Guerlain Geraldine (77) & Geneva (48) Rouge G Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Guerlain Geraldine (77) Rouge G Lipstick
Guerlain Geraldine (77) Rouge G Lipstick

Guerlain Geraldine (77) Rouge G Lipstick ($51.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “luminous pink.” It’s a brightened, medium pink with cool, bluish undertones and a glossy shine. It had mostly opaque color coverage, and the color applied evenly and made lips smoother and plumper than they actually were (which is where Rouge Gs shine). The color wore well for five and a half hours, and it was nicely hydrating while worn. This is a new and permanent shade now available from the brand. Estee Lauder Infamous (P, $30.00) is brighter, less glossy. MAC Bold Spring (P, $22.00) is slightly more fuchsia. YSL Fuchsia Tourbillon (31) (P, $34.00) is darker. L’Oreal Pink Flamingo (180) (P, $8.95) is less glossy. NARS Goodbye Emmanuelle (LE, $26.00) is lighter. MAC Playtime (LE, $17.00) is purpler. NYX Pink Lyric (P, $4.00) is darker, more muted. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Guerlain Geneva (48) Rouge G Lipstick ($51.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “blood orange.” It’s a coral-orange with warm undertones and a slightly muted quality to it; the color is still vibrant, but it’s not neon. The finish is glossy and luminous, which makes lips look healthier than they do bare. It had rich, opaque color coverage that applied evenly and smoothly. It wore well for almost six hours, and it was extremely hydrating while worn and after it wore away. This is a new and permanent shade now available from the brand. Dior Sunset (660) (LE, $34.00) is more shimmery, slightly lighter. Estee Lauder Defiant Coral (P, $30.00) is a bit brighter. Bite Beauty Crush (P, $28.00) is lighter. Marc Jacobs Beauty Shout (138) (LE, $30.00) is less glossy, pinker. Givenchy Rose Dentelle (203) (P, $36.00) is similar. Too Faced Coral Fire (P, $21.00) is lighter, more matte. MAC Lady at Play (P, $22.00) is slightly darker, less glossy. MAC Hibiscus (LE, $16.00) is more shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Oh, Guerlain, Why must you always tempt me so? Looks like Geneva 48 will be my summer coral of choice. GET ON MY LIPS. These both look lovely on you, by the way.

Oh, I might have to check out Geneva!

Though I was planning to get Rose Dentelle, which is cheaper and I do prefer a more satin finish…

Absolutely stunning colors! I love Rouge G (Like you, Gems is one of my utter favorites!).

I thought I’d mention that Neimanmarcus.com is currently running an engraving special on their Rouge Gs until 5/7/14. I’m currently trying to decide which colors I want engraved… maybe it’ll be one of these!

Decisions, decisions! Geneva or Defiant Coral?? My birthday is in a week and a half and I hope to get some gift cards so I can buy either one. Perfect color, perfect lipsticks.

I mean… Defiant Coral is a great shade and has a lovely formula – plus, you know, cheaper. I love Rouge Gs, but if I couldn’t have too many (I collect all of them, like the fiend I am), I would try to go for the ones less easily duped by other brands (with equally lovely formulas) OR go for a shade I’d wear all the time (that I would use up).

Hmm… You know, I haven’t looked recently (mostly out of fear, LOL) but really it’s probably not worse than $60 or $70. Noting seems quite as bad after I found out that By Terry lipglosses are $94 EACH. 😛

Chanel are $60 and YSL are $65 each, so I think these should be in that ballpark? I hope?

Geneva is quite pretty, but I was hoping for a little more color punch when I saw the description. It’s still a great shade for the permanent range!

Just when I thought I was done throwing my money at Guerlain and their amazing lipsticks they bring out new shades! My bank account has suffered enough but these look gorgeous. To buy or not to buy…dilemma! I need more lipsticks like I need a hole in my head. I finally have to admit to myself that I am a lipstick addict. Anyone know of a good support group? 😛

Geneva is my eldest sisters name and I love it! But hate to pay $51.00 for a lipstick! Especially since I have way more than I’ll ever use. I did try on Estee Lauders Defiant Coral in store but didn’t like it enough to buy. I’ll probably check this one out in person.Looks very pretty on you.

Oooooh, Geneva is GORGEOUS! I can’t even think the last time Gerlain got a coral shade in the Rouge G range, I know they have a couple in the Rouge Automatique range (Nahema and Fleur de Feu), and as much as I love those, it’s a bit weird for them not to capitalize that market, considering how popular coral is.

Kate Avatar

Have these been released? I checked Guerlain and Neiman’s yesterday and they weren’t listed. I definitely don’t need Geneva but I NEED it.

Kylee Avatar

I need Geraldine. I neeeeeeed it. It’s been so long since I’ve picked up a Rouge G, but they are my favorite favorite favorite (those and Tom Ford are it for me). Every once in a while I need everything ever from Guerlain, and I was lucky enough to snag a Meteorites Pearls sample from Sephora yesterday (finally trying it out!), so the flood gates have opened!

Kylee Avatar

I’ve been on the very last bits of my mascara for a while and had been waffling around about when to get a new one, and I got that email and was like…yep, now is the time for that mascara. I’ve been wanting to try Meteorites for ages now but had never gotten around to them so this was perfect!
