Swanly

Kat Von D Swanly Everlasting Lip Liner ($18.00 for 0.009 oz.) is a very light, peachy-beige with warm undertones and a matte finish. It was richly pigmented in a single stroke, though it ended up being more challenging to get the same, full coverage results when applied all over the lips. When I tried lining just the edges, it went better but the edges looked rougher, almost ragged. The consistency was lightly creamy and smooth, and the liner only tugged somewhat on the lips (more due to how skinny the liner was, I’d say). It did not go on evenly, but I was able to lightly press my lips together to blend the color out, which worked quite well for evening out the majority of the product. The color pulled away at some of my lip lines and appeared “cracked.” It wore well for five and a half hours and was neither drying nor hydrating by that point.

The Everlasting Lip Liner is supposed to have “24-hour wear” with “water-resistant wear and weightless color” that has the “ultimate pigmentation.” It was created to be paired with Kat Von D’s liquid and regular lipstick ranges but also “worn on its own.” The formula has been fairly creamy, which made it easy to line the edges of my lips, but the skinnier pencil made it less practical for really filling in the lips. I also felt like that, while creamy, some shades still skipped when I attempted to fill in my lips. The texture was more of a soft matte initially, which enabled me to press my lips together and even out some of the product before it fully dried down. It was water-resistant, and I had no trouble drinking water or coffee, but I’ve yet to try one that actually made it through a meal particularly well–they all wore substantially away from the center of the lips and turn patchy by the end of a meal. The Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks tend to wear longer on me, actually. The formula was neither drying nor hydrating. Some were more wearable (in terms of evenness) on their own than others.

OG Lolita

Kat Von D OG Lolita Everlasting Lip Liner ($18.00 for 0.009 oz.) is a medium-dark, rosy plum with warmer undertones and a matte finish. It had full color coverage in a single stroke, and it actually applied that way when I filled in my lips with the color entirely. The lip liner felt a lot smoother and creamier than other shades that I’ve tried in the formula, and it seemed like it “dried down” a bit more, as it was still matte. Like Swanly, it did not go on perfectly even on its own, but after I pressed my lips together and gently rubbed to blend, the color evened out beautifully. The color lasted well for six hours on me and was neither drying nor hydrating.

I was eyeing this, but will go for the BITE dupes instead–same price, 5x more product, although you do have to sharpen it, but that’s ok, I can stretch the sharpenings out

I hate that they made such a STUPID wear claim for these, that ended up bringing the whole score down. OG Lolita looks like a fantastic lip pencil and the color is right up my alley, and I KNOW that the low score is mostly due to the wear time, but I still look at it and am like “HMMM, a C grade for an $18 lip liner??” and get scared away from it.

Dang it KVD. Don’t make ridiculous claims like that!

Ooohhh girl.. Swanly looks like some baaad concealer lips! I could probably get a better finish using the Rimmel retractable nude eyeliner or the NYX Wonder Pencil, LOL!

Lolita isn’t bad but I think I’ll stick to my MUFE lipliners…. I think 2C and 3C work for Lolita liquid and Studded Kiss lipsticks for me.
