Laura Mercier Gilded Gold Caviar Stick Eye Colour ($28.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a dirtied, medium yellowed gold with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. It had semi-sheer color payoff in one stroke, and it was buildable to mostly opaque coverage but was more challenging to blend for me. It seemed prone to skipping on the skin, and it was one that applied a lot better with a separate brush (try a flat, synthetic one). It wore well for nine hours before creasing. MAC Unwind (LE, $17.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Urban Decay Blitz (DC, $19.00) is brighter (95% similar). ColourPop Get Lucky (P, $6.00) is warmer (95% similar). Anastasia Metallic (P, $12.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). Estee Lauder Naked Gold (P, $25.00) is more shimmery, darker, more muted (90% similar). Urban Decay Goldmine (LE, $19.00) is cooler (90% similar). Too Faced Instigator (LE, $16.00) is darker (90% similar). Natasha Denona Orium (251DC) (LE, $29.00) is more shimmery, lighter, cooler (90% similar). MAC Old Gold (PiP, $21.00) is warmer (90% similar). Makeup Geek Fortune Teller (P, $9.99) is brighter, more pigmented, warmer (90% similar). Maybelline Bold Gold (P, $6.99) is darker, more muted (90% similar). Buxom 24KT Stilettos (P, $12.00) is lighter, cooler (90% similar). Urban Decay Honey (DC, $18.00) is less shimmery, darker (90% similar). Chanel Rêve d'Orient #3 (LE, ) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). KVD Beauty Thrasher (DC, $21.00) is brighter, more pigmented, better quality (90% similar). Too Faced Twinkle (LE, $16.00) is darker (90% similar). ColourPop Cheap Date (P, $6.00) is lighter (90% similar). Laura Mercier Golden Topaz (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker (85% similar). Make Up For Ever #11 (P, $23.00) is more shimmery, cooler (85% similar). Sephora Girls Night Out (03) (DC, $10.00) is darker, warmer (85% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. Laura Mercier Orchid Caviar Stick Eye Colour ($28.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a softened, light-medium lavender with warm undertones and a frosted finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a fairly soft, blendable consistency that lasted for eight hours before showing signs of creasing. I wish it had been a little creamier in consistency to make for better application. Giorgio Armani #14 (P, $32.00) is lighter (95% similar). Kylie Cosmetics North Star (LE, ) is more shimmery (95% similar). ColourPop Double Date (PiP, $4.50) is more shimmery, cooler (95% similar). Chanel Utopia (96) (LE, $32.00) is lighter (90% similar). MAC Lilacked (LE, $22.00) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). ColourPop Baby Roo (P, $5.00) is cooler (90% similar). BH Cosmetics Foil Eyes 2 #11 (PiP, ) is more shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Anastasia Macaroon (P, $12.00) is more shimmery, lighter (85% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Laura Mercier Plum Caviar Stick Eye Colour ($28.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a blackened plum purple with warm undertones and a soft, sprinkling of plum shimmer. It had mostly opaque pigmentation with some creaminess, but it was a challenge to blend due to it drying down very quickly–I didn’t feel like I had much time to work with it before the edges became unmovable. Once it set, it stayed on well for nine hours. MAC Deceit (LE, $21.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Tarina Tarantino Fantastical #5 (DC, ) is lighter (95% similar). ColourPop Doe-a-Deer (LE, $6.00) is lighter (90% similar). Urban Decay Uncut (DC, $19.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Giorgio Armani Sunset (15) (LE, $39.00) is cooler (90% similar). Chanel Tisse Cambon #4 (PiP, ) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). Disney by Sephora Wonder by Wonder (LE, ) is less shimmery, lighter (90% similar). Bobbi Brown Black Violet (P, $24.00) is more shimmery (90% similar). Dior Golden Shock #1 (LE, ) is lighter, brighter (90% similar). Fyrinnae Alchemist's Curse (P, $6.80) is more shimmery (90% similar). L'Oreal Smoldering Plum (P, $7.99) is cooler (90% similar). Hourglass Exposure #4 (PiP, ) is more muted, warmer (90% similar). Makeup Geek Drama Queen (DC, $6.00) is warmer (90% similar). MAC Young Punk (P, $21.00) is cooler (90% similar). Tarte Glamorous (LE, ) is less shimmery (90% similar). Smashbox Cabernet (LE, ) is lighter (90% similar). NARS Not for Sale (LE, $25.00) is more shimmery, lighter, warmer (80% similar). See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

Laura Mercier Seashell Caviar Stick Eye Colour ($28.00 for 0.05 oz.) is a brightened, white gold with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had good pigmentation in a single stroke, and this shade was more like I remember the formula being: creamy without being too slippery, so it applied with even, smooth coverage on the lid and then wore all day long (nine hours)–but it was still blendable and easy to use. The others weren’t as foolproof. MAC Fresh Blade (LE, $17.00) is lighter (95% similar). Becca Moonstone (LE, ) is warmer (95% similar). ColourPop We Jammin' (P, $9.00) is cooler (95% similar). Milani Bella Chiffon (28) (P, $4.49) is more muted (95% similar). Make Up For Ever D416 Crystalline Yellow (DC, $21.00) is less shimmery (95% similar). Makeup Geek Voltage (DC, $6.00) is lighter (95% similar). Urban Decay Snow (LE, $19.00) is more shimmery (95% similar). LORAC Unlocked (PiP, $19.00) is brighter (95% similar). MAC In the Meadow #2 (LE, $21.00) is warmer (95% similar). Chanel Trait de Caractere #2 (LE, ) is darker, more muted, warmer (90% similar). MAC Lily White (2014) (LE, $21.00) is darker (90% similar). Anastasia Legend (P, $12.00) is less shimmery, darker, more muted (90% similar). Charlotte Tilbury Power Eyes (Enhance) (LE, ) is less shimmery, more muted, warmer (90% similar). Fenty Beauty Money Mission (PiP, ) is lighter, warmer (90% similar). Top 20 dupes listed, see the rest. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.

FORMULA SUMMARY | Laura Mercier Gilded Gold Caviar Stick Eye Colour ($28.00 for 0.05 oz.) is touted as “long-wearing, transfer- and crease-resistant” with “rich color payoff.” My experience has been that the more neutral shades (browns, taupes, beiges) tend to out-perform the colored ones.

I am on my second stick of LM Orchid. Personally, I give it an A grade. The listed dupes -(-GA– it is in powder form, thus non creamy, Chanel Utopia- spongy feel, but formula dries up )— they do not compare. I have not found this shade in any other shadow stick form.
I love eye shadow stick portability and durability. They are non flaky, do not dry out, easy to apply, long wearing. I have tried similar products from Bobbi Brown, and NARS and Chanel. LM is King of shadow sticks. The shades I prefer are: Orchid, Sand, Burnished Bronze,Grey Pearl, Moonlight, and Rose Gold.
I hope that you do not mind me voicing my opinion. I seriously like this product.

I love the look of Seashell so I’m glad it got the best grade of these. I’ve been meaning to pick up Sand Glow for a while but I think I’ll wait and hope Laura Mercier does a Holiday set again and includes it – I regret not picking up last years!

I got a set of 4 minis last Christmas, and they are all very nice. They were Cocoa, Moonlight, Rosegold, Amethyst, all pretty neutrals. The set sold out fast. And I have the full-size in Khaki. It looks like the performance really depends on the shade.

Yep,that’s it Mariella! I’ve not used it yet. Definitely a nice shade for fall like you said. I never have used these. So, I was pleasantly surprised at that Sephora point offering.

I bought Orchid last week to use as a cream base for my powder purple shadows. I’ve had good luck using their neutral brown colors. I haven’t had a chance to test Orchid yet, but as long as it doesn’t crease, slide off, or melt on my oily lids, it’s an A in my book 🙂 I’ll trade some creaminess for longer wear time. I usually swipe these caviar sticks on, then blend with a clean fingertip, and I think the warmth of my fingertip will soften it up a little, make it more creamy. Oh, there’s a typo in the last paragraph -you typed in Gilded Caviar but it’s suppose to be Seashell

Yes, that’s why I got Orchid. For a base color, I wanted something that was lighter and semi-opaque, so it doesn’t change the color of the powder shadow too much. A lot of the purple cream shadows I looked at were too shimmery, too dark, or too cool-toned (can look like bruises or dark circleson me). I’m praying this holds up on my oily lids.

Oh wow, these are probably not the best Caviar Sticks LM makes! I have a whole bunch but none of these colors. You need to try Sandglow and Khaki. Those are some of my favorites!

I was going to say something yesterday, when these reviews first appeared but I got it so wrong with the Sephora blush that IS discontinued that I figured I’d just wait til someone else caught it, or you saw it for yourself, Christine!

Purples….again!!! Although at least I have a dupe for Plum. Also for Gilded Gold and Seashell as well, none for Orchid, though, that I can think of at the moment. And I love what Orchid was *supposed* to look like!

It’s such a pity that all colors in this line don’t perform equally. My beloved Sand Glow is much better than most of the ones in the mini set I got this past holiday season.

I recently purcgased LM in Orchid and I’m really liking it. It can goes on really lightly or a surprisingly deeper shade with more pressure. I chuckle at how long-wearing the swatch was on my hand & hard to get off. I own 2 from Bobbi Brown in Sand Dune and Golden Pink, which are really creamy and long-wearing.

I regretted not picking up last year Nordstrom’s deal with 6 but I managed to get the 4 from Sephora (convinced a friend too xD). I also have Khaki, Sandglow, and Burnished Copper as well.

I quite enjoy them and plan on getting more with the sale 😉 I find them to be less creasy than Mally’s version but I have oily lids so all creme shadows crease a bit on me. With a primer (NARS’s pro prime works well for me) or even adding another shadow on top works too for me personlly. Adds that bit of kick 😀

Seashell is my much loved color to use as inner corner highlight or a base for my powder eyeshadows when I do any gold smokey eyes. The pigmentation and staying power is incredible on this particular shade – in fact I tested it by swatching on the back of my hand and leaving it there all day until the next morning and the color only faded slightly (of course on my oily eyelids the longevity was shortened a notch). I had to order it all the way from SpaceNK UK but the hassle was absolutely worth it.
