Givenchy Inattendue Prisme Quatuor Review, Photos, Swatches
Givenchy Inattendue Prisme Quatuour / Eyeshadow Quad
Givenchy Inattendue Prisme Quatuour / Eyeshadow Quad ($58.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a sparkling mix of shades with warmer undertones. This was the more pigmented of the three quads I bought from the range, but it wasn’t worth the price tag due to lower color payoff, fall out, and generally uneven color application. It was more frustrating to use than anything else. I give Givenchy credit for coming up with a more interesting color combination that you don’t often see in a set of four shades (though it is harder to combine as a result). I think you’d need to use a glitter adhesive and possibly sponge-tip/fingertips for applicators to manage this one.
Inattendue #1 is a medium, golden brown with warm, yellow undertones and a golden bronze sparkle. It had the least sparkly finish of the four shades, and it was the easiest to work with, as it applied with better color coverage and went on evenly. It had a small amount of fall out but creased after seven hours of wear. YSL Aquatic Copper (07) (P, $30.00) is lighter. Charlotte Tilbury The Dolce Vita #4 (P, ) is less shimmery, darker. ColourPop On the Rocks (P, $5.00) is less shimmery. ColourPop Deluxe (P, $5.00) is less shimmery. Anastasia Gilded (LE, $12.00) is less shimmery, lighter. Make Up For Ever I634 Praline (P, $21.00) is less shimmery. Chanel Tisse Vendome #1 (P, ) is less shimmery, lighter. Anastasia Truffle (LE, $12.00) is less shimmery, darker. Le Metier de Beaute Axiom (LE, $30.00) is less shimmery. MAC Mulch (P, $16.00) is less shimmery. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Inattendue #2 is a medium-dark black with silver glitter. It had a drier texture that was prone to applying unevenly, and the color payoff was weak. There was so much fall out during wear, as well as some when initially applied, that by the end of six hours, it had creased and turned into more of a satin finish eyeshadow! Make Up For Ever D104 Black Diamond (P, $21.00) is less shimmery, darker. Marc Jacobs Beauty Blacklight (306) (LE, $32.00) is less shimmery. Urban Decay Moonspoon (P, $20.00) is more shimmery, lighter. MAC Bao Bao’s Jewels #5 (LE, ) is more shimmery, lighter. Urban Decay Scorpio (P, $20.00) is less shimmery, darker. ColourPop Friskie (P, $5.00) is less shimmery, darker. Guerlain Cygne Noir #1 (LE, ) is less shimmery, darker. ColourPop Raven (LE, $5.00) is less shimmery, darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Inattendue #3 is a sparkling, medium pink with warm, yellow undertones and pink and white glitter. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a drier consistency where the sparkle often came loose. There was a lot of fall out during application as well as during wear, and the base color was quick to crease (six hours). Sephora Collection Star-Crossed Lovers (103) (P, $13.00) is less shimmery, lighter. Make Up For Ever D862 Fairly Pink (P, $21.00) is less shimmery. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Inattendue #4 is a muted, blackened plum with warm, brown undertones and lighter silver and plum sparkle and glitter that gives it a very high-shine finish. It had good color payoff with a gritty, glittery texture where the glitter adhered initially but easily dislodged from the base color as soon as you went to blend it out at all. The color lasted for seven hours but had a lot of fall out over time. Chanel Diapason (92) (P, $36.00) is less shimmery, warmer. MAC Modern Majesty (LE, $19.50) is less shimmery, darker, warmer. Uh no thanks, Givenchy. $ 58 for 4 shadows that have so much fall-out, I’ll probably look like a disco ball by the time I’m done applying. It’s too bad, because the colors are pretty for a dramatic eye
It was SOOO annoying to use + wear.
I think #2 and #4 look nice as potential layering shades (over a similar colour or black). Nowhere near nice enough to justify the price though… And I agree with you that it’s nice to see a brand get more adventurous with colour combos, but I really don’t see myself grabbing for this pallete if I’d have it in my stash.
Maybe they should have released singles for this formula — then it would have made more sense to layer (you could just get one!).
Awww, bummer, the color combo looked very promising!
Right? So sad!
Too bad the performance is underwhelming, because the colours are so pretty!
Agreed!
It’s a shame it got this kind of rating because those colours together are quite stunning!
It is a pretty concept!
Gosh I understand why there are getting so bad ratings. I don’t have Givenchy counter close by but I swatched a few during my vacation. I was like no way I will ever spend my hard earned $$ here. They also look like they might fall out, which you also mentioned.
lol! They’re really, really disappointing.
The colors look pretty in the swatches…too bad they didn’t perform better!
Agreed!
Beautiful idea, poor execution. The sparkly colors are so pretty, but they need a base that will hold the color and the glitter. It looks sorely in need of glitter glue primer, but I wouldn’t want to have to do that for a $58 quad.
I can’t get over how expensive this is and how poorly it performed.
I love glitter as much as the next girl but this is too much. Especially since it’s sheer and there’s a lot of fallout. Nice colors but not worth the price it seems
Fall out always sucks!
Yes it is an interesting range of colours – but that pink is alienating I think because it is not a shade that all could/would use. Besides the price and the quality makes it a no-no for me.
Lots of reasons to skip this one!
What up with HE label quads and such? They are expensive to own and typically suck. There are exceptions, but that is what is ridiculous, that the quality palette is the exception.
Some of them need to just CALL IT and say sheer, buildable eyeshadows or whatever they are.
I wonder if they make a single of the #4 shade…
I don’t think they have singles, but I could be mistaken!
#4 though! Can’t get over how great it looks on the tear duct/inner eye
It is pretty!
You’ve managed to make this look SO pretty in spite of it not being very good! #4 looks so much like one of the shadows in the KIKO quad I got in Italy (but it was a whole lot less than $58 (or almost $70 here in Canada – what a rip off!)
Thank you, Mariella! 🙂
I don’t have much luck with these. For some reason, I just can’t get the pigment I want! I do have some LE ones from the past, and I do like them! The formula still could have been better, though, in my personal experience.
The formula is pretty terrible from the three I tried!
Whatever they did to reformulate the eyeshadows, they need to put it back!
I don’t even remember the older ones, but I’m guessing I wouldn’t have been a huge fan, lol, because Givenchy has been a miss for years for me 🙁 Le Rouge gave me hope!
