Guerlain Gourmandise Rouge G L’Extrait Review, Photos, Swatches

Guerlain Gourmandise Rouge G L’Extrait

Guerlain Gourmandise Rouge G L’Extrait

Guerlain Gourmandise Rouge G L’Extrait ($48.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is described as “raspberry for gluttony.” It’s a vibrant pink-coral with strong red undertones. Super bright–oh-so-intense. MAC Force of Love is pinker. MAC Watch Me Simmer is lighter, less red. MAC Fusion Pink is a bit darker and has pink iridescent shimmer. Wet ‘n’ Wild Hot Paris Pink is a bit lighter, less opaque. Make Up For Ever #37 is similar but slightly more coral. Chanel Phoenix is lighter. MAC Impassioned is pinker. MAC Party Parrot is a smidgen pinker. MAC Gesina is redder.

My goodness, this is a neon lip color!  If you are all about the bright lip this summer, you’ll definitely want to take a peek at this new shade once it rolls out on counters this August.  It might be part of a fall launch, but this just screams summer fun.  It’s opaque in one swipe of the product, and you really only need one pull of gloss to get full color coverage.  It has a mostly matte finish but there is a natural sheen to it so it doesn’t look dry or flat.

I had less color transfer with Gourmandise than I did with Luxure, though there was still some.  This shade wore eight hours on me and lasted well through both a meal and coffee.  It wears and wears and wears, and my lips still felt hydrated after I removed it.  Despite the creamier consistency and richness in color, I didn’t experience any feathering or bleeding while wearing Gourmandise.

The formula of the Rouge G L’Extrait has more of a matte finish and a creamier consistency compared to Chanel’s Rouge Allure Laque formula, while Chanel’s feels a bit slick on, though Guerlain’s seems marginally thicker.  Korres’ Liquid Lipsticks are glossier (more gloss-like than lipstick-like), and NYX’s Soft Matte Lip Creams are thicker and heavier.  Bare Minerals’ Pretty Amazing Lipcolors have a more water-like consistency.

I don’t really love the yellow tones of this but that’s because they clash somewhat with my undertones! Loving these reviews though – thank you Christine.

This looks like a nice formula, and considering the packaging I MIGHT be swayed to splurge on one as a special treat, but I haven’t seen the right color yet.  It would really have to be the perfect color at this price point.

this is BEAUTIFUL. I wish i could give myself a good excuse to buy this, but i just don’t have many occasions that call for a lip color like that 🙁 it would be a crime to purchase this and just leave it sitting on my dresser. it’s so pretty!

this is kinda OT, but i know someone who is getting married and as a gift to her bridesmaids she is getting some Rouge G’s engraved for them! thought that was a cute idea.

I don’t like the texture and goopy creaminess of the Rouge G line. It just feels weird on my lips. Gooey, thick and slippery. Plus, they really don’t last long on me. With all the coffee or soda that I drink nonstop throughout the day, I like things that stay on like *glue.*  Seeing massive transfer of a very expensive item just irritates me. So, all that combined with the very high price= not my cup of tea. Just an FYI, you have $59 listed as the cost in the box section of the review.

I love it, but I have both Fusion Pink and Gesina (and love them too!), so I think it might be a while before I can justify a $60 replacement. Glad they’re permanent, though, because I know I’m going to want to try them out eventually…

woooww this looks really great.. will this be good on pigmented lips, Christine? im NW40-43 fyi.. and also debatin between this and impassioned even though they r little diff..what u think ?

Ah, I see you’re testing/wearing the new ETK…I’m so anxious to see how you rate them. This time around I’m highly tempted to get one from the fall collection though I’ve never been tempted to get one before. Can’t wait for that review!

Holy guacamole, this is beautiful! but….$48??? I know it’s supposed to be the best of teh best, and the packaging is so pretty, and it’s a wonderful product, but…. $48? (well, i’m going to get a lottery ticket, you never know…)

I believe these are refillable, so you could technically just buy the refill and save some money by not getting the packaging (which is pretty to look at, kind of a pain to store, and fairly heavy – trust me, you don’t want to have three or four Rouge Gs in your bag!).

@Christine (Temptalia) all my rouge g’s are stored in their original boxes in a box and I take them out and add to my small makeup bag as needed.. never carry more than one at a time!  That’s just wrong and considered a serious security threat.

I love this shade! I think it’s one of my faves. The finish is pretty and the packaging is so classy. I suppose they are like the Rouge G’s a bit, heavy and kinda impractical? lol It will not stop me from buying it tho!

Holy crap this is farging BEAUTIFUL and one of the colour I isolated as a definite WANT.  Now the want is capitalized and in bold font..  Can’t WAIT for Guerlain fall collection to be released.  I keep checking Nordies and Saks every day.

Loving the formula, not loving the color – I’m trying brighter lips these days but that’s a *bit* too bright for me. Okay, a lot too bright for me. So far I’m 0 for 2 as far as these are concerned, but maybe one of the others will suit me? I hope?

This shade is right up my alley… And looks lovely applied and on you… Seriously considering… Although I have a lot of the colors you mentioned that are close …And I probably have the color somewhere, cause I been buying a lot of this color… So I might pass cause of the price, but if I should run into a money tree, this will be up for consideration.

Like I hadn’t already resigned myself to splurging on one of their Rouge G lip shades, now they have to go and add a whole new set of lip shades in my favorite finish.  My checking account cries out in agony and sorrow.
Anyhow, this is gorgeous.  Great, vivid shade for you!

@Niinyy 🙂 oouais! si c’est pour en avoir un seul ça va! (ouais ça c’est bien! N’EST-CE PAS MAC.). Il a un aspect plus “lipstick liquide” ^^

@Joanna you’d think they would be, but there aren’t any refills currently for this or the Rouge G lipsticks. We keep hoping, though! AFAIK the only refillable product in this packaging is the Noir G mascara.

I came back to check out this review again and yes, this colour is so very exciting to me!!  Looks amazing on you, Christine and I do think this will be a fav.  I can picture this lip colour giving a nice hot hit of colour with the dark berry coloured fall fashions.

Hi! Great review as always. 🙂 I’m looking for a good matte pink lipstick and I was wondering how this color compares to Chanel’s rouge allure velvet in l’exuberante. Thanks! 🙂
