La Prairie Cellular Lip Colour Effects: Breezy Coral, Pink Shell
La Prairie Cellular Lip Colour Effects ($40.00 for 0.25 oz.) saw the release of two new shades–Breezy Coral and Pink Shell last year. Though both are limited edition, they seem to be readily available where La Prairie is sold. La Prairie’s gloss contains their Cellular Complex, plus Vitamin C and Aloe Vera, while giving lips a slight plumping effect along with moisture.
From La Prairie: This irresistible semi-gloss transparent glaze with lip-plumping properties helps restore youthful fullness while producing a natural luminosity that lasts and lasts. Fortified with vitamins and moisturizers, it soothes, conditions and prevents dryness. It is luxuriously smooth and easy to apply, without feathering or bleeding. Designed to be used alone or applied over your lipstick for added gloss and depth of colour.
- Breezy Coral is a semi-sheer coral-pink with peachy gold shimmer.
- Pink Shell is a semi-sheer pale pinked beige with muted champagne and soft pink shimmer.
These are very decadent glosses; both in the packaging which is long, sleek, and secure as well as the formula itself, which is thicker but not thick. They are moisturizing, and they do last a solid four hours without being a sticky gloss at all. I’m not sure why, but the scent reminds me of something clean – it doesn’t have any of the classic scents like rose, vanilla, berry, but there is something there. A little soapy, I suppose.
Lips do look and appear fuller and softer, not necessarily ultra plump, and there’s nary a tingle from start to finish from the formula, so the effect is subtle. There is a nice shine on this that’s not too over the top with some color though designed to be sheer.

FINAL THOUGHTS: It’s a nice gloss, though I’m not sure it greatly improves the health of my lips overall, so some of the marketing spiel gets lost on me. I like them–they’re soft, smooth, easy to apply, and look fantastic. The shades are universally appealing with soft color and sophisticated shimmer that’s never too much. I like that after fifteen to twenty minutes of wear, lip lines are de-emphasized and softened.

Nice glosses but it seems that they are not worth the money.
Thanks for the review and the swatches.
The packaging caught my attention. It’s well designed but, I wouldn’t spend $40 on it.
I like Breezy Coral but then I can’t resist a coral with gold shimmer! This is a bit pricey for me though. I think I’ll check out the dupe suggestion, I haven’t seen Big Kiss.
Pretty, but not $40 pretty!
Pretty but grotesquely overpriced – it’s possible to find equally as lovely a gloss at a fraction of this …
Breezy Coral is gorgeous but I could never spend $40 on a gloss
Breezy coral is sheerer than I expected.
Pink shell is probably the shade that would suit me best
Mmm, Breezy Coral looks gorgeous! (Guess that means I’ll be checking out Big Kiss, LOL!)
For the price they don’t seem all that exciting. And the marketing just seems like BS… which really turns me off the company in general.
Oh, I don’t know – they look pretty identical, on. For that price?! No thanks!
I really like that Pink Shell but not for $40. The packaging is gorgeous, too. Thanks for reviewing, Christine.
You know, I’m a lurker and rarely write anything, and as demure as pink shell is, I HAD to tell you it looks FANTASTIC on you. It’s like MLBWB (My Lips But WAY BETTER!!!)LOL I would wear it all the time if it looked that natural but amazing on me!
WOW! I have to say I am stunned by the amount of posts and reviews you write, all in the one day! Thanks so much for all the hard work and effort you put in to making sure we always have new products & reviews to read about…It’s so appreciated, and it’s why we check your blog 5 times a day! (BTW the gloss looks good too)
I received one of these glosses for a gift and have used it twice. Rather buy a Chanel gloss or any gloss that isn’t just clear gloss. Over priced I think especially when look so identical!
WOW the packaging on these are gorgeous! but sooo expensive =S
The packaging is so sleek and classy! Gotta try it one of these days!
Pink shell looks great on you!!
The packaging for these glosses are to-die-for! I think I may have to pick one up because of the packaging. 🙂
this is going to sound silly and I hope you don’t feel offended, but I got kind of excited seeing your face photos in different angles LOL
You look AWESOME in pink shell.
Wow.
You just rock a gloss like I have never seen anybody do. 🙂
I actually find the plumping effect very apparent – is that just me? 🙂
