Fyrinnae Sexy Nerd Lip Lustre
Fyrinnae Sexy Nerd Lip Lustre

Fyrinnae Sexy Nerd Lip Lustre ($7.00 for 0.27 fl. oz.) is described as a “bright magenta with gold shimmer and highlight.” It’s a vibrant, medium-dark fuchsia pink with gold shimmer. The layer of gold shimmer seems to be a more defining characteristic of this shade, as it made it harder to dupe. Kat Von D Lullabye (P, $21.00) is more matte, no gold shimmer. Revlon Adorned (P, $7.49) is a gloss, redder, less shimmery. MAC Pink Poodle (DC, $16.00) is lighter, brighter, cooler-toned. MAC Midnight Mambo (LE, $22.00) is cooler-toned. Milani Flashy (DC, $6.49) is less golden. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Yaoi (P, $18.00) is lighter, brighter, lacks the gold shimmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Lip Lustres are supposed to be “non-sticky lipcolour, nearly as solid as lipstick, leaving rich colour on your lips but no goopy tackiness.” It had intense color payoff that yielded full color coverage. The color went on evenly and smoothly for a forgiving finish that was lightly shiny but not glossy (indeed, more like a liquid lipstick). The consistency is more liquid-like, but it isn’t runny as it has a denser, drier texture that is more comfortable applied than it seems initially, but it isn’t drying (nor hydrating). It also non-sticky as described. On me, the color lasted for five and a half hours before fading, and it left behind a slight stain. There was no discernible taste or smell.

Just some closer friends and stories, but it’s nothing I have experienced first hand – it’s just enough to make me wary of doing anything at this time. I have a pretty horrendous track record with indies (even after waiting awhile) that seem great and everything’s fine for awhile, but a few months after I buy, there seems to be drama (it has happened five out of seven times, lol).

Oh lawd. Yeah I think indie makeup companies can be very volatile sometimes since they deal directly with consumers? I hope your hit/miss ratio with indie companies gets better haha

Would you mind sharing why? I understand if you’re not able to but I’ve been considering one of their palettes and I do really trust your input. Wondering if there’s an issue with the quality of the product or company that I should be looking out for, thanks Christine!

I haven’t experienced anything personally, but I have heard some stories from friends, and it’s just made me a little wary. I have some REALLY bad luck with what indies I’ve bought from, so I’m a lot more careful these days and usually wait a long, long time before investing.

I can understand your hesitation. Me, I get wary about a brand when I only ever hear about their products from the popular Instagrammers they send their products to, partly because almost no one on IG properly discloses their relationship with the brand and partly because there’s usually no actual review, just them advertising the product by wearing it! It just gives me bad vibes. 🙁

Looks beautiful, I like how noticeable the gold sheen is in the far away shot.
I’ve heard a lot of good things about this brand, the people who have tried them seem to love them a lot. Maybe its about time I tried them, too!

They’re worth trying, but it can be frustrating to catch their site when they’re active and/or handle the wait (though I’ve always received my order within 7-14 days).

This is pretty! I love Fyrinnae. Went absolutely insane last summer when u were reviewing their eyeshadows. I hope the are to get more staff to handle their orders bc they’re amazing and should be open all the time lol.

I really like lippies like this. As I get older, I’m gravitating more towards lipsticks or lipsticks with more color than shine. This seems like what I’m looking for. Where can I purchase?

Ooh, this is pretty! 😀 I like how even and opaque it is, while still retaining definite sparkle.

*adds to ridiculously long list of stuff she wants to get from Fyrinnae*

This is so pretty! I definitely don’t have anything like it, and at $7 how can I not put it on my wish list?! Thanks for reviewing this, Christine!

Very pretty! I think this color would make a great stocking-stuffer for my oldest daughter. I’ll have to visit the site to pick this up, along with more Pixie Epoxy. And… maybe check for new eyeshadow colors… because you can never have too much eyeshadow, right?? 😀

By the way, I stumbled upon your YouTube videos last night while looking for swatches and, even though I liked you before, I like you even more after watching the video! You’re professional yet friendly with a relaxed vibe, you enunciate well, your voice is quite pleasant to listen to, and you look great on camera!

That’s so coincidental! I just was bookmarking some you tube sites + watched a very young Christine, as well. She is an excellent presenter; you’re right! Being an SLP who did undergrad in Cal, I think I was expecting more of ‘that Cal sound.’ What surprised me, is that it’s Temptahlia, rather than Temptaylia. I stand corrected!

One of our default is Amazon since you can basically find almost anything there (even if it’s long discontinued), but some brands might not be there!

One of THE MOST gorgeous colours/glosses Ive seen in a long time!!Exciting. I know they used to have a note on their site saying it can take a number of weeks to ship the item out etc…which always kept me from ordering from them. I wonder whether thats changed now!

They say that just in case. I’ve been ordering from them for about five years now and it has never gone over 3-4 days for me to have mine shipped. And usually less!

What a beautiful color/finish! I don’t wear bright colors as much anymore, but this is so pretty and at a great price. I will have to check it out once their site is back up 🙂

Pretty! Wonder if they will keep it in stock? Every time I check Fryriannae website they seem to be out of the all the products I want to buy. Since this is a winner for $7.00 probably going to sell well.

I feel like I’m cursed, because I will check to make sure their site is open before I write one, and then the next day it’s closed, lol!

They don’t last very long on me. They tend to dry out and leave a line on my inner bottom lip. But, I do still love a number of them. I just try to stay conscious of it and do mirror checks, reapply. I still really like them.
