Over the course of 2022, I reviewed just over 75 lipglosses, which was a solid number given last year was slightly less, but glosses have continued to take up less space in the industry (at least with new releases). This year, rather than split up my picks between sheerer and more pigmented (often how I select a gloss), I’ve decided to just have one list.

I noticed I had several favorites from these formulas: Fenty Poutsicle, ColourPop So Glassy, and ColourPop Fresh Kiss Lip Lacquer.

Temptalia’s Favorite Lipglosses | 2022

If you’re unfamiliar with how I like to do my year-end favorites, here’s the low down: I pull from the products I reviewed in 2022, regardless of whether they were new, limited edition, or an established range I’ve only just gotten around to reviewing. These are personal favorites, so they may or may not be the highest rated products reviewed during the year (though they will tend to be better rated, naturally!). (You can check out the best of 2021 posts if you missed last year’s.)

Your Year in Review: Lipgloss Edition

I thought it would be interesting to read through how readers used products throughout the year, what favorites emerged, what products fell by the wayside… so, if you want to join in, copy and paste the questions below and add your answers via a comment!

  • What was your most used lipgloss? Least used?
  • Will you repurchase it or will you look for something new?
  • Was lipgloss a big part of your routine in 2022?

Comments that do not adhere to our comment policy may be removed. Discussion and debate are highly encouraged but we expect community members to participate respectfully. Please keep discussion on-topic, and if you have general feedback, a product review request, an off-topic question, or need technical support, please contact us!

Please help us streamline the comments' section and be more efficient: double-check the post above for more basic information like pricing, availability, and so on to make sure your question wasn't answered already. Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

What was your most used lipgloss? Fenty Gloss Bombs in Fenty Glow, Cheeky, Chocolit and Cold Heart’d, ColourPop Glacier Lake and Tinkerbell, PML Faux Real, Rare Beauty Nearly Mauve and Nearly Neutral, MAC Li-Li’s Motor City, Marble Faux and Would Rather Lounge.

Least used? All my gorgeous reds, burgundies and super deep vampy shades! Masks will make a mess out of those!

Will you repurchase it or will you look for something new? Not really seeking out anything at the moment…but that could change with a good release of something neutral or more sheer!

Was lipgloss a big part of your routine in 2022? Yes! The ones I listed above did quite well even under a mask, kept my lips hydrated and gave me a polished look even on very minimal makeup days. Just line ’em beforehand, and BOOM!

Nice, the Temptalia best of list!

What was your most used lipgloss? Least used?
Hi Bald, a clear lip gloss by Trixie Cosmetics – I have always wanted model-glossy lips and this is it. Just a fantastic clear lipgloss. Least used was Urban Decay Fireball, gorgeous, love the peppermint flavor, but the funky bottle leaked.

Will you repurchase it or will you look for something new? I’ve repurchased Hi Bald, and will buy again. I’m using Pale Fire Nectar from Pat Mcgrath in place of UD Fireball.

Was lipgloss a big part of your routine in 2022?
Yes. It feels more like skincare than lipstick and 2022 was all about skincare for me and a lot of people.
