Huda Beauty Smokey Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette Review, Photos, Swatches
Smokey
Huda Beauty Smokey Obsessions Eyeshadow Palette ($27.00 for 0.35 oz.) includes nine shades of neutral, mostly warm-toned eyeshadows with a mix of matte and shimmer finishes. The majority of the shades were quite good, and I found the palette easy to use. The eyeshadows were semi-opaque to opaque, blendable, and long-wearing overall. It also leaned less warm-toned than most palettes these days, so that was nice to see, too!

Smokey #1
Smokey #1 is a deep black with neutral undertones and a matte finish. The consistency was incredibly smooth and silky but thin. It was a bit harder to control and apply, as it did not seem to adhere quite as well to the skin as I expected. It was richly pigmented and lasted for eight hours on me.

Smokey #2
Smokey #2 is a soft, light brown with warmer undertones and a matte finish. It had good color coverage but was quite powdery, so there was a lot of excess product that kicked up in the pan, even when I used a light hand. The eyeshadow blended out well and stayed on nicely for eight hours.

Smokey #4
Smokey #4 is a smoky, light pewter with a sparkling, metallic finish. The texture was chunkier, though it was almost cream-like, which made it apply better than I expected and didn’t have as much fallout as one would think. It would apply better with a slightly dampened brush, though. It had good color payoff and lasted for eight hours on me with some fallout.

I just ordered mine this week! The silver colour was what caught my eye. Can’t wait to receive it! 🙂
I love it , it’s on my wishlist 🙂
I love this little gem of a palette. It has everything that the Colour Pop one from yesterday did not:
Variety of finishes
Consistently very good to excellent ratings
No dud shades
And personally, I love the colours – a perfect mix of warm to cool toned neutrals.
I think this will be my first Huda purchase.
Also – beautiful eye look Christine.
What a nice little palette, love the eye look you created with it.
For some reason, I’m getting an UD Naked 2 vibe from this little palette! But easier to travel with, though. I love it!
I just got this in my VIB haul, but it shattered in the mail (and of course it was the black eyeshadow – hello mess!) I’m going in store over the weekend to see if they have one that I can trade it for. I was so sad, because it looks gorgeous!!
It would be great, if one could return to store and generate a replacement to be sent, should they not have it ‘live.’ Just had a laser ship mishap. It took 13 days, iirc. There were 4 sets of route #s crossed out, directions in both Spanish and Portuguese written all over the package. Happened to be home. The driver was exceptionally confused and spoke very minimal English. Considering the handling, had there been powder products, know they would have been destroyed. Not thrilled, but kind of feel bad for the people who are ill equipped to do the deliveries. The price of cost control. As to the palette, quite well executed; the price is right, but not for me.
This particular palette is the one I have seen the most YT videos on and the looks have been stunning. Your eye look is killer, Christine.
I don’t need anymore neutrals but this would make an excellent travel palette if so many weren’t shattering in the mail. Makes me nervous for travelling with it.
OMG LOVE the bold smoky eye you did here! Proves that neutral doesn’t always mean boring! I ordered mine during Sephora sale, still waiting for it to ship. I normally don’t go for neutral palettes, but love the mix of finishes, and the mix of cooler and “warmer” shades in here, and as you said, the warm ones aren’t so warm compared to most palettes on the palette.
#5 and #7 are almost exact color dupes with a slight different in finish. To me, that seems odd in such a small palette.
I’ve seen the warm one and I thought it was really hot (sorry for the pun), probably this one is more “wearable” and… what a true black!!!
xxx
Fantastic look you created, Christine!
Thanks, Susan! xo
I’ve been waiting for your reviews on these new Huda palettes because I love the Desert Dusk And Textured Shadows palettes of hers that I have but I had been reading mixed reviews on these.I like that they are smaller so they will be easier to travel with!
