Inglot #103 and #293 Lipstick Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Inglot #103 Lipstick
Inglot #103 Lipstick

Inglot Lipstick ($12.00 for 0.16 oz.) is described as a “classic” formula that’s long-wearing and hydrating–a short ‘n’ sweet description to be sure! I just wrapped up testing two shades, and the formula on both was lightly creamy with enough slip to apply without dragging, richly pigmented, and long-wearing (but worth noting is that both shades I tried were on the brighter and deeper end of the spectrum, lighter shades may or may not wear as well). At best, very lightly hydrating but not drying. I didn’t notice any added scent, but I did detect a slight waxiness. Bonus: each lipstick is 0.16 oz., which is quite generous (lipsticks typically range from 0.10 to 0.12 oz.).

Inglot #103 Lipstick Cream ($12.00 for 0.16 oz.) is a vibrant, orange-red with a soft sheen and warm undertones. It had rich, full color coverage and applied evenly. This shade wore well for six hours. Givenchy Carmin Escarpin (306) (P, $36.00) is darker, more muted. NARS Short Circuit (LE, $26.00) is very similar. Dior Trafalgar (844) (P, $34.00) is also very similar. MAC Tomango (LE, $16.00) is matte. Urban Decay Bang (P, $22.00) is a smidgen lighter. Maybelline Orange Edge (LE, $7.49) is similar. Maybelline Vibrant Mandarin (P, $7.49) is a touch redder. MAC Sail La Vie (LE, $16.00) is slightly darker. MAC Neon Orange (LE, $16.00) is brighter. MAC Morange (P, $16.00) is brighter. Buxom Rogue (P, $21.00) is similar. See comparison swatches.

Inglot #293 Lipstick Cream ($12.00 for 0.16 oz.) is a deep, dark muted berry with cool undertones and a luminous sheen. The consistency of this shade was slightly more emollient and had more slip than #103, and I think it shows in the finish, which looks a bit wetter. It had mostly opaque pigmentation applied to lips, but there was a touch of translucency that kept it from looking heavy. The most noteworthy part about this color was how evenly it applied, as this is a color that can often look splotchy. When I tried this shade, it wore well for six hours and left behind a stain. Laura Mercier Merlot (P, $26.00) is much lighter, warmer. Guerlain Flirt (LE, $35.00) is lighter, more shimmery. Guerlain Gigolo (LE, $49.50) is redder. Guerlain Bee (LE, $49.50) is much lighter. Guerlain Nuit d’Amour (LE, $35.00) is lighter. See comparison swatches.

Just 103! I had a $100 (… okay, I went a little over that lol) budget when I was in California for the week so I mostly used part of that for the Inglot eyeshadows/palettes! 103 and 287 are the only lipsticks I have. 287 broke though, so lol. I’d really like to try more lipsticks and other Inglot products!

293 is sooo gorgeous! You always make me want to try orange lipstick because it looks so great on you, but I tried on MAC’s Lady Danger once and it made my teeth look so yellow… 🙁 and that even has red in it, I can only imagine how 103 would make them look.

Hi Jaclyn!

Rebel is lighter and brighter!

And a new feature we added recently is the capability for users to bring up any two swatches they want to compare over on the Swatch Gallery (http://www.temptalia.com/swatch-gallery) — for example, you can type in #293, select the Inglot lipstick, and then MAC Rebel and see those two side-by-side 🙂

I just recently tried this brand as have been so impressed! Yesterday I was in SF and went into Macy’s and saw their full display. Gorgeous? How do you choose? How would you best describe how it compares with other brands?
I did buy some eye shadow…signing up for a Macy’s card I got 15% ….crazy…but haven’t decided if I’ll keep it or get the new Urban Decay palette coming out next week. Any thoughts? Totally okay if not!
These look lovely on you.

orange-reds and deep berries are two of my favorite lipstick colors! i probably have dupes for both of these (i have some of the ones you listed and then some), but for only $12 apiece, i just might have to get these. i’ve never tried inglot and probably should. how do these compare with say, a mac lipstick? the look of inglot remind me of mac, but if you can think of anything else the formula is comparable to, i’d love to know!

Christine Avatar

They’re certainly on par with MAC! I think it’s a good, solid lipstick. Not ultra hydrating, and probably with so many cream shades, there is plenty of overlap with other brands/formulas, but if there’s a shade you’ve wanted in a cream, they probably have it!

#293 is beautiful in the tube, but swatched… it just falls flat. Not that it isn’t a beutiful shade applied, but the difference in how amazing it looks in the tube is a major disappointment, while the applied color is just so common. That said, it’s a very common occurrence in deeper shades; 99 times in 100, they’re never as interesting as they are in the tube.

I love both of them. I own both of the Vivids which are close dupes and also MAC Lady Danger which also looks to be close so I cannot justify #103 but I am a sucker for berry toned lippies and #293 is right up my alley!! I have never tried Inglot lipsticks but I have a few of their eyeshadows and they are great.

Inglot is such an amazing brand that is easily overlooked. They have really great products that perform well and are relatively reasonable in terms of pricing. I’m lucky to have a store right by me! And they’re selection is also great. I’m a sucker for purple, and before MAC re-released Heroine, I tried really hard to find a dupe. I finally found one that is pretty close color-wise (but not matte) at Inglot! I also think it was around ten euros!

Oh dear, I ran to buy 293 immediately after seeing your swatch because GUH ITS SO BEAUTIFUL but it’s not listed on the website from the link you provided? I checked 3 times so unless I’m missing something that lipstick isn’t available! Is it limited edition?

Kate Avatar

Glad to see their lipsticks getting some love. Although the colours aren’t as nuanced as some of the higher end ones, I find that they’re a great deal for what you get and there are so many shades to choose from that you’re bound to find something that works for you!

#293 looked so purple in the tube but it came out much redder than I expected. Still pretty, but I have Rebel (and two of its dupes, Wet n’ Wild Sugar Plum Fairy and Milani Sangria) so I definitely don’t need LOL!

I am really into oranges, however, so I might look into #103.

Ryou Avatar

293 is so vampy, I love it! While it may not have enough red to be a dupe for Guerlain Gigolo (to which I’ve been trying to find for a while), it’s gorgeous in its own accord.

Christine, you look dazzling.
You are selling me those lipstick shades, although I might have to pick up #293 until Fall/Winter.
Stunning.Well done!

#293 looks amazing. I love the way it resembles Mac’s Rebel but it’s an extra umph!

I look at it and wish it was what Mac’s “Boyfriend Stealer” should have been. That was a flop on so many levels….. blah…

Gina Avatar

Thanks so much for reviewing these, Christine! I was looking at these on BeautyLish the other day, and wondering how they were. Now I have my answer! I hope you’ll continue to review them! There’s a really cool sky blue shade in the range that I’m curious about….

Katrina Avatar

#293 is strikingly gorgeous. That’s the type of color I would wear even if I wasn’t going anywhere, just to have something so pretty to look at when passing a mirror. Not a bad price, either, considering how it performed and that it doesn’t look like a lot of other shades to me.
