Illamasqua Pivot Eyeshadow
Illamasqua Pivot Eyeshadow
Illamasqua Pivot Eyeshadow ($20.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as a “yellow green.” It’s a medium chartreuse green with strong yellow undertones and a matte finish. There are a lot of chartreuse shades on the market, but this shade is less dupeable because it has a fair amount of green in it–it is more green than yellow. MAC Swimming is darker, greener. MAC Lucky Green is a little yellower and has a shimmery finish. Make Up For Ever #171 is the closest shade, though it’s more vibrant, lighter, and has a frosted finish.
The texture is the perfect balance of softness and density. It’s rich in color, soft like silk, but not at all powdery. With mattes, the more pigmented formulas tend to be softer but slightly powdery as a result–you’ll kick up a fair amount of excess powder when you disturb the top layer with your brush–but with Pivot, it’s soft enough to apply smoothly, evenly, and not skip or drag, but it never turns powdery. When worn alone, it wore for a full eight hours without creasing or fading. It was easier to blend the shade over a primer, though it was not overly difficult over bare lids (just marginally easier over a primer!).
It’s listed at Sephora but looks like it hasn’t been added to stock yet, but I expect it to show up officially soon. It is available at Illamasqua’s website, though, for international readers.

Christine – almost every post I see from you has a 4/5 or less rating for packaging. What would qualify for a 5/5?
@Emma Kennedy There are a ton of factors that go into packaging – functionality, how travel-friendly it is, material type (plastic vs. paper vs. metal), how dirty does it get, does it show fingerprints, etc. Illamasqua’s packaging is a bit bulky!
There are some set factors I look at, but then there are product-specific ones – e.g. sharpening won’t apply to all products but for a product it does apply to, it’s important!
That’s so pretty but I wonder is there is something close in inglot.
I own AMC 59 and think it is quite similar, but a little ‘dirtier’, you know..less striking? And not as smooth and pigmented.
I own it too and I’ve never got stellar color payoff with it. It’s too powdery and doesn’t pack on well for me. This looks like a much better option.
@Ani_BEE Good thinking…. if you find one let me know – I’m heading back to Inglot soon and would totally pick it up.
I’ll be very curious to see you create an interesting eye with this colour. I KNOW that it will be amazing.
Hey, do you think MAC Bitter is a dupe for this shade? 😛
Love your blog, Christine :)))
@MartinaVarkatzas Bitter is much yellower!
Very nice. I have to wait until the new Sugarpill palette comes out to compare the green shade in that with this Illamasqua shadow.
I think this color would only work for me during halloween.
How does it compare to MAC’s bitter eyeshadow?
@KelleyK04 Bitter is much yellower.
Beautiful lime green! Wow!
I can’t wait till Canadia gets this brand (or at least the Sephora in my city). I hear Illamasqua is more pigmented than MUFE?
I love this color! I always like it when it’s paired up with a teal. It would be fabulous with Illamasqua Intense.
@Phyrra OH I love that idea!!! Will definitely try pairing this with my Illamasqua teal when I get it! Thanks 😀
This colour isn’t at all me, but it’s amazing! Something I would only use for costume parties probably! x
Whoa what a bright shade! All I keep thinking about when I look at this is Kermit the frog, lol!
I’m very impressed with the quality of the swatch. You can actually see the quality. I don’t think I could pull off this particular shade, but the product looks impressive.
