Guerlain Terra Nerolia Tan-Enhancing Bronzer Review, Photos, Swatches
Guerlain Terra Nerolia Tan-Enhancing Bronzer
Guerlain Terra Nerolia Tan-Enhancing Bronzer ($69.00 for 0.67 oz.) is described as a mix of “shimmering peach, bronze, and gold shades.” The center ring is a warm-toned, peachy orange with a nearly matte finish. NARS Sex Appeal is lighter and pinker. MAC Cream Soda is similar but slightly pinker (not as orange). MAC My Highland Honey is darker and more orange. The outer ring is a medium-dark tan brown with a satiny finish. MAC Double Definition is browner with a stronger sheen. Burberry Summer Glow is very similar. Wet ‘n’ Wild Carnival in Rio is darker.
When I was playing with the product, the gold shimmer seemed like an over-spray, so I dusted it away with a large, fluffy brush, and the majority of it disappeared. There were some residual shimmer particles that remained over the entire surface, but after scraping away some of the bronzer shade later on, it looked nearly matte.
I applied the center color like a blush onto the apples of cheeks, and then I applied the darker, bronzer shade as more of a contour and darkening shade. The center shade had good color payoff, but it’s the kind of color that is going to show up better on fairer complexions than mine–if you mix it as a way to lighten or soften the darker ring of color, the combination would show up on medium skin tones.
The darker color also had good pigmentation, and it can be lightened by mixing it with the center shade. The powder as a whole had a smooth, velvety feel–very finely-milled and blendable without being powdery. Terra Nerolia wore eight hours well on me, and then after nine hours, there was some light fading. This powder is heavily scented with Guerlain’s tiare flower scent (like the Terracotta line), which is a very strong floral fragrance to me. I don’t smell it as much when it is applied, but it wafts from the compact quite noticeably. This is also a huge compact filled with bronzer, so it will last you quite awhile (maybe a lifetime?).

Can you add a photo of how it looks once the overspray is dusted off? That would be super helpful!
All the gold areas in the outer ring are the same color as the brown portions, and the center is all just the peachy/orange color. HTH!
Oh great, I love this one as well, lol! I actually slightly prefer it maybe even more because of the finish and that peach, so pretty! The pattern is really nice, they really did a good job on both bronzers this time!
I wish they wouldn’t scent their powders so strongly. The Terracotta powder I tried smelled so strong it almost knocked me over! lol Who wants that much fragrance in their face products?! This powder looks gorgeous but sadly me and my sensitive skin will have to pass for this reason.
Some of them can be really strong in the compact, though I don’t notice the smell when I apply the product to the face (thankfully, because most of them are floral and I’m not a floral person usually!).
Thanks for the review–Guerlain makes the best products!
What type of brush do you recommend for application? I use Guerlain’s Terracotta Bronzing Powder, which is very finely milled, amd it seems works best with a very softbrush. While on the other hand, a stiffer brush is recommended for Meteorites.
I’d recommend using the same brush you use with the Bronzing Powder with this – the textures are similar. The Perles tend to need something stiffer to “dislodge” the powder from the surface 🙂
This is GORGEOUS in the packaging, but it’s more orange than I expected.
I agree. Definitely too orange for me. 🙁
That’s what struck me – ORANGE!
eeepp I see bronzer orange and cringe. It’s not a product for me. but can appreciate it for others.
That’s very pretty and it looks great on you.
This looks really good on you Christine!
Tell us about the packaging, please? Is it one of those hefty, lacquered looking ones? What do you think of the price point in terms of quantity compared to other high end brands?
Also, as much as I love it when your make-up focused on the product being reviewed, I did miss a *full face makeup. Either way is Beautiful but I’m glad to see you’re wearing products together again! =)
It’s a thin, black plastic compact. It’s not particularly special, but there’s nothing wrong with it – but nothing interesting to say or nothing to note! The price point is what I’d expect from Guerlain and brands like it – you get a ton of product, which is more than you might with other brands.
Thanks Christine!
Do you know if this will be at Sephora? Shipping to Canada from Nordstrom is quite expensive!
It should be! As far as I know, the collection will be sold at all Guerlain retailers. I’d say that since this isn’t at Nordstrom yet (but they’re usually one of the first to release new collections), we’re looking at May to mid-May!
Any reviews on the meteroites and eyeshadows of this collection?
Thanks
Liz
You can also try Saks as well. Check for a promo code at the top of the home page as 99% of the time they have free domestic and int’l shipping. Ditto for Neiman Marcus. Nordstrom uses FiftyOne as an intermediary to facilitate customs/brokerage. Sometimes this is a whole other pain as they then ship from their clearing house using DHL who rarely show up on the deliver dates posted on-line, can’t find my house, try to deliver to our barn..etc..etc.. you get the idea.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Honestly, the peachy orange swatch looks chalky/ powdery to me, especially when compared to the bronzer swatch.
I’m new to and never tried this company, are they vegan or cruelty free?
That color is beautiful! Especially with that lip color.
I super love the look such as the packaging. I wonder if it will look too orange on my skin. I am really curious about and I am thinking of trying it out. Let us see….
It annoys me when companies do these oversprays. Honestly, if you buy it because you love how it looks when you first see it, then you’ll be disappointed when one of the factors that caused you to purchase it turns out to be a temporary surface embellishment that is gone in a couple of uses. Others might pass on a product that has this shimmer when, in fact, underneath the temporary shimmer, there’s a product they would actually like.
Too warm and golden brown for me. I really wish Guerlain would come out with something similar to the Terra Inca powder from 2(?) years ago. It was a great product both color wise (love the hint of pink!) and fragrance wise. I absolutely love the scent of that (although I’m not a fan of scented makeup), all other Guerlain scents are so offensive to me and I can barely tolerate most of them. You really shouldn’t be able to smell your bronzer on your face 8 hours after applying it like I can with my regular terracotta bronzer.
This is so gorgeous. This entire collection by Guerlain is simply stunning! It’s a great color on you too! I will so be nabbing this come summer.
Hi,
How would you compare to the Bronze Goddess bronzer from Estee Lauder?
I don’t think I have that shade!
Oh no…yet another product that I want/need from Summer ’13. GOD I love summer collections soooo much but I really should’ve started saving for longer to afford all these!! 😛 haha
I heard that this has a perfumed scent?
Here is what I said in the review: “This powder is heavily scented with Guerlain’s tiare flower scent (like the Terracotta line), which is a very strong floral fragrance to me. I don’t smell it as much when it is applied, but it wafts from the compact quite noticeably. This is also a huge compact filled with bronzer, so it will last you quite awhile (maybe a lifetime?).”
Hope this helps!
