KIKO 100 Cookie Soft Touch Blush

KIKO Soft Touch Blush ($12.00 for 0.17 oz.) is supposed to be a “radiant and highly pigmented blush” with “long lasting colour.” It’s a powder blush that has a thinner, fairly smooth, blendable texture that ranges from semi-opaque to mostly opaque coverage. Most shades are matte to satin with the more matte shades still having a natural-looking finish to them (not flat or dry-looking applied). The wear has varied from six to eight hours depending on the shade.

Per readers comments, it appears these have been discontinued in some countries, though all shades except one appear to be available on the U.S. website. (It’s hard to tell if they’re just on sale, as they’re presently available for $3.90 a pop instead of $12, or if they are discounted to move, as I have seen KIKO do 30-50% off before.) I wasn’t intending to review these back-to-back but will be doing my best to get reviews out quickly in light of seeming to be discontinued. Readers have said the replacement is the Shade Fusion Trio Blush (which I haven’t tried, so I don’t know anything about), which would sure be a bummer, since it is more expensive and a trio of shades, so it is different enough that it doesn’t seem like a true replacement to me (boo!).

KIKO 100 Cookie Soft Touch Blush ($12.00 for 0.17 oz.) is a medium-dark, caramel brown with warm, yellow-orange tones and a satin finish. It had good pigmentation with a soft, smooth, and blendable texture that applied evenly to the skin. This shade wore for seven hours on me before fading. How can say that? You review saying dry stiff powdery or smooth creamy blendable! You feel no difference between these and Love Lust and a MAC non mineral? Between Toofaced, Tarte, IT, NYX, Elf, Hourglass? These swatch so pretty I’m trying to ask you how it feels gliding finger across? Most comparable blush to it? It’s like saying all powder eyeshadows feel the same ?

Christine Avatar

I said they’re like your average powder blush 🙂 Tom Ford Blushes are different from most, as they are denser. These feel similar to MAC, Tarte, Too Faced, some NYX, etc. Hourglass is very loose/thin in the pan (lots of excess kicked up). I don’t know about e.l.f. There’s nothing remarkable about the texture that is really any different from most powder blushes, IMO. Most eyeshadows are either softer and denser, thinner and more powdery, or firmly packed, but they are not, by and large, that different across the board — same is true on blushes. There are a few types of textures, but they are also all pressed powders.

Here in Italy these blushes aren’t available anymore… Considering this and the fact that the price is so low, I think it’s very likely that these are being discontinued in the US too. 🙁

I just checked in store (living near a Kiko shop is a nightmare for my poor wallet :P)… The eyeshadow sticks are still there, but the girl told me that a few colors were recently discontinued, at least here in Italy. In my opinion it’s possible that they’re doing the same thing in the US, marking down the soon-to-be-discontinued colors.

Hello,

I don’t think the long lasting stick shadow are going to be discontinued, they are still available in europe, and they are one of their bestsellers. In fact, the products I’m sure are going to be discontinued are the compact face powders in the black round packaging, the bronzers in the black packaging, and the luscious cream creamy lipstick, the crystal sheer-glossy lipstick and the luminous chrome-metallic lipsticks. These lines are all replaced with new packaging and new formulas and new colors. Price wise for the new blushes, it’s not more expensive in Europe, as the old ones were 7.50 euro for 5 grams, and the new ones are 6 grams for 8,90 euros. In fact, they are 10 cents cheaper. I don’t know about the price in the US, but the price of the new blush is higher, but you get more in terms of quantity of product. I hope that helps. If you have more questions about what’s going to be discontinued or not, you can message me 🙂

Christine, from my experience Kiko marks down limited editions or products that are going to be discontinued. However, here in Spain (and I imagine that everywhere in Europe) their classic eyeshadow sticks are permanent and they never go on sale (they aren’t now).

Carrie Avatar

I’m going to jump on the “they’re probably getting discontinued here” boat because I was in one of the physical stores and these weren’t in the store at all (even as sale merchandise) which would lend support to that theory. I was kinda bummed, at that price I was going to try and pick one up!

Hey Christine, do a “introduction to” to Kiko! I think they have great products for cheap prices, but don’t really know where to start with the brand.
