Guerlain Gold Tchlack (400) Gloss d’Enfer Maxi Shine ($30.00 for 0.25 fl. oz.) is a pale gold with champagne and gold sparkle. L’Oreal Something Shiny is very similar. MAC Satin Slip has more peach-colored shimmer. Bobbi Brown Canary is a darker gold (more orange, less champagne) and much higher in shimmer content.

The base is virtually colorless (there is a yellowish tinge, but it’s hard to see it, especially once applied to lips) and then a moderate amount of sparkle and shimmer. This shade felt like it had more sparkle with less shimmer, so as the gloss wore away, I could feel a few of the sparkles. It has a thin, non-sticky consistency feels incredibly lightweight on, so it’s comfortable wear and doesn’t slide around. This shade lasted just over two hours on me, which is shorter on wear than I expected and as compared to other shades I’ve tried in the range.

I don’t expect this one to turn heads; anyone who really loves the formula or who has longed for a sheer/clear gloss with some shimmer but not all shimmer may want to consider this, but if you’re thinking about splurging on one or two shades from the range, I’d recommend one of the more unique shades in the range.

I definitely see what you’re saying about this product. It’s so lovely in the tube and it is pretty, but at this price point, I feel like I could find something else that would work and be less expensive.

I just recently bought bb canary and really like it. I feel like they could have made this a little more “special.” It just looks like any other gold gloss from the drugstore.

Yeah, Canary is a gold gloss on steroids, which is why I think it’s so cool even if there’s no real “color” to the base – there’s so much prominent gold shimmer that it’s like KAPOW! But of course, it is super shimmery which isn’t to everyone’s tastes!

I think this is one of the best glosses of its kind that I’ve tried and I’m not a fan of clear glosses with gold sparkle or shimmer. It is very sparkly, like sunlight on clear water so I bought it. lol I like it both alone and for layering.

This is perfect!!! I thought BB’s Canary was a bit tacky on me and the orange clashed with my light skin, so this is milestones ahead of BB’s Canary, which appears gritty on the lips.

This offers a delicate alternative to the more extravagant gold glosses I own. If you equate pigmentation with quality then BB’s is clearly superior, but the formula of Guerlain’s glosses is pristine. I’m sure the over all look could be duped by a cheaper product, but I find that true of any eye and lip product.

Seriously, if this one was opaque, I would be so in love with it. But as it is, it´s just clear gloss with sparkle, if it has a color, it doesn´t really show up anyway. So I guess it would be a pass for me.

I think that for what it is, I really like it. I have a couple sheer sparkly glosses but mine have a pink tint; I don’t know as I have an actual clear sparkly gloss. I may pick this up just to have one.
