Illamasqua Sleek Velvet Blusher Review, Photos, Swatches

Illamasqua Sleek Velvet Blusher
Illamasqua Sleek Velvet Blusher

Illamasqua Sleek Velvet Blusher ($26.00 for 0.18 oz.) is described as a “dusky coral.” It’s a medium-dark coral with a hint of pink and subtle warm undertones; there is a dusty/muted element to it, which may make it a great coral for anyone who has tended to shy away from the brighter releases. MAC Passion for Colour is lighter, powder. NARS Soulshine is powder. Chanel Presage is more orange. Edward Bess Secret Affair is powder. Tom Ford Flush is pinker, brighter, powder. Aveda Hibiscus is a powder. Burberry Blossom is a powder. Dior Coral Glow is a touch darker, powder. See comparison swatches.

This shade performed similarly to Peaked when I test-drove it yesterday. It wore well for eight hours and started to show some signs of fading after nine hours of wear. The consistency feels like a very thin, lightweight cream initially, but once it touches the skin, it turns slightly powdery. I feels more like a powder but retains the blendability of a cream product. The surface of the blush, though, feels stiff and hard, but whether you use fingertips or a brush to get the color off of the surface, you’ll have no trouble doing so–the blush is incredibly pigmented. It is buildable, blendable, and as a result, you can sheer out just a couple of dabs on the skin for a subtle flush or pat on more before blending for a more intense look. The formula reminded me a lot of Chanel’s Le Blush Creme de Chanel (and Illamasqua’s version is both cheaper and contains more product).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thanks, Fabiola! 🙂 My doc gave me a topical antibiotic to use on my face (I had hormonal cystic acne), and it seems to be helping! Maybe. Fingers crossed I didn’t speak too soon!!

Thanks for the review. As I suspected, too similar to what I already have. Too bad, b/c I really love their blushes, both powder and cream. Hopefully more colors in the near future.

OMG OMG this looks so gorgeous on you christine 🙂 <3 loving it your glowy skin and this blusher plus you are looking more fresh in this pic 🙂 and you are totally right i kind of shy of bright orange blushes so do u think that this will suit me? i have cool or neutral undertone? kindly do suggest whether i will buy it or not? bcz i have told you i don't have high end brands where i live so i have to order it online 🙁 thanx a bunch love for letting us know about this love love love love you christine muahhh u r the best <3 🙂

This looks lovely on you! And thank you for saving us some money from spending on chanel!! i will definitely try this one! May i ask you what brush you used for this blush? Thank you

Thanks! I’m having an eye on this one and on Swiss Dot by theBalm. SInce I have MAC’s Melba and Illamasqua’s Lover and Rude, are these (Sleek, Swiss dot) bushes similar enough to the ones I already have? I don’t put a lot of blush: will they look similar/same on cheeks? I’m pretty fair, Bobbi Brown 2.0 or MAC NC10-ish.
Thank you in advance.
