Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Pat McGrath SatinAllure lipsticks arrived! I have to do lip swatches still (hopefully later this morning).

Weekend plans: I’m planning to finish up some swatching this morning, then label, edit, crop, and upload all the images I’ve taken in the last week. I think my mom will stop by to see the puppies. They are real puppies now doing all those puppy things – playing, gnawing, exploring, and starting to run around. There’s no more sneaking up on them!

Do you use social media? I definitely do for Temptalia as a business! More personally, I get the most enjoyment out of TikTok, where I don’t engage with beauty content as much as possible.

Psst… since it’s Friday and we’re heading into the weekend, if you have some downtime, consider playing one of the games hubby and I have created! 🙂 You’ll find all of our games on Awordy, but here’s a breakdown of what we have so far:

  • Adoptle (guess the name of an adoptable pet in six guesses)
  • Concludle (figure out the subject within six clues)
  • Mislettered (guess one letter at a time to figure out the phrase/quote)
  • Word Frenzy (find as many words from the letters available before the shark devours them)

This week's doggo photo/video...

Share your pet photos to the Temptalia Pets flickr group!

Comments alerting us to typos or small errors in the post are appreciated (!) but will typically be removed after errors are fixed (unless a response is needed).

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Just have to comment on all these precious puppies. May each and every one of them have happy, healthy lives with those who unconditionally love them. Great job, Christine!

Seraphine Avatar

I love the puppy photos!

Recent purchases: Urban Decay 24/7 Eye Pencil in Roxy (this shade makes my green eyes look even greener), NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer Mini in Madeleine (just trying it out…so far, so good)

Weekend plans: Visiting family, chores, and going to see a couple of local bands play

Do you use social media? Not much. The only one I use is Facebook, where I belong to a couple specific-interest groups.

Jane Avatar

They are precious!!!! I like the one with the semi-curly hair, I think it’s Porterhouse.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Nothing real new, just continuing to discover my Revolution London Makeup Revolution X Coke-Cola Shadow palette. Wore three colors to an association meeting last night and had complements!
Weekend plans: Son’s B-day, so I’m making a cake! Prayer & encouragement group on Saturdays and likely some work.
Do you use social media? Yes, like you for business and a little to stay in touch with family and friends Stateside.
Games: I’ll try a few of yours, thanks! My son is wanting me to download Steam for came play and I’m not sure I’m ready for him to go there. 😉

DO YOU USE SOCIAL MEDIA?
Mostly just Facebook and YouTube any more.

Stephanie Avatar

Your grandpuppies are cuter than ever, Christine!!

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Nothing as of right now as I am saving money to treat myself when we go to Mexico in a few weeks. Our 20 year anniversary is two months from TODAY and my mind is blown!

Weekend plans: I have been in a MS relapse for about a month, and while it is not over my apartment is a pig stye, so something needs to be done. I think hubs and I will open up the windows and clean whatever we can (that I have energy for at least!) The weather is pretty nice on the central coast at the moment, so it seems like good timing.

Do you use social media? I have 2 insta accounts to share makeup and art, but I am actually most active on tumblr. I have been on tumblr for over 10 years, and while it has its shortfalls it is the social media site where I have been able to really tailor my experience and control what kind of content I see. I look at a lot of things like social justice/equality stuff, art (so much art!!), fashion, and of course cute animals. I know these things aren’t for everyone but most days I can spend a little bit of time scrolling my dashboard and I can walk away feeling refreshed. No other social media has ever done that for me! I have my little weirdo corner and I am happy with it, and it is where I feel like my most authentic self.

Nancy T Avatar

Oh, Skirt! You stole my heart 💗
If I could actually be a “good” dog pawrent as in getting up early to walk you, didn’t already have 2 kitties in a place where the limit is “2 pets per apartment with breed restrictions”, I would 100% go for adopting you! Then again, I have already overstepped the 2 pet limit for a 6 month span…and you don’t look like a Pittie? 🤔

Recent Purchases/rediscoveries: Placed an order with Ulta when the Benefit Wanderful Blushes were half off and picked Crystah, also bought the full-size MAC Strobe Cream in Pinklite. Not actually “pink” , but it helps keep my foundation from turning ORANGE!

Weekend plans: Laundry, and on Sunday, we have our first back in person Assembly down in Casa Grande. Problem is that I have developed a form of agoraphobia where, yes, I can get out, but cannot deal with large crowds anymore. This happened very gradually. In fact, the first time I realized that something was off with me was last September when I attended a concert. I was fine going in. Fine during. But leaving? With literal THRONGS of people? I felt very panicky inside. Something that had never happened before. Didn’t tell anyone about it either except for my therapist, who really didn’t help me with finding useful tools for coping with crowded places!

Do you use social media? Oh yeah! Mostly Instagram and YouTube. With a little FB thrown in just to keep up with family and close friends. I may have a problem… addicted to screen!

Genevieve Avatar

A lot of people have problems with crowds (my husband hates them) and I don’t think it’s always a bit of agoraphobia either – just a hatred of crowds. I don’t know what you can do about it – just wait till the throng disappears. Practise some breathing exercises and remove yourself to a quieter space. I hope you enjoy your Assembly though.

kjh Avatar

Yes, it can be agoraphobia, but I just learned the term more appropriate for me: social anhedonia. I do not fear crowds/big groups, but the older I get…. Well, I get no pleasure from larger groups of people.. And the public in general. Trader Joe’s, Walmart… pretty full parking lot…cruise right on out or do one big instant u-turn inside. I’ve learned never to go to the Asian marketplace on casino bus days. Midweek afternoon is great. Genevieve: sounds like your husband. People who have genuine clinical, diagnosed agoraphobia and can’t leave their bedrooms need significant help. Fear and terror are very different from dislike or mild anxiety.
You are committed to your religion, so go, if you can. When you pick your battles, sometimes they really aren’t battles at all. You can do it.

Celesta Avatar

Recent Purchases: Just a few things from Ulta this week; needed a new serum and wanted a new cream blush or two from Flower Beauty.

Rediscoveries: I’ve used my Missha M BB Cream all week. I love how it looks on my skin when applied and how it wears throughout the day, but it really breaks apart on my nose after a while and looks horrible, so I need to experiment with some matte primers on that area, I think.

Weekend plans: My dad is coming over tomorrow for a visit and probably catching up on house work on Sunday… my husband and I were still slammed this week with work, and by the time the evening rolled around, we didn’t have much energy to do much but spend some time with our son, watch a show together and go to bed, lol.

Do you use social media? Just Instagram, and probably too much. I post my make up looks on one account and have a private account for family. I used to be on Facebook, but got off of it midway thru 2017 because it got too contentious and I didn’t like the FOMO I felt when I was on it… I used to have a Twitter account, but never used it much, and that was before it was a complete garbage fire inferno. Now I don’t go on there at all.

Genevieve Avatar

Another bad week at work – sometimes it just comes in waves and it’s awful to deal with.
I hope you enjoy your dad’s visit and he connects well with your son. Going to bed early would help you with the stress of it all. I sincerelyy hope it’s better next week.

Mariella Avatar

New purchases – nothing. Rediscoveries: Shiseido Chiyoko blush, UD Born to Run palette

Weekend plans: a friend has invited us for dinner tonight. Tomorrow, probably the gym (and I want to do some baking) and Sunday, maybe just the gym and all the usual stuff (laundry, hair-washing, groceries) and maybe more baking.

Do you use Social Media: I don’t have FaceBook, Instagram, I don’t watch Tik Tok, nor do I use Twitter and all the other stuff that’s come around. The most “social” I get is a women’s chat group (that grew out of Chatelaine magazine – a Canadian “women’s” publication) and sites like Temptalia.

Genevieve Avatar

Enjoy your dinner out Mariella and for a change, you are the one not cooking! My girlfriend came upon a delicious recipe involving salmon and potato salad – but alas and alack you and I cannot do this one – your husband is allergic to seafood and my husband hates salmon! What are you planning to bake?

Mariella Avatar

My husband isn’t allergic to salmon or to any fish – he just loathes it and will not eat it. He IS allergic to shellfish, though (highly allergic to shrimp) though he’s never eaten any because he’s always had a loathing for anything that came from the sea although I doubt his family when he was growing up could afford shrimp, lobster (a crustacean…not sure if he’s allergic or not) although they always had fish on Friday (devout RC family) but he was allowed to have a peanut butter sandwich instead! His abhorrence has been life-long but he only discovered the shellfish allergy when he went for some standard allergy testing.

I’m making blueberry muffins….lots of blueberry muffins!

Genevieve Avatar

Thank you so much for all of the updates on those gorgeous puppies! They are certainly growing up now and soon they will be (if they aren’t already) under your feet and ready to engage Winnie in a game.
Congratulations on a job well done Christine – you and Shaun have been wonderful parents to them.

Recent Purchases: My CP Clay Nice order came in this week and I have done nothing but wear either Drama Much or Trending from the set. They are sensational lipsticks.
My Antipodes order came in too – Vanilla Pod day cream and Baptiste Water Gel moisturising cream. A few of each – so some will go into my DIL’s birthday bag.
Priceline, our budget beauty and skincare shop, was having a half price cosmetics sale, so I got some more L’Oreal’s True Match foundation in porcelain rose, a couple of good mascaras and a tub of No7’s Moisturising Gel cream too.
Recent Discoveries: Stila by the Garden – such a goodie!

Weekend Plans: My twin sister said to say thankyou to all of those who wished her well last week. Sadly it has been confirmed that she has breast cancer, but the good news is that it hasn’t spread to her lymph nodes (so your prayers have worked). She is going in for a biopsy next Monday to see what type of cancer it is and at what stage it’s at. I am booked in for a mammogram myself – seeing as we are fraternal twins, I thought it was wise.
Friday – I met up with my two best girlfriends for lunch and we had a good, long chat over absolutely everything. It is wonderful to have such great friends.
Saturday – grocery shopping, some cleaning, laundry and the ususal.
Sunday – I do hope to go out for a drive in the countryside and a lunch out.

Do you use Social Media? No, I do not – no Facebook, Twitter, Tik Tok etc. Occasionally I go onto other Youtube beauty sites, but generally only here on Temptalia is the one of my choice.

Mariella Avatar

That Stila In the Garden palette is so good – it’s a reminder of just how good Stila’s powder shadows were. I don’t know why they basically gave up on making them. I have In the Garden and also In the Light and maybe half a dozen or so of their single shadows and all were SO excellent.

I hope your sister’s biopsy is encouraging and that her followup treatment goes very, very well. All the best to her (and to you, her sister who loves her so much!)

Genevieve Avatar

Thank you Mariella -we’re crossing our fingers and toes that all she needs is to have the lump removed and that the particular cancer is an easy one to get rid of.
And yes, I do love my sister very much.
Stila in the Garden (and In the Light) was made when the brand was at its zenith. Like so many brands, they changed their winning formula to something less winning…It’s a beautiful palette.

Genevieve Avatar

Thank you Rachel. We’re hoping that a lumpectomy is all that is needed too. I just thought that I haven’t had a mammogram myself for quite awhile (quite remiss of me) and this is the reminder to get one. The statistics for twins – even fraternal ones, is quite high.

JoiaJ Avatar

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Still masking (immunodeficient), so any makeup/beauty products are currently limited to skincare, mostly for dealing w/mask-related skin stuff :P. Did go in for a Dr. Dennis Gross facial steamer. Too soon to tells how well it works, but the ritual of it is very soothing :).

Weekend Plans: The cherry blossoms just hit peak bloom, so I’ll probably go hiking around and practicing some amateur photography. Trying to slowly start shaking out of “pandemic cozy mode”.

Do you use social media?: I do! Recent Instagram migrant from Twitter, but still trying to figure out a system for myself. (I’m very verbal, not that visual, so Instagram’s not a great fit. But I believe that visual media’s just going to become increasingly dominant, so how do I adapt to that?

The steaklets are so adorable – I’m loving all of the Instagram footage :). NINE?!? I don’t know how Bri does it.

Helene Avatar

First of all, PUPPIES! They are really cute. I would love to have Filet, but Europe is too far away for it to happen. They are all adorable!

Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Nothing and nothing.

Weekend plans: I plan tp play a lot of Diablo IV beta.

Do you use social media? Some, but not much. I am in a lot of Face Book groups, but I only really follow the Schnauzer groups I’m in. I have Instagram, but rarely check it. I used to really like it before Meta (Face Book) bought it and implemented their algorithms, I liked when it was in chronological order. I am on Twitter, but it’s so filled with hate these days, hate and stupidity so I rarely check it.
I still kind of like You Tube.
