Fyrinnae Parental Advisory Eyeshadow Review, Photos, Swatches

Fyrinnae Parental Advisory Eyeshadow
Fyrinnae Parental Advisory Eyeshadow

Edited: Fyrinnae discontinued Parental Advisory (Loose) in 2011 and reformulated it in 2012, and the current version is closer to the pressed version. (Additionally, from their description of the loose color: “Reformulated in 4-2012 but very close to the original.”) Mine is from 2011–will grab the reformulated version next time I order from Fyrinnae to compare. I unfortunately did not connect the dots that mine was pre-reformulation, so my deepest apologies!

Fyrinnae Parental Advisory Eyeshadow ($6.25 for 0.11 oz.) is described as a “vivid shimmery royal purple.” It’s a vibrant, bluish purple with sparkling shimmer. It has strong, blue undertones but still comes out as more purple than blue. Applied damp, it is a slightly softer, less blue purple, and then applied dry over Pixie Epoxy produces a more intense, deeper purple.  The texture is very soft and finely-milled, and a little goes a long way. It wasn’t difficult to blend, but it wasn’t easy as some of Fyrinnae’s other shades. Applied on bare lids, it lasted seven hours well and had some minor fading after eight as well as some noticeable fall out; applied over Pixie Epoxy, and it looked as-applied even after nine hours with no fall out.   I don’t have anything quite like this color; anything with similar brightness is much, much bluer (like Sugarpill Royal Sugar).

Parental Advisory Pressed Eyeshadow ($8.25 for 0.09 oz.) is described as a “vivid shimmery royal purple.” It’s a brightened, medium-dark violet purple with subtle cool undertones and a warmer, lavender shimmer. Maybelline Painted Purple is cooler-toned, cream. MAC Pink Union #2 is slightly darker. Inglot #441 is warmer, pinker. See comparison swatches. It was actually just discontinued (as in, yesterday, due to being too fragile in pressed form), but I thought since I already photographed and tested it, I might as well add it into this post as a comparison against the loose formula. The loose eyeshadow is actually more complex and less readily duped, and it has a much cooler, bluer tone to it overall. I walked all around my house to look at the two side-by-side under different lighting, and they really were surprisingly different.  The texture of this one was very soft and smooth, and it was easy to blend and apply on the lid. It lasted eight hours with minor fading but no fall out without any primer, and layered over Pixie Epoxy, it lasted the same length of time.

Both are pretty, but I prefer the pressed eyeshadow. I’m very disappointed it’s no longer available. Most purples pull too blue or pink but this one was perfect. 🙁

Very vibrant colors, but not something I would buy. I AM going to comment on Aztec Gold and Gender Bent, as I own both.
I adore Aztec Gold, it is one of the most unique colors (on me) that I have seen in a while and I love it. It looks amazing with my green eyes, it changes color, I have two!!
Gender Bent is also a really pretty shade.

I got this one. This is the prettiest purple I own, which is saying a lot. I LOVE purple, it’s my favorite color. This one is so bright and yet it’s dark, I love it.

Oh wow, what a difference! I wish purples weren’t so hard to formulate — the pigmentation of these is gorgeous, but I much prefer the hues of the pressed version to those of the loose. I hope their chemist manages to reformulate the pressed version, or tweaks the loose to bring back the pressed colour! 🙂

I want both! Even if they are “technically” the same color! I want to poke the loose version, it just looks so touchable and velvety… But I have a feeling I’d have purple-stained fingertips.XD I especially like the pressed version’s swatch.

Why can not see anything on their website? Where can I order from? It’s just a black background, nothing on it! Can you please help me, or is it just me!? Thank you!

Ya know, Christine . . . you just wave that purple under my nose and send me into a feeding frenzy. I bleed purple. There are not enough purple loose/pressed shadows in the world to satisfy my purple lust. I just placed a ginormous order with Fyrinnae after seeing their purple duochromes. @_@

😉

Hi Christine,

I thought you’d want to know that the where to buy link for the second shadow brought me to Sugarpill instead of Fyrinnae. The first one works fine. I don’t know if it’s just me but I tried it twice and got the same thing…..I always try to link to site when I buy (we all should) to give you the credit. It’s a very small way of saying thanks for your hard work for us.

Yaay, I have this one (loose proto-reformulation)! I also have a beautiful matte purple e/s from Fyrinnae called “New Moon’s Light”. Sadly, it’s been discontinued.
