Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Nothing new this week for me! 🙂

Weekend plans: I feel like I need to do a more formal update on everything going on my end, but it’s just been crisis after crisis! Last Saturday, there were nine orphan newborns that were in really rough shape that people found in an alley, which I ended up taking, but eight didn’t make it in the first 24 hours, and then the remaining survivor passed away this morning.

What hobby has been taking up most of your time lately? Puppy fostering!

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. Recent purchases/Rediscoveries: Purchases – I can’t think of anything more than the Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Body Cream that I got to try to sooth the remaining hives I’m battling: Rediscoveries: A wonderful old Tarte palette – the Tarte for Aqualilies palette (it has some of the BEST eyeshadows in a wonderful formula) and NARS Old Church Street duo. I’ve also been wearing Chanel Pirate lipstick for the past few days – getting in the mood for Xmas red lipsticks!

Weekend plans: starting Xmas shopping (I hope), going to the gym (I slacked today and may slack tomorrow too), getting my Xmas recipes organized for Christmas Eve dinner, traditional Christmas meal (but a small one) and Boxing Day Brunch. I might also shop for some of the basics that can go into the freezer….

Hobby that’s been taking up my time: well, the gym (like always) and a bit of sewing (mostly organizing patterns and fabric).

A couple of weeks ago you posted that you had bought Sephora’s Hong Kong by Night lipstick. It is one that I have and love. A gorgeous shade and I think you would love it too. Olivia adores it…..
Best wishes for the Christmas shopping….I have to say that I am more organised this year than ever before. I have actually wrapped up all of the presents, apart from my husband’s. I getting him some new pairs of ‘good’ pants, which he has to try on. That is on the cards for next week. I was talking Christmas day food with my sister last night too. Hopefully your Christmas day won’t be too freezing and ours won’t be too hot.

It’s a surprisingly nice (for me, since I’m a cool colours kind of gal) shade and perfect for autumn (it’s still technically autumn and our weather has been blessedly “autumnal” – mild rather than bitterly cold).

I HATE people like you (just kidding, really) – every year I swear that “next year, I will be more organized” but it never happens! Hubs and I are heading out tomorrow to do the last (I hope) of the gift shopping. We decided this year to draw names as my older son has just purchased his first house (on his own) and had massive expenses moving back to Ontario from Alberta and my daughter and her husband have been on one income for 18 months (well, with mat leave pay as well) but even so, trying to find just what the chosen recipient likes/wants….ugh! Grand-daughter is easy but, alas, I chose my son in law’s name and if I can’t find the sweater he wants, it might be a gift card for that store instead…. I am taking the week before the holidays off to do baking for our 2 Xmas meals and already the office administrator at my school is sort of pulling her hair out knowing she can’t book me in!

OH Christine – how hearbreaking to have the puppies pass away through neglect on the part of their owner – who dumped them in an alleyway. How disgraceful and lacking in basic human decency they are.
Luckily they were found but really too late. I am sure they must have been suffering from hypothermia and lack of milk from their mother. You must have been devastated by the remaining puppy’s death this morning.
Recent Purchases: My eldest son got me the PMG Sublime Bronze Ambition 6 pan for my birthday. I think it is the same as what Mariella has. The eyeshadows are gorgeous and suit me well. I am so thrilled that Gold Rush is an exact dupe of my very favourite Gold Nectar shade.
The other day you asked the question ‘What would you buy if it were 50% off?’ And one of my responses was the Tom Ford Suspicion Quad – because it is the only one that I like all the shades of.
Well, two days later a major department storre here in Melbourne offered 30% off their Tom Ford eye quads (something they have never, ever done before) and I snapped it up oh so speedily so it wouldn’t sell out. It is my husband’s gift to me for Christmas.
Skincare – there were lots of skincare sales, but the one in which I did purchase was from The Ordinary – a couple of bottles of Argon Oil and their B Oil.

Weekend Plans: It has been really humid around town this week and lots of thunderstorms – especially over this weekend. We have been very busy with our grandchildren and we are having one over to stay this weekend and then I am taking all three of the older ones to a play centre tomorrow.
I have been busy this week cleaning out the fridge (a dreaded chore) and doing some extra cleaning in preparation for Christmas. I have wrapped up most of the presents, with just a few to go.

What hobby has been taking up most of your time lately? I don’t know if it’s a hobby – but running around after my grand children – picking them up from school/daycare and spending time at my DIL’s place helping her fold the mountain of washing she has every day and holding Charlotte – who is putting on weight now that we have found the right bottle teat for her (my husband researched it for a couple of hours earlier on this week and I rushed out to get a couple of bottles for her – just to see if she liked these teats and she does). She is a very happy, smiley little sweetheart.
Other than the above, I do enjoy a good book and am always reserving those recommended to me at the local library.

Haul: Ciate Vit C primer, YSL Couture Mini Clutch e/s palette in 100 Strora Dolls, Peter Thomas Roth Water Drench Rich Barrier Moisturizer and Dior Rouge Refillable lipstick in 100 Nude.

Weekend plans: As I am typing this I am about 2 days into a 4 day snowstorm so I will be staying home and trying to stay warm! I plan to get my Christmas cards done and in the mail, do last minute mailing of packages and do some housework. I also plan on working on a few more ornaments for my daughter.

Hobbies: I do origami, scrapbooking, mixed media and that is about it!

Genevieve Avatar

I hope you are safe and warm in the snowstorm Deborah and getting all your Christmas cards done is such a good idea whilst you are stuck inside.
I just looked up that eyeshadow quad, Stora Dolls from YSL – what a stunningly gorgeous quad that is! I love the colours (and so would Mariella) – very cool toned and cohesive too.
I hope the quality is there – they certainly look very pigmented.
Have a lovely weekend Deborah.

Hi Genevieve, I have watched several YT videos using the YSL palette and they have all said they are wonderful, practically blend themselves and have good staying power. I find that to be true. I really like two of the others so may pick them up soon. I hope you are doing well. I wish I were in Australia and going into summer instead of winter. I am already tired of it and ready for spring!!

Having followed all of your fostering missions, this last one was absolutely GUTTING. Especially for you, I’m sure. Yet, when Bay passed away, it was just so painful for probably all who were rooting for this little one, myself included. 💔

Purchases/rediscoveries: Drunk Elephant Protini Polypeptide cream, Dr. Dennis Gross Advanced Retinol & Ferulic Eye Serum, The Inkey List De-puffing & Dark Circle Caffeine Eye Cream as well as their 15% Vitamin C and EGF Serum.

Weekend plans: It’s been a very hectic and exhausting week with medical tests, and today will add to that since I go in for my Inflectra infusion today. Nothing else firmly planned.

What hobby has been taking up your time lately? Getting back into baking things from scratch again now that it’s cool enough out for me to run my oven!

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: my big Moira order arrived!
Weekend plans: Rest and more rest, focusing on building up my health.
What hobby has been taking up most of your time lately? No hobbies lately, no energy 🙁

Dear Christine:
I am so very sorry to hear of those puppies who didn’t make it. You did your best and I think what you do with working with and loving these puppies is truly beautiful. They are so lucky to have you care for them.
