Guerlain Orange Euphorique (45) Rouge G Lipstick Review, Photos, Swatches
Guerlain Orange Euphorique Rouge G Lipstick
Guerlain Spring 2011: Orange Euphorique
Guerlain Orange Euphorique (45) Rouge G Lipstick ($46.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a muted tangerine orange with a little pinkiness in it, which is probably what keeps it from venturing into neon territory. It has soft, pale gold micro-shimmer and a glossy finish. Not quite opaque but nearly there (you can see a hint of my lip freckle peeking through).
my thoughts on the formula: Long-time readers will know that Guerlain’s Rouge G formula is one of my absolute favorite lipsticks, so I always look forward to new and seasonal shade releases. Rouge G colors have certain nuances to them just seem to make them more flattering when worn. The formula is moisturizing, long-wearing (four to six hours), and comfortable to wear–never heavy but generally opaque in color.
The one thing I noticed about these is though the weight feels the same (we actually whipped out the scale, it was a 0.06 oz. lighter), the magnet enclosure seemed slightly weaker. If you throw ‘em around, the black lacquered case’s lid will fall off easier than the metal one (which also slips off if you put it through the tests we did, haha). I carried one in my purse all day, though, and it was fine.

final thoughts: I know that cooler skin tones find orange lipstick more difficult to wear, as it is such a naturally warm color, but for once, here is an orange that just may suit cooler skin tones even better than warmer ones.

I gotte have this! The best orangey lippie I’ve seen so far! Thanks Kristin!
Omg Christine thank you so much for reviewing this! I have been looking for a wearable orangey lipstick and I am so going to buy this!! It’s gorgeous!!
That’s really flattering! Looks gorgeous on you Christine… 🙂
Absolutely gorgeous! Love that gold shimmer! But I think it would be too cool and pastel-y for me, mybe I’ll pick one up for a friend who wants to try more orange lipsticks.
orange lips: trends I hope do not last long… an 80s fad I thought safely over with the jelly bracelets, splatterpaint shirts, sheena easton & all that. definitely looks better on than in the tube but still not liking this one even on you! & you can pretty much make anything look good. sorry christine!
Do you think it’s similar to Rimmel’s “Crush”? Except maybe a little glossier 🙂
I don’t have Crush!
That’s pretty unique. Unfortunately, I’m not a fan of the Rouge G formula, so I’m not sure how this would work out for me.
That is gorgeous, and so are you
That looks AMAZING!!!!!!
wow, this color is beautiful! i hope i can find a MAC dupe as i’m sooooo not willing to dish out $46 for a lipstick.
this looks like it’d be nice with hourglass nectar extreme sheen gloss! i hope we get to see that combo on you my dear!
Wow this is so pretty!
I immediately discounted this as I am very fair and cool toned but this is gorgeous! yum!
Amazing color but I’m not paying over $40 for a lipstick.
Wow… I’d sworn off Rouge G, since they’re so expensive, but this one is so pretty… I wore Rouge Sensuel (bought on your rec) for a photo on my blog and I’ve had about six people ask me where they can get it, so I guess these lipsticks are just all around winners.
Aha! Seeee! I do love me a Rouge G. I don’t think there’s a single shade that made me go, “EW!”
wow look at the packaging! Haha people will definetely look when you take that out of your purse!
I love the color orange and coral, unfortunately I have cool undertones so they dont always love me lol Happy to hear it is possible for it to be flattering, not crazy bout the pricetag though.
outstanding! this lipstick suits you so well
I NEED this & I havent really wanted or been impressed with any new makeup…….. But I NEEEEED this !
So pretty! If it wasn’t so expensive, I’d be all over it!
I swatched it at Sephora the other day and I found it really too sheer. Too bad cause I’m looking for a soft orange lipstick, I might go for Chanel Rouge Coco in Sari Doré.
Wow a lipstick shade I would love to wear, too bad the price range is a it more than I’m willing to pay for a lippie. Thanks though, looks magnificent!
Wow! Really gorgeous! Those swatches may actually convince me to try my first orange lipstick!!
I just bought this the other day, and though when I was paying for it I though I was going to have a heart attack, I’m so glad i purchased it! The color is fabulous, I love orange and peachy shades, and even though I have very fair skin, this one compliments me a lot! It also is my first Rouge G, and I’m in love, so smooth, moisturizing, long lasting… but I did notice what you said about the packaging, the case lid slips very easily, but it’s good to know that they’re not usually like that! 🙂
Is it similar to Cle de Peau’s Extra Silky Lipstick in #101? I tried comparing the swatches but since the camera settings are different it’s a bit harder to do so. ^^; (Am I the only one who likes the older camera settings better? XD; )
Thank you. ^___^
Not quite as dark! 🙂
That is a very pretty orange! Too bad it’s a Guerlain lipstick, though.
Wow, that’s a really wearable orange!!
I am usually a nude lipstick girl but this is gorgeous!!
It looks a lot prettier on your lips than in the tube
So pretty! I wish that I could justify spending this much on a lipstick but I can’t. 🙁
It’s beautiful for an orange colour, but way too expensive! Lipsticks finish so fast!
It looks nice but i won’t spend that much on a lipstick and besides mac’s neon orange lipstick is my favorite orange lipstick so far.
When I wear MAC Cut A Caper, it looks just like this cuz I have pigmented pinky lips, but no gold shimmer. I hope MAC does something like this soon. This is gorgeous.
Whoa! I think this deserves at least an A-. I’m actually contemplating buying this expensive azz lipstick, lol!
The packaging is straight outta this world but $46!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
I NEED THIS!!!!!!! Thanks for the post!
Looks fantastic on you! And I’m still lovin’ your lip photos! They’re the best!
This is so gorgeous!
I bought this one & the Rouge Sensuel looooooooooove them both so much. I’m a huge fan of Guerlain lippies anyway.
Gosh I was kinda indifferent when reading the title because I don’t even have any orange l/s, but this is so beautiful.
I should say this in a more unusual l/s post, like black/blue/purple, but my 14yr old sister has been reading Temptalia with me for many times, and she keeps saying “why does every l/s color looks so good on her .__.”
Hi Christine,
Is this a bit similar to Guerlain’s Rouge G Gil?
I’d say Gil is darker and more orange!
it is so beautiful!!! best orange ever…
Wow, gorgeous… Guerlain Rouge G’s area really one of the best lipsticks out there.
Oh I agree, I bet this would look amazing on a blonde, cool skin toned girl! I can totally invision it. 🙂
I would have been the first one in line this morning to buy this shade if it wasnt for the extremly heavty price tag 🙁 i’ve been looking for a color like this! ::Sad::
Loved it until I saw the price tag. Wowza.
I love this! Just might have to break down and buy another Rouge G. I bought Sensual and I love it!! Thanks for your reviews 🙂
wow its so nice!!!! but $46 on a lipstck im not to sure about that. Is there any dupes in mind?
Dear lord, I’ve never spent more than $20 on a lipstick, but this is the most gorgeous shade! I might just be shelling out the $46 for it and eschewing other make-up purchases for the rest of the month!
Love the color… How about something more affordable please.
I do not have any dupes at this time – sorry!
Agghhh! I want, but not for almost $50… D:
I need this, omg. So glowy and beautiful (it looks amazing on you, too!) The case looks kinda like a coffin, though!
wow…. I have NEVER seen an orange lipstick I would be caught dead in, but this is fantastic! I’m super duper cool/fair and I think even I could pull this off!
Gorgeous color!! All of the lipstick colors look so good on you, I’m surprised one of the cosmetics companies hasn’t signed you as a model.
Haha!
this lipstick is gorgeous on you! I want one for myself now, but it’s so expensive 🙁
Reminds me of MAC’s Fresh Salmon l/s
Just beautiful. I totally love it and I just know it will suit my cooler skintone.
When it lands here, I will get it!
I seldom leave a msg here though I have been reading it like bible everyday. This i just a beautiful shade, after reading your comment ytd, I went to Guerlain after today only to find that this shade has been sold out. I tried it on and it’s the best formula so far (even better than Chanel Rough Coco) , it just melt perfectly with your lips! I had a creamy white skin with slight olive tone, this looks wonderful alone (I just had my lasik and can’t wear eye makeup)! I have ordered it, the saleslady said it will be available next week
Thank you so much for sharing, Alexa! YAY!
Gues what… I live in Barcelona, and I bought it yesterday in Sephora for 37€. I have fair skin, but this lipstick is very wearable, pair with soft brown smooky eyes. I LOVE IT. Thanks Christine for your reviews on new products. By the way, what do you think about the new liquid foundation from Shiseido? the one wiht black packaging.
Haven’t tried it!
Stunning! I think Christine is right, it may be one of the few orange lipsticks to suit cooler skin tones. Too bad it’s so expensive – I may spring for it anyway!
I bought it and I’m so happy with it! IMHO it is the most beautiful and wearable shade of orange on the market!
When I saw your lip swatch, I knew I had to own this lippie! It’s beyond gorgeous!!! I really like the fact that it’s semi-opaque so it looks very natural and flattering at the same time. I have looked for a good orangy coral lipstick for so long and finally found this. xoxo Christine! Well, it’s pricey but for me it’s worth it. Now I’m afraid I might be into Guerlain, which is as dangerous as being a huge fan of Dior.
Yay!!!
Oh, why do Guerlain lipsticks have to be so gorgeous? Same with Cle de Peau. =(
