sparkle and shine? Its like thinking your customer doesnt like shiny lips so you make a satin lipstick and call it lustrous. Why?
I wholeheartedly agree. I don’t need anymore palettes so I ordered two of the top coats as singles as glittery wetlook shadows are my obsession. These are dry and do not deliver ANYTHING to the eye. It reminded me of Makeup Revolution (cheap high street level.) It was my first disappointment from Lisa.
This is a very subpar rating for a high end luxury brand. I’m so glad I waited for the reviews. I’ll never understand the “topper”. It’s code for an eyeshadow that…is bad. It’s like putting a positive spin on something subpar. In any event, where would we be without Christine’s reviews? 😛
A friend of mine has this. It looks really beautiful. I had put it on my Christmas wish list. I hope I get it.
This one doesn’t set my heart a-flutter (unlike the earlier one you reviewed) – these are just not my kind of colours, with the exception of Faded Amethyst – I’m with Genevieve on that one – it’s a stand-out shade!
I’m torn. It is a beautiful color story and I love the looks I’ve seen done with it. Purple is my favorite color so I’d love to have a purple palette, but I get intimated. This one seems like it would be relatively easy to work with—easier than ones that are more pigmented. However, again because of my smallish deep-set eyes, I like to have more light and sparkle on my lid to bring my eyes forward. I don’t know that illusionism will catch enough light for that. I also prefer more emollience in topper shades.
If anyone has suggestions for other purple palettes that might work for me I’d appreciate it. I’m looking for something that is friendly to sensitive eyes (no PET glitter), not too much fallout, easily blended, not too pigmented or dark (overall) but not patchy either, with some shades that really catch the light.
Dior Plum Tulle is probably the closest in color story (I think you can only buy it directly from Dior).
Oooh, that looks like it could be perfect! Thank you!
Plum Tulle is actually on sale at Saks right now for, I believe 15% off or so. It’s ~$52. In fact, most designer brand makeup is on sale across thr board there, so it’s a good place to pick up Tom Ford, Charlotte T, Dior, Cle de Peau, and others.
This was the palette I was most interested in, but caught the swatch post and felt it was much less than deserving of my cash.
Hello Christine. I really love this color story!
I was so happy that your Phosphenes was the perfect dupe (for me) for the Faded Amethyst. It looks so beautiful matched up with SG Forbidden Love, Pandora, Countess, Ethereal and Immortal. I will be using this look over and over again. Love it so much and love you Christine. Thank you for sharing your amazing talents and your heart with us. <3
