If you could only use one brand for blush, which could you commit to?
Always tough to make a commitment… My favorite blush these days–and I feel like I could be happy with this range alone–is Marc Jacobs Airblush BUT the shade range is short, and I didn’t like the brand’s previous blush formula at all so I worry for the future… I feel more confident committing to MAC for all things blush as they’ve consistently made some great cheek formulas over the years.
It would be Dior Rosy Glow blush, which only comes in one shade. If I wanted more variety, it would be MAC for sure. So many shades, so many finishes and so many real winners.
NARS.
NARS Orgasm was the only shade I used for many years, so if NARS was the only brand I could have, I could live with that.
Ditto, but not because of NARS, mostly because of their mat shades and in particular the Unfiltered palettes (and actually a few other of their blush palettes).
I only use BeneFit Posietint in the first place. I’m on my third bottle and it just makes me so happy. It looks natural, works with every eye/lip I use, and lasts all day.
Haha, I feel like my answers to these are really disappointing.
Tempted to say tarte because I know I love their blush formula, but at the same time, I haven’t really dabbled in many other brands. I like the Charlotte Tilbury formula from the instant look in a palette, so if I could try some of their other colours and they suited me, perhaps I’d go with CT. I’ve also heard great things about mac (so many different colour and formula options!) and marc jacobs, so I’d be interested to look into those as well.
Definitely MAC as they have all the colors one could possibly need or want
Clinique – their Cheek Pops have been life-changing for me. The Marc Jacobs had tons of fallout and sat on my face like talcum powder 🙁 One of the few MU items I’ve ever returned!
I want to try the Glossier Cloud Paint but just haven’t bit the bullet yet!
I would go with MAC but a close runner up would be Nars. I love both of these companies various blush formulas.
I’d probably say Nars. I love pretty much every blush I own from them and they have a great range.
That being said, if I could choose only one specific blush to commit to it would be Burberry Silk & Bloom blush. It’s my HG.
Nars. I have and favor many brands, but N makes the can’t live withouts and delivers on great multicolored palettes. He’s great for bold, applied with a light hand, so even Taj Mahal and Exhibit A can look refined.
Easy, NARS; I can even narrow it down to a specific shade, Douceur. Sin & The Multiple in Riviera are also close contenders. If, for some reason, I had to replace it, I’d probably go with MAC, or skip it all together…
Hourglass has some of my favorite blush formulas, but it’s hard to pass up the sheer size of MAC’s color and formula range, so I’d have to say MAC as well!
Oooooh, tough one. I’d say Glossier. They don’t have a huge shade range but their Cloud Paint in Puff is the only cheek product I’ve ever made a dent in. If I wanted more variety in shades/finishes, I’d go with ColourPop (some of their “highlighters” are more like blushes for me).
MAC for all the cheek formulas they carry.
This is a close one between Nars and MAC. Nars has a slight edge since it seems to have more staying power on my skin.
Ditto for MAC as a number two!
I’m gonna go with theBalm. I really love every cheek product I’ve tried from them.
I have two favorite blushes based on finish and shade and those are Ciate Summer Love and Nars Goulue. I wish that Ciate had a better shade range in the same formula as I own all the shades and definitely feel like I can’t use them with every look. I do love Nars blushes overall but if I had to choose just one brand, and this makes no sense since it isn’t one of my top two, I would go with MAC.
As I have been answering these questions I have found that I have answered MAC much more than I thought I would and that surprises me a little as MAC doesn’t come readily to mind when I talk makeup but since they started so far ahead of the beauty/makeup explosion, they have taken advantage of that and have released a lot of products that span the whole gamete of shades and formulas. I think if I had to only use MAC products in any classification, I could be happy for the rest of my life but thankfully, I don’t have too!!
If UD hadn’t gone and very STUPIDLY dc’d their Afterglow blushes, that’s what I would have picked. But they did. Therefore, it’s between MAC and Nars. Both formulas are very easy for me to work with and have fantastic shades for those of us darker than say NC30 or NW25. With MAC likely being easier to get replacements for shades if I were to *ever* run out, I guess.
OMG, I hadn’t heard UD was going to DC their Afterglow blushes! WTF?!
I join Rachel in her WTF response! They’ve discontinued some of the best blushes ever???? Why are companies so crazy to do things like this?
That was basically my own response when I was told this by an SA at Ulta: like WTAF! At a later date, I asked someone who works as an MUA at Sephora, she affirmed it, but, she added that she was under the impression that UD itself might still be selling them. I think it’s crazy either way.
The highlighters too, I see from the Sephora site. I’d always sort of planned to get Sin (I have Aura and it’s a better shade for me than Sin but I figured I’d get Sin at some point). It’s no longer available in store within a 150 km range of where I live.
It is crazy! I hope UD itself keeps them, at least.
Rachel, if UD knows what’s good for their business (aka: customer loyalty), they will. But we all know how they love to discontinue beloved products and reformulate stuff. Thinking about getting b/up JIC.
NARS 100%
Tarte, because their formula works really well with my oily skin. They put out blush palettes pretty regularly. I especially love Exposed and their coral shades. They’re CF. The only downside is they don’t have a purple.
Other contenders: UD Afterglow (mainly for Rapture and Bittersweet ), Too Faced, and Milani.
What kind of brush do you use to apply the target brushes?
Sorry. I meant “tarte blushes.” Autocorrect is my bane
I use the Real Techniques Blush Brush (the fluffy one with the pink handle), so they don’t apply too bright/dark on my fair skin.
I used Nars Orgasm exclusively for years, then I finished it. I seem to have a collection of blushes now and the Hourglass Edit Unlocked Palette has worked it’s way into the top right now, and I am very happy with that, it has everything I need in one palette.
Revlon. I’m not as adventurous colorfully with blush as I am with eye or lip products-as it is, I only have 3 or 4 shades I rotate from now, which is probably about the number of Revlon shades that could work on me.
Clinique Cheek Pops…I have most shades, but Heather Pop is my HG favorite. The formula is so perfect. It’s easy to blend and long wearing. It’s just my favorite and I have no complaints or anything negative to say about it.
I’d say MAC bc I do own my fair share from that brand but tbh if I could only wear from one brand, it would be Clinique. Their Cheek Pops are soooo good!
If I have to choose right now to use just one brand for blush (pure blush, without highlighter in it), it would be Clinique. Their Cheek Pop formula is buttery without being powdery and it melts into my skin. It doesn’t matter if it’s +30C or -30C, it stays the same on my skin.
Very close are Hourglass and W3ll People (their Multi-Use Cream Stick in Nude Rose is my go-to during winter).
I intentionally left out Ciaté (one of faves) because I consider their is a hybrid between blush and highlighter.
I also love MAC but some of their blushes look powdery on me, especially in winter. I have one of their Extra Dimension Skinfinish Blushes and while I like it, I love the Ciaté formula more.
My blush commitment is MAC this is also my makeup brand, I love the color range they offer.
Again, an indie — Aromaleigh.
If not the above, then it’d be a toss-up between Viseart and Surratt. I can’t remember the blush sizes; I think price-point wise, Viseart has the edge, but … they don’t have a shimmery yellow blush!
Chanel- love the shades, the formulas, the diffuse application that is buildable.
NARS does have a great tried and true range in blushes, but I have never tried them because they are just way too expensive here in Aus.
I do like the Clarins Prodige blush in Sweet Peach – mattish finish and my compact has lasted all year.
On another note, I hope everyone is safe from those awful, shocking bushfires that California has been experiencing in the last week or so. Thinking of those affected and the devastion that has been wrought upon them and their state. May some really good rain come to put these fires out.
I feel the same about California. I’m on the other side of the US, and it’s been really rainy here for months. Too bad we can’t get some of that water over to the left coast.
Nars are pricey here too but worth it. and I grabbed a palette that has Orgasm blush (my fave), Laguna bronzer, (my fave), and a highlighter that I haven’t tried but know I will love. That was a good buy. $42 on Sephora, and then I used my 20% off for the VIB Rouge sale.
Nars used to make my favorite blushes but now I love Hourglass blushes the best. Hourglass blushes look so luminous and smooth and last all day on me. If I had one complaint it would be that Hourglass doesn’t have enough color variety. I can only wear about half of their blushes the others are too light for my complexion.
Favorite is Nars. Also Milani baked blushes are very good too fir being drugstore.
Oh! Am I’m living the Ciate eyeshadows shown beautiful vivid colors and the Tim Fird lipsticks! Especially the Felitia one (I think that’s the spelling?) awww love the shade!?
NARS
Chanel Rose Bronze – the color is perfect. It can adapt to rose, bronze or red shades that I wear it with. It can be subtle enough for a bold eye or lip, or
Buildable for a nude lip. The formula is finely milled. I have other blushes I wear for color sometimes (Lots of Chanel,Tom Ford, Charlotte Tilbury, Nars) but somehow on my way out the door this is the one I always apply a top layer of.
Definately Chanel!
Definately Chanel! Perhaps as second choice Nars!
Nars. Orgasm blush is all I need.
It would probably be Mac, just because they have so many different finishes. Clinique Cheek pop comes in at a close second
