Guerlain #007 & #25 Sheer Shine Rouge G Lip Colors Reviews & Swatches
#007
Guerlain #007 Sheer Shine Rouge G Lip Color ($33.00 for 0.09 oz.) is a soft, lighter coral with moderate, warm undertones and a natural sheen with barely-there pearl. It had semi-sheer to medium coverage in a single layer, which applied evenly across my lips and never tugged during application.
The consistency was lightweight, thin, and there was a smidgen of product that sank into my deeper lip lines but not enough to be visible in person, just in the close-up. I didn’t feel like the formula was as smoothing or as visually “plumping” of my lips compared to the original Rouge G formula. It stayed on well for three hours and was lightly hydrating over time.

The formula is supposed to have a "sheer shine" finish; so it has a "luminous effect" on the lips with "6 hours of hydration" paired with "sheer" coverage. They had more medium to semi-opaque coverage, nowhere near "sheer" or a "veil" as the brand described; the coverage really didn't feel like a massive departure from the original Rouge G range (which is classified as "satin").
They had a smooth, lightweight, and thinner consistency that glided easily across my lips and was comfortable to apply and to wear. The majority of the range applied evenly without emphasizing my lip lines, but I did not find that the formula was as successful as smoothing out my lip texture and lip lines as the original range has been.
I think the satin Rouge Gs actually have greater shine--they're glossier and richer in look--compared to the sheer shine finish, which just seems to be less emollient and slightly less pigmented. The sheer shine finish has a bit more pearl, on average, compared to the satin Rouge Gs.
The wear time ranged from three to five hours but was shorter-wearing, which I find common to thinner, sheerer formulas like this one, so it was on par for formulas of this type. It was lightly hydrating but not as nourishing as I'd expect based on claims as well as past experience with Guerlain's lip products. There was a subtle, sweet, floral and vanilla scent but no discernible taste.
Keep in mind that Guerlain's Rouge Gs are sold as refills that can be put into a separate case. The refill has a small, plastic cap, which is serviceable but likely not going to be durable enough for someone who takes their lipstick on-the-go or for traveling--more suitable for sitting in a drawer at home.

#25
Guerlain #25 Sheer Shine Rouge G Lip Color ($33.00 for 0.09 oz.) is a medium red with subtle, cool undertones and a natural sheen with faint micro-shimmer throughout. It had semi-sheer to medium color payoff in a single stroke, which didn’t build up much beyond that (though it wasn’t described as buildable, so that wasn’t a con!).
The consistency felt smooth, lightweight, and thin as it didn’t seem to smooth out my lip lines at all, but it wasn’t prone to emphasizing imperfections. The color applied evenly and lasted well for four and a half hours, while the formula felt lightly moisturizing while worn.

I’m feeling very let down by #25 because Guerlain always does phenomenal reds. And this one just isn’t. Oh well, it’s not as if I don’t have a ton of reds here, as it is!
I would love to be able to tell somebody that my lipstick shade is #007, because it just sounds really cool. but I’m having the same feeling about it as I do over #25; just ‘meh’.
Both of these don’t really appeal to me as they are far too pinky for my liking. #25 is a lovely pink based red though.
Love these!
