Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminizing Veil Review, Photos, Swatches

Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminizing Veil
Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminizing Veil

Josie Maran Argan Enlightenment Illuminizing Veil ($30.00 for 0.28 oz.) is a soft, muted yellow beige with a pearly gold shimmer-sheen. Becca Opal (P, $38.00) is more shimmery. Dior Gold Shock (001) (LE, $80.00) is yellower. Becca Champagne Gold (LE, $38.00) is yellower, more shimmery. Cle de Peau Gold (12) (P, $55.00) is lighter. Becca Opal (P, $38.00) is more shimmery. IT Cosmetics Hello Light (P, $24.00) is similar. MAC Star! (LE) is sheerer. bareMinerals The Shining Moment (LE, $26.00) is yellower. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

It’s supposed to be a “creamy highlighting powder” that will give you a “lit-from-within radiance.” For anyone in the market for a warm-toned, more subtle highlighting powder, you may find this fits the bill. It’s really hard to overdo it, because the finish is subtly luminous rather than overtly shimmery. The texture is incredibly silky and smooth–it does, in fact, feel almost like a cream because it is so smooth without being powdery, which made it incredibly blendable and helped it sit well on the skin (no emphasis of pores or dryness). On my medium complexion, it doesn’t look yellow or give much color, just a soft sheen to the skin, but fairer complexions may see a stronger warmth when applied, though I think application will be sheer enough that it won’t be yellow. It’s a sweet spot between beige and gold without being too yellow or too orange. The powder highlighter wore well for eight and a half hours before fading slightly. I’ll also be revieweing the liquid and cream version soon, but I can tell you that the powder is the least shimmery/frosted and is a bit more yellow-based.

I like the ingredients, but it looks a bit too warm… However, with so few talc- and/or petroleum-free options readily available, I will most likely give this one a try.

I have yellow undertones, but I’m kind of light, and this runs a little warm, might be ok for summer. I’ll have to swatch this in person to see if it will work. I like it’s a powder, so you can touch up without disturbing your makeup, and powders will last longer than cream products.

Being the last day of the sephora BI sale, and along battle deciding between Becca highlighters (oral, topaz or the limited edition blushed copper) and Nars Frenzy, I spent the extra $ and bought Frenzy. Simply because of the highlighter and the coral blush that comes with it, and you could wear sheer or intense (wet or. Dry). I could have saved $15 just buying this one instead :/ Is this sold at sephora?

Also, I saw that you posted a Guide to becca highlights above, but the link doesn’t work :/

Oh,I like “sweet spot” highlighters! I noticed my local Sephora seems to be expanding their Josie Maran cosmetic and skin care are. I am going to have to check this out next time I am in the store. I have Cle de Peau’s luminizers in Gold and Sand Beige in the waiting line though once the dust settles form these past few weeks. I like how you say it just gives a soft sheen to your skin tone. With my skin tone being about the same as yours and can expect about the same and I prefer a highlighter that is not screaming “Hey, look I am a highlighter!”. I will be keeping this in mind. 🙂

I have the wand version of this and I’m very impressed. After reading the review on this one I’m going back for this one. I swatched it in-store but was in a rush so I didn’t snag it. *back to Sephora I go*

WOW! That’s gorgeous! I just hit major pan on my Becca Opal and there’s one more day for the Sephora sale so I’m going in! Thank you (I think) 😉
