Guerlain Exotic Orchid (214) Eyeshadow Quad Review & Swatches
Exotic Orchid (214)
Guerlain Exotic Orchid (214) Ombres G Quad Eyeshadow Palette ($85.00 for 0.2 oz.) includes four shimmery eyeshadows that ranged from softer, more pearl-like shimmer to brighter, more sparkly and metallic finishes. Three of the four shades were very pigmented, while one was sheerer, but they were all blendable, sat well on bare skin, and lasted around eight hours on me before showing signs of wear.

Formula Overview
-
The formula is supposed to have "intense pigments for long-lasting color" across four finishes: "intense satin," "deep matte," luminous metallic," and "radiant pearl." The majority of the shades were quite pigmented applied dry, but it seemed, by texture and look of the pan, to be a wet/dry formula to me, so I tried them damp as well. I didn't feel like using them dampened was necessary except for a few of the "radiant pearl" finish shades, which had more shimmer/sparkle.
The "deep matte" finish tended to have a firmer and more cream-like feel, so using a denser brush to pick up to apply and diffuse color was best, while the other finishes were more moderately-dense--firm but not stiff--and blended out well as they "melted" on my skin. The eyeshadows lasted around eight hours on me before showing signs of fading with a few getting closer to nine hours of wear.

Oh man! These are so very much my type of eyeshadow colors for late summer (AKA RN!) into early winter or really any old time. This is one that would get used on a regular basis. But then I look at the $’s… 🤔
I’m so torn between this one and Metal Butterfly- the only thing that turns me off from this quad is the more deep red tone. The other colors are stunning.
Again it is so good to see Guerlain back to its A game and this colourful quad is excellent, even though it is too reddish for my preferences. I thought that the shades are well co-ordinated and would look lovely for a autumn eye look.
This reminds me so much of a Holiday quad that Guerlain did some years back, which I still own. Everyone raved about it, and the colours are so similar. Liu was the name, and I remember people asking for it to be brought back. I am so tempted by this quad.
Sephora Canada doesn’t seem to have either of these quads (nor do they have any Guerlain powder shadows, palette or quads) and what’s even more surprising is that The Bay (at least online) doesn’t seem to have them either…. Good thing I’m not enamoured of either of these but still…
