Guerlain Wild Nudes Eyeshadow Quad Review & Swatches
Wild Nudes (258)
Guerlain Wild Nudes (258) Ombres G Quad Eyeshadow Palette ($85.00 for 0.2 oz.) is a mid-tone, neutral color story that was warm-toned and featured three matte eyeshadows and one shimmer. The shimmer was top tier in quality, while the mattes were still quite good, but two were a smidgen powdery.

Formula Overview
-
The formula is supposed to have "intense pigments for long-lasting color" across four finishes: "intense satin," "deep matte," luminous metallic," and "radiant pearl." The majority of the shades were quite pigmented applied dry, but it seemed, by texture and look of the pan, to be a wet/dry formula to me, so I tried them damp as well. I didn't feel like using them dampened was necessary except for a few of the "radiant pearl" finish shades, which had more shimmer/sparkle.
The "deep matte" finish tended to have a firmer and more cream-like feel, so using a denser brush to pick up to apply and diffuse color was best, while the other finishes were more moderately-dense--firm but not stiff--and blended out well as they "melted" on my skin. The eyeshadows lasted around eight hours on me before showing signs of fading with a few getting closer to nine hours of wear.

This is lovely. Is it worth $85.00? Maybe to some lucky collector!
Even for $85 (outrageous but not as outrageous as the $115 this costs in Canada), I want a lot more excitement and wonderfulness in a quad. A few years ago, those new (and now d/c’d or reformulated) 5 pans from Dior offered better value, better quality and a lot more “excitement” (even the neutral ones) that this does, in my opinion.
For what it’s worth, it’s actually a good value compared to the American price in Shoppers Drug Mart. It’s online for $99. I have a different one from this series and it is as excellent as Christine says.
It’s lovely to see some neutral palettes coming out and good quality ones at that. I like the brand is catering to both shimmer lovers like myself and those who prefer a mostly matte finish. This is quite a cohesive quad.
As lovely as this quad looks, I’m willing to bet there are some Colourpop palettes with similar colours that perform just as well.
What I wouldn’t give for a nice four or five pan e/s palette that was all cool toned and got an A rating. It could happen, right?
Guerlain used to have just such a creature about a million years ago – the quad Les Fumes. I still have it and use it and I remember distinctly that it was the eyeshadow quad I used for my daughter’s wedding.
Feels like one Almay quad that I literally wore to DEATH during the 90’s except the orange shade in that one was deeper, there was NO pink, but a satin light golden shade and the two brown shades looked like these. Brings me back…
I had to laugh at the name, “Wild Nudes”! Nothing wild about it, IMHO, it does look nice, but I have enough of warmer nudes to last a very long time.
I do want one like this, with really great quality but cool-neutral shades. I doubt I’d pay as much for it, though, as we’d have to add some 25% to the cost for taxes.
