Guerlain Yellow It-stick (603) Rouge Automatique
Guerlain Yellow It-stick (603) Rouge Automatique

Guerlain Yellow It-stick (603) Rouge Automatique ($37.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “golden tone.” It’s a brightened, yellowed base with fine gold shimmer. It’s supposed to have an “iridescent, sheer finish” for a “barely there look,” so as you might expect… it is sheer. If you wanted to wear bright, sunshine yellow on your lips, you’re out of luck. If you wanted a sheer layer of golden shimmer, this is your speed. It has a lightweight, very emollient, wet-like feel on the lips, so it glides on without tugging. On its own, it lasts only two hours, making it one of the shorter-wearing shades I’ve tried in the formula, though it was hydrating. MAC Highlights (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Tom Ford Beauty William (LE, $32.00) is more pigmented, less glossy. NYX Mischievous (P, $6.00) is more pigmented. Tom Ford Beauty Solar Gold (LE, $49.00) is very similar. MAC Playland (LE, $16.00) is more shimmery/pigmented. Dolce and Gabbana Topazio (LE, $33.00) is darker, more pigmented. Guerlain Altoum (LE, $35.00) is more sparkly. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Triptych (P, $18.00) is more pigmented, more shimmery. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Guerlain Fluo Stiletto (662) Rouge Automatique ($37.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “neon pink.” It’s an extremely bright, magenta fuchsia with cool, blue undertones and a soft shine. It had semi-opaque color coverage that went on fairly evenly with a lightweight consistency that wasn’t too thick or too thin. It wore well for five hours and left a slight stain behind while feeling moisturizing while worn. It is a very dupable color, as this is just one of those shades that every brand seems to do at some point, though less do it with the glossier finish (many options are more matte), but there are still lots of variations on it. NYX Privileged (P, $6.00) is lighter. Maybelline Orchid Ecstasy (730) (P, $7.49) is very similar. Tom Ford Beauty Pablo (LE, $32.00) is slightly darker. Tom Ford Beauty Jack (LE, $32.00) is more muted. Tom Ford Beauty Justin (LE, $32.00) is more shimmery. NARS Angela (P, $32.00) is more opaque, cooler-toned. MAC Boutique Pink (LE, $22.00) is similar. MAC Lust Extract (LE, $17.00) is more muted. Givenchy Rose Perfecto (209) (P, $36.00) is similar. MAC Kelly Yum-Yum (LE, $16.00) is similar. Too Faced Melted Fuchsia (P, $21.00) is darker. MAC Happy-Go-Lucky (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Sephora + Pantone Universe Radiant Rush (LE, $18.00) is darker. Bite Beauty Violet (P, $24.00) is brighter. Bite Beauty Moscato (P, $28.00) is brighter. Bite Beauty Satsuma (LE, $24.00) is brighter, less glossy. Marc Jacobs Beauty Gossip (140) (LE, $30.00) is more matte. NARS Full Frontal (LE, $26.00) is more muted. Marc Jacobs Beauty Happy Ending (116) (P, $30.00) is lighter. Urban Decay Anarchy (P, $22.00) is darker. Maybelline Electric Fuchsia (LE, $7.49) is brighter. NARS Yu (P, $25.00) is more matte. MAC Pink Pigeon (P, $16.00) is more matte. MAC Daddy’s Little Girl (LE, $16.00) is more muted. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Honestly I don’t anyone who would willingly pay 37.00 for a virtually transparent lipstick that last for 2 hrs at best. I’m honestly surprised it scored so well.

I rate based on what it’s supposed to do – it’s supposed to be sheer 🙂 It’s not fair to downgrade a product simply because of a preference for pigmentation (or not) if the product is what it’s supposed to be. That’s like getting mad that a moisturizer for oily skin isn’t moisturizing enough for dry skin, you know? There are, though, many who do prefer sheerer lip products, otherwise formulas like Chanel Rouge Coco Shines wouldn’t be so popular!

I really like both of these. I think they are over priced though. I actually prefer the Yellow-It-Stick over the other because it is less dupable for me. However, I purchased all 4 of the Tom Ford lip sheers and I don’t really feel the need for another especially at this price.

Exactly! I was really hoping for a special release with this to add to my happy little box of limited Guerlain powders. I’ve pretty much decided to skip this collection and move on to the new single eye shadows.

I love Fluo Stiletto, and fortunately I have a bazillion dupes. I don’t like Yellow Stick-It enough to pay this much for it, but I do think it’s very pretty for layering.

I was kind of gutted this wasn’t a bright yellow lipstick! Would have loved to have seen what that would look like 😀 To be fair I do really like the finish, it looks really glamorous, the kind of lips you would expect a greek goddess to have.

I like the “yellow” one, but I’m quite certain I have a gloss similar enough in my stash to serve the same purpose (as a layering shade), so I’ll find somewhere else to spend the $37-which shouldn’t be too difficult, LOL! The pink is pretty, too, just not my cup of tea…

Hi! I’m new here. I never buy a high end lipstick without checking it out here first.

Christine , would the yellow compliment an nc45 in Mac studio complexion? Will the shimmer show? Its so pretty.

Angela Avatar

Thanks Christine! How does the Guerlain Rouge Automatique Yellow It-Stick 603 compare to MAC Highlights lipstick? I have MAC Highlights and I’m wondering if I could skip this one. Which has more shimmer?

Angela Avatar

Yes, I realize it is listed as a dupe above. With the various pixels and screen resolutions, it is a bit of a challenge to see which has more shimmer.

JC Avatar

Christine, does Fluo Stiletto have a gold sheen to it or is that an artefact from the camera/lighting? If so, maybe it’s not so dupe-able except with a couple of the Marc Jacobs LoveMarc Lip Gels? Either way, it’s a beautiful color on you!

It’s really funny, but many years back, Revlon had a Moondrops lippy with spf that honestly looked a whole lot like this yellow one! And I got it to wear to the beach, lol! I wouldn’t wear something like this now though. As for the fuchsia one….I am all fuchsia-d out! Already have Pink Pigeon, Anarchy, Fuchsia Flash, Orchid Ecstasy, and a softer, more watermelon fuchsia in Diva-ish. Gotta thank you for saving me some $$$ though! Lots of stuff on my wishlist to try to get!

The yellow one is actually quite pretty on. I have a sunscreen stick for eyes and lips that gives a similar kind of gold shimmer coating. It’s Boots No. 7 brand, which I think is available in some US drugstores (in some Shoppers locations in Canada), and it was under a tenner here. Having to reapply often doesn’t hurt so much with a cheap product!
