Guerlain Rouge Parade & L'Oiseau de Feu Gloss d'Enfer Maxi Shine Lipglosses Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Guerlain Rouge Parade (920) Gloss d’Enfer Maxi Shine Lipgloss
Guerlain Rouge Parade (920) Gloss d’Enfer Maxi Shine Lipgloss ($30.00 for 0.25 fl. oz.) is described as a “deep black cherry.” It’s a deepened red with cool undertones and a creamy, lightly shiny, finish. It makes me think of “blood red” more than “black cherry,” though. It was mostly opaque, applied evenly, and didn’t settle into lip lines. It wore well for four and a half hours. The consistency is lightweight, gel-like, lightly hydrating, and non-sticky. Dior Vie d’Enfer (869) (P, $35.00) is warmer, lighter. MAC RiRi Woo (LE, $15.00) is similar. MAC Driven by Love (P, $19.50) is more shimmery. MAC Send Me Sailing (LE, $15.00) is darker. MAC Russian Red (P, $15.00) is redder. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Guerlain L’Oiseau de Feu (900) Gloss d’Enfer Maxi Shine Lipgloss ($30.00 for 0.25 fl. oz.) is described as a “sheer top coat with golden pearl.” It’s gold shimmer suspended in clear gloss. It’s nice to see that it is really being billed as a top coat (even the box distinguishes it from the rest of the range), and in the tube, it looks as described. That being said, it also looks a lot more shimmery in the tube than applied–the shimmer is fine but sparse. As a top coat, it only adds shine, but the thinner consistency doesn’t give it a really plump, juicy, glossy finish. I wish there was more visible shimmer when applied, because though it’s supposed to be sheer… it is also supposed to have gold pearl. It’s like a clear polish with large gold flecks that you feel like you have to fish out. Products like these are always so tricky to review (trying to consider a spectrum of clear to sheer is interesting). The shine on this only seemed to last about two hours on me, but it was comfortable to wear, non-sticky, and hydrating. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Rouge Parade looks so good!
A real pity about L’oiseau de Feau I reallyb tried, but I couldn’t see amy of the gold shimmer or gold pearl.
Me neither 🙁 I love me a shimmery gloss, but it was like hide ‘n’ seek!
Rouge Parade looks lovely! So gllllllllllossy 🙂 L’oiseau de feau is just kinda meh though. Not worth the money it seems.
It is pretty!
I might be a couple of days late with this: happy 2nd anniversary to you and Shaun! 🙂
Thank you!
I barely see any sparkles 🙁
Yep 🙁
Do you think the gold flakes would be more apparent over a dark lipstick?
Not really – the thing is… I can’t even see more than few in the swatch, which is pretty zoomed in (much larger in the image than it appears in real life). Even in person (and sometimes with finer shimmer, it can be more apparent as you move the swatch around), it looked mostly like clear gloss 🙁
Wow, this looks so pigmented and glossy! I haven’t tried any Guerlain products at all yet, I’m not sure why. Also, your eyebrows are so on point 😉
Oh, and your skin! Your skin is incredible!
Thank you so much, Joanne!
Just a small correction, it’s “L’Oiseau de Feu”, not Feau – means Firebird. Not very exciting shade with such a name 🙂
Thank you! I appreciate the correction.
The rouge parade looks so gorgeous on you! ! I’m trying to stay clear of lipglosses. I’ve purchased so many and I never find myself actually wearing them but now I want this so bad!
Awww! It is almost more like a lacquer than lipgloss, because it is so rich.
ehhh… I was really in love with the promo images… but meh. I’ll probably pass. Maybe I’ll pick up the palette instead. maybe not, we will see what christine says first! I hope the nail polish top coat is better. those pretty flecks!!
I’ll review the polish soon, but you’ll be going on a fishing expedition.
Uh oh. By fishing expedition, does that mean it’s complicated to get the gold flakes? Will you also review the Dior gold flake nail polish as well? Been debating which one would last longer.
Pretty much. Dior’s is the same kind of fishing game :/
ohh too bad! I was so excited for L’Oiseau de Feau but if it looks more like a top coat, it will be a miss for me 🙁 I feel like Guerlain’s Gold Tchlack (400) will just do it for me!
Yep, designed very specifically as a “top coat!”
Parade is amazing! OMG I’m in love!
It is very nice!
Oh wow, love that red!
It’s gorgeous!
I love the red gloss ..so plush!
It has a good level of shine/finish!
I was just admiring the Rouge Parade lipstick and then I see the lipgloss! It’s so gorgeous on you and it may just be me but it looks a tad pinker than the lipstick. Maybe I’m seeing things! Anyway, it’s a shame about L’Oiseau de Feau not really living up to its expectations. It’s not often that a Guerlain lip product disappoints me but I wasn’t enthralled by their new KissKiss lipstick launch either. I bought one colour and it was just OK. For another brand I would have classed it as good but I know Guerlain can do much better. I suppose I’m just comparing it to my beloved Rouge Gs and I shouldn’t since they are two completely different ranges. I’m not sure what niche the KissKiss lipsticks fill in Guerlain’s wardrobe though if they don’t live up to the standards set by the Rouge Gs and the Rouge Automatiques. Is it just me? Am I missing something?
I don’t know where it fits in either, though I liked it! 🙂
I love me some glittery gloss too but how disappointing that the L’Oiseau de Feu basically looks like glorified vaseline on the lips when it looks so promising in the container. I’ll pass on that one me thinks!
Exactly — as a top coat with *pearl* then that needs to still be present!
L’oiseau de Feau just looks like clear gloss. I see a tiny bit of gold on the swatch, but absolutely none on the lips. How disappointing, especially from this brand.
The red is beautiful, though.
Exactly! In the tube, it looks like a shimmery wonder, but applied? Where did it all go?!
Aww, L’Oiseau de Feu has such a romantic name, and it looks so exciting and luxe in the tube …and then on the lips, it might as well be a plain clear gloss! 😛 It’s nice that they’re honest about the topcoat thing, but, you know…they could’ve chucked in a bit more visible sparkle 😛
Rouge Parade is indeed pretty though 🙂
Right on the money! More sparkle, please.
Thank you so much for posting reviews & swatches of these! I already have Riri woo lipglass, and the lack of glitter in the gold one is disappointing. I will be skipping out on both of these! My wallet thanks you! 🙂
So glad I could help you out, Gee 🙂
Loving 920!
901 however….come on Guerlain, we all know you can do better than that!
Might as well get Gold Tchlack (something like that)!
The top coat seemed like it had a lot of potential – too bad about the sparse-ness of the sparkle/glitter. It could have been spectacular.
Agreed!
Rouge Parade is beautiful! I love pigmented glosses.
Me too! They’re nice to have as a break from lipstick.
Deeeefinitely need Rouge Parade! I might actually like it better than the lipstick, which is saying something.
I really like it!
Loving Rouge Parade but L’oiseau de feu – $30 for what basically looks like Vaseline? No thanks (despite the cool name!)
If it was at least as sparkly as it looked in the tube….
The first one is pretty but I’d expect something even better at that price, something a bit more even looking. :)))
The other one is funny cause it’s just clear gloss with a few glitters in it. At least they’re hydrating, that’s always good.
It’s so sparkly in the tube, so it was a let-down for sure!
Oooo.. ruby slippers! Maybe the gold will show up over the red lipstick, no? As it is meant to be? The other, looks so healthy! 🙂
I tried it – all it does is add a slight shine!
