Hourglass Luminous Flush Ambient Lighting Blush Review, Photos, Swatches
Hourglass Luminous Flush Ambient Lighting Blush
Hourglass Luminous Flush Ambient Lighting Blush ($35.00 for 0.15 oz.) is described as a “champagne rose.” It’s a pink-tinged coral with warm undertones and a golden shimmer-sheen finish. Depending on the lighting, it looked pinker and less pink/more true coral. I could walk into one room and see the pink tones, and then walk into another room and lose them almost entirely. I think if you have stronger pink undertones (compared to my yellow), it may stay pinker-toned on you, but the undertone is definitely warm. Clinique Peach Pop (02) (P, $21.00) is darker. Tarina Tarantino Feather (P, $25.00) is lighter. Tarte Crave (LE, $26.00) is darker, pinker. NARS Day Dream (LE, $29.00) is slightly darker. Too Faced Melt Into Spring (LE) is darker, less shimmery. Physicians Formula Warm (P, $11.99) is similar. MAC Supercontinental (LE, $21.00) is warmer. See comparison swatches. This shade seems to fall in-between Diffused Heat and Radiant Magenta; they’re not dupes when swatched, but on, they look more similar than dissimilar.
The powder had a soft, smooth texture that wasn’t too powdery (and less powdery than others in the range). It blended effortlessly on the skin, so it was easy to apply and nearly impossible to overdo! The color coverage seemed true-to-pan, and the color could be built up in thin layers or applied more intensely from the get-go. I didn’t see any visible sparkle, just a satiny sheen that gave a glow and sheen to the skin without emphasizing pores. The color wore well for eight and a half hours before beginning to decline in intensity.

How do you think this would look on a lighter skin tone??
I think it would work!
Thanks! 🙂 Guess I’ll be adding it to my list…..
I’m around an NC15 or Guerlain Lingerie de Peau 2 and it looks beautiful on, if that helps. 🙂
Im not sold on Luminous Flush. 🙁 Sadly! It doesnt seem unique at all.
Actually, come to think of it – I’m not particularly drawn to any of these except maybe Dim Infusion!
My question is – WHAT’S THE DIFFERENCE OF THESE to normal blushes from other brands, high end and drugstore?
They’re not really any different to me than the average powder blush – it’s a really nice, high quality blush, but I wouldn’t say it’s a different formula entirely from any other powder product.
I’m trying to decide on purchasing just one (maybe two). Christine, what do you think? I have yellow undertone, and is a little lighter than you (NC20-25)! Would love to hear your thoughts 🙂
They’re all about the same quality so far, and honestly, they all look about the same on me as well (I am NC25), so there’s none that I lean towards personally!
I am eager to try one of these but not sure which will suit me. Love this shade. I’m cool but with red hair. Gotta swatch ’em myself, I guess!
You probably can’t go too wrong with any of them, since they’re more similar than not!
Interesting that this shade is so changeable! You know, there is truly endless fascination in what they manage to make cosmetics do (although that can manifest in both positive and negative ways, I guess! :-D)
It drives me bananas 😉
I don’t know what it is lately, but I keep discovering all these gorgeous new blushes here! My wish list is taking ridiculous proportions, and YOU are the one to blame, lol.
Oops!
This looks so lovely on you, Christine! I purchased this and Dim Infusion and they arrive tomorrow — I hope they look as good on me as they do on you! Thanks for all the quick, thorough reviews :).
Always happy to help, Carolyn! I’m sure it will 🙂
This is so lovely! I may add this shade to my wishlist!
Yay!
Between these blushes and the new Clinique blushes I am doomed! I want them all, they’re so pretty!
Oh no! 😉
It looks great on you!
Thanks, Rikki!
Wow, this looks much warmer than i expected. I’m still waiting for the pink one that you ordered (Etherial?).
Hope it ships soon, but who knows! I’ve never ordered directly from Hourglass before (always through Sephora).
Christine, between Luminous Flush and Radiant Magenta, which one do you personally like better overall?
Thanks!
They’re pretty much the same quality and look similar on me, so they’re interchangeable to me! Radiant Magenta is “darker.”
This one is REALLY pretty, but I’d have to swatch it in person to see if it differs at all with my Radient Magenta… Which I just received today. You weren’t kidding about the pigmentation! One dab with a brush and I had plenty on my cheeks! Gorgeous effect once it’s on, though.
*Radiant, even. I can spell, I promise!
So glad you’re enjoying Radiant Magenta, Larissa! 🙂
Christine, which of these have the most sheen?
I haven’t finished wearing and testing them all, so I don’t know yet!
Oh ok! I’m sorry…thank u for all the great reviews:)
Will keep you posted! 🙂 I will do a round-up once I’m all done!
So gorgeous! I really don’t know which one I want lol. Like you mentioned Radiant and Diffused look pretty similar on so I know I don’t need all 3. I can’t wait to check them out in stores!
I feel like you might be best off with Radiant Magenta, just because it seems to be darkest from the get-go, so it will show up better on deeper skin tones.
On point Christine. I’m NC50 with golden/neutral undertones. I bought Radiant Magenta, Mood Exposure and Diffused Heat. Got them today. The Radiant Magenta and Diffused Heat are the only ones that complimented my cheeks. I used several types of a brushes including Mac 168, Hakuhodo, Nars Yachiyo and even my Real Techniques duo fibre to see if it made a difference. I think the Mac 168 gave me the best results. BTW, I appreciate all the swatching you do with various brushes and techniques. It’s exhausting (lol)! I only did all this swatching because these blushes are so doggone pretty in person and I really wanted to love them all. Unfortunately, only Radiant Magenta is a keeper for my golden brown cheeks. It is a very warm, light pink color on my skin. On the upside, I get my money back and will try Clinique’s Ginger Pop instead!
Hi Erica!
Thanks so much for sharing your experience! It is always super helpful when readers with different skin tones and undertones chime in, because it helps me pass on the info to other readers.
I usually don’t have to work TOO hard with 234897234 tools, unless a product isn’t working right/well, then you have to start experimenting, lol! I’m glad Radiant Magenta is working out at least. Really good to know that Mood Exposure didn’t, since that seems to be the next “darkest” in the bunch.
Thanks so much, Erica! This was super helpful to me! I got radiant magenta and love it. I was debating mood exposure next but will now wait until I can see in person.
I went between this one and Radiant Magenta but ended up with Radiant Magenta because Luminous Flush wasn’t available. UPS should be here any minute with it and I’m dying to see it IRL. They all look beautiful on you. I use Dim Light daily as my finishing powder so I hope it works with this blush.
Let us know what you think, Olive!
I am really disappointed (but my bank account is happy) they all look really similar I really can’t find a point of difference between them. Think I will only get one
Well, at least someone is happy ;P
Though the shades are pretty, I find them more similar than not. I expected a lot more variation in shades based on descriptions 🙂
Me too, Vineetha!
This is a bit disappointing. While I can see subtle differences in the swatches, on the face I can’t tell any significant difference. It seems that they would release a wider range of colors.
I think in person, one might note the differences a bit more (not a lot on my skin tone, though), and of course, if you are cooler-toned and/or very fair, the differences might be more emphasized!
Very similar to Wet N Wild Naive and Melow Wine!!
I think I’ll just wait to form any opinions either wa until I see/swatch them in-store… Although the differences do seem nearly imperceptible, I’m sooo picky when it comes to blush that sometimes the most subtle differences really do sway me.
I’m also very curious how different they’ll end up on my beyond neutral skintone, since colors tend seem amplified on me…
I love that the blush kinda does a color change thing depending on lighting and paint, lol. Are any of these new blushes actually cool toned? They all seem warm toned!
Which lipgloss or lipstick are you wearing here? Its the perfect color! I am same skintone then you, please let me know, thank you!
YSL Corail Intuitive (15) Rouge Volupte Shine Lipstick
Thank you for the great review Christine as always 🙂
I like this color on you the most!
I am in between NC35-C4, however I wanted Diffused heat and Radiant Magenta both, would you say I can just get Luminous Flush rather buying DH and RM both colors? seems like this one falls kind of in between to those two shades… Please advise for me 🙂
Thank you !
Yes, I think you could get away with just Luminous Flush!
