- Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: PMG blushes!
- Weekend plans: Figure out how we’re going to handle having to move various things around as we are replacing carpeted areas (all bedrooms) with wood floors (to match the rest of the house). I prefer the feel of carpet in bedrooms, but the idea of having to replace carpet again… nah!
- Any summer plans?: We’ve never been people who travel much (or at all), and now that our families are local, there’s even less reason to do so — which means that summer plans for us remain the same as any other time of the year, LOL. Here in AZ, part of that is staying inside and staying cool!

New:
I ordered/received my first ever MAC foundation: Studio Radiance Sheer N3. I might have ordered a shade too light for summer (and maybe too dark for winter?). I also received the Becca Lightshifter Finishing Veil in Star Child (2) this week. I want to use it with the Dewing Tint, which I have two shades of.
Weekend:
Dogs are always a priority 🙂
My girl (15 mos) was spayed yesterday so she’s in recovery mode. We’ll likely still go to the beach for on-leash only walks, but the weather has turned to rain for the next week, so it’s a good time for her to recover when the weather makes you want to stay inside anyway.
Summer:
We’re still waiting for second doses up here, so nothing exciting. By fall I might be back to work travel if all goes well!
I agree that those ears are irresistible.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Janet & Jo nail polishes in The Phoenix (bright orange), Day Party (medium peach), and Diet Starts Monday (cool yellow). From Marshal’s, Bare Minerals Round the Clock Intense Cream-Glide Eyeliner in 8 PM (dark brown), Stila Shimmer & Glow Liquid Eye Shadows in Kitten and Grace. I know that buying makeup in TJ Maxx and Marshals is controversial but I never have had a problem.
Weekend plans: Hot and sunny weather expected so I hope to get outside a bit but really it will be my usual weekend chores.
Any summer plans?: Nothing. We don’t normally travel in summer because of the crowds but it could be different this year because I am guessing people will start off slowly. My husband is having some health problems so it also will depend on how he is feeling.
I remember well the “stay inside, stay cool” days of Arizona life, LOL. At least this summer you’ll be able to stay inside with family 🙂
Purchases: My Sephora order arrived with a re-up of UD primer potion, the Laneige BD gift, and a couple perfume samples.
Rediscovery: I’ve had to do a neutral eye a couple times recently, and I reached for the CP Wild Nothing palette since it was on top of the stack from moving and… I don’t hate it? Like it definitely is not designed to be inclusive, but for a very pale girl like me it is nice. Still wish the colors had been more truly cactus inspired to match the packaging, though.
Weekend plans: As of this weekend we are now FULLY VACCINATED (two weeks past our second dose) so we are GOING OUT TO DINNER. We have reservations to eat outdoors so of course there’s rain in the forecast 😉 We’re also going to a tea-flavored ice cream pop up at a local tea shop, and we have a shopping appointment at the cookbook bookstore.
Summer plans: I’m hoping to stay close to home and reconnect with friends I haven’t seen in 15+ months. Also, I’m hoping to get a new job. I had an interview yesterday! My current job has become untenable (was on the phone before 8:30am with my boss yelling about Twitter trolls, I am not paid enough for this) so I am hoping to find something new before summer is over and move on with my life.
But, cute little noses like yours are made for booping, Winston!
Purchases/rediscoveries: Ole Henriksen Truth Serum and The Ordinary Buffet to backup my quarter full bottles of both.
Weekend Plans: I have a dental appointment this afternoon to repair and crown a broken molar. Fun times. Other than that, just my Zoom meeting tomorrow and going for a swim.
Any summer plans? A weekend in San Diego depending on finances. Other than that, watching our yearly Convention live streamed via JW.org on different weekends in pieces. I’ll be watching mine via Roku.
Recent Purchases. BH Cosmetics Avocado Toast Palette, (old news I know) but I tend to buy things much later than the release. I only have so much money after all. Jaclyn Hill Liquid Lipstick in the shade Crabby, and Colourpop supershock shadow in Empire.
I have been eyeing one of those quartz face rollers. I am not so sure if I should spring for one. It says it helps with tension of facial muscles and I tend to scowl. I feel a lot of tension in my forehead and I wonder if it is worth it for that. If anyone has opinions I would appreciate it.
No Weekend Plans: But tonight we are going the new Conjuring movie, and we are going to do a proper movie night with popcorn and candy.
Summer Plans: I wish, someday I will have a house with a yard and we will do barbecues all the time.
Can you please let us know what you think of The Conjuring, 3 is it. I really enjoyed the first one, can’t recall If I’ve seen the second, I think I have. though, I’ll have to check. I quite like a good horror film now and then.
Recent Purchases: Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation (which I really like so far!)
Rediscoveries: I used my ND Sunrise palette for the first time in a while this morning and was reminded how beautiful it is. The shade Awakening is my favorite from the palette; I wish ND’s metallics were always that rich and shiny.
Weekend plans: Prepping to paint my downstairs. I took care of the kitchen today, which was a lot of work, but the rest should go easier.
Any summer plans?: Hopefully seeing family. It would be nice to take a trip to an amusement park or the zoo sometime this summer. Definitely spending some time at the pool to teach my son how to swim. My husband is deathly afraid of bodies of water of any kind and I don’t want my son to have that fear.
EL Double Wear Foundation is one of my rediscoveries this week. 🙂
It is so nice! I only recently purchased it, so I’m just getting a feel for it, but I really love it so far.
Recent Purchases: ABH Norvina Pro Pigment Palette Vol. 2. Sephora had it on sale for $30, and I got another $10 off that, so I went for it.
Rediscoveries: Viseart Coy Palette — We’ve had some warm summer-like weather, and I was in the mood for light, yet colorful, looks.
Weekend plans: The usual chores and shopping.
Any summer plans?: In-state trips with our sons. We have a 5-day camping vacation in Eastern Oregon planned for the week of Father’s Day. We want to do a weekend trip to Mt. Hood, and maybe a camping trip at Crater Lake (it will depend on how packed it is this year). Day visits to the coast, of course.
Our 30th wedding anniversary is Aug. 31, and hubby and I have a 10-day vacation/second honeymoon planned for Oahu in mid-September. We plan on going to the beaches, exploring, shark cage diving (I’m so excited!! Life-long dream come true.) as part of our day on the North Shore, visiting Pearl Harbor and associated monuments and museums, and we’re not sure what else yet. We don’t want to pack in too many scheduled activities and keep things more laid back.
I had to Google Both Mt Hood and Crater Lake, what beautiful places!
Oahu has been a dream of mine for a long time, I don’t think I’ll get to go, but it seems so beautiful. I love nature and history so Pearl Harbor is also a place I’d like to visit. I have however seen how the Japanese pilots lived when visiting Japan some 10-12 years ago. It was not a comfortable living.
Recent Purchases: I run out of dry shampoo, so I made a Sephora order. I decided to give Briogeo another try, and got the Scalp Revival Charcoal + Biotin Dry Shampoo (which is a big risk, given that I didn’t liked anything else I tried from the brand; but so many love the brand, I’m obsessed to make it work for m). I didn’t want to take another risk, so I repurchased the Moroccanoil oil for my ends.
I got a free Drunk Elephant Sugared Koffie Almond Milk Scrub trial size from the offer section, and with my point perks I got a mini Lancome Monsieur Big Mascara and a mini Drunk Elephant C-Firma Day Serum.
Rediscoveries: That I absolutely hate fragrances with rose notes, even when they include my favorite vanilla, pear and caramel notes.
Weekend plans: Hiking, chores, groceries, just the usual stuff. And some rest, I never had such a long 4 days week as work.
Any summer plans?: I don’t think I can hope traveling back to Europe by the end of summer to visit my family. So no plans… unless I suddenly decide to do a roadtrip… but I would prefer to wait for my birthday in September.
Recent purchases – Nothing Rediscoveries – MAC Gazette Grey and Unbasic White eyeshadows (not worn together, though). Both are oldies that I’ve not dug out in over a year.
Weekend plans: Report card comments, making some soup (I made a large batch of Thai Sweet Potato soup and had to toss it; I think one of the sweet potatoes must have been bad because when hubs and I sat down to eat some, it tasted musty, mildew-y and VILE – what a waste of time and energy; I still can’t taste or smell properly, since having had COVID, or I might have noticed the “off” smell earlier). So I want to make another batch and a batch of Hungarian Mushroom soup. Temps are going sky high here so soup’s not exactly “seasonal” but I don’t think I’ll be venturing outside much this weekend because of the temps.
Summer plans: provincial guidelines permitting, 4 couples – all friends since uni – are getting together at the new cottage one couple bought just pre-Covid (it has a 7 car GARAGE, so it’s not exactly a “roughing it” type cottage) – we’ve all not seen one another in almost 2 years. We also want to fly to Edmonton (again, government travel guidelines permitting) to see our son who is stationed there. Once stores re-open, I want to get fabric to make some very simple, cool summer dresses and tops.
Recent Purchases: 5 new Marc Jacobs highliners (they were 50% off but I have previously used them all and love them), the Marc Jacobs Eye Pick You 4-Piece Longwear Eyeliner Set (on sale), Sephora Prom Date shadow, my first time trying Copacetic Cosmetics so three shadows from them arrived this week too.
Rediscoveries: Sephora Clubbing Stilettos eye contour eyeliner, Sydney Grace Campfire cream shadow,
Weekend plans: Still dealing with infections 🙁
Any summer plans?: Going to start swimming again every day here in AZ!
How gorgeous is Winston? What a beautiful, cuddly little boy he is.
Recent Purchases: Nada
Rediscoveries: Not really, since I have been so ill this week.
Weekend Plans: I had my kidney stone blasted yesterday (Friday) and was in a lot of pain after the procedure, but I have woken up this morning feeling OK for now. I just have to take it easy for the next couple of days.
We are still in lockdown and will be for the next week or so – apparently we have a new variant of Covid that is worrying the authorities and now is the rush to get everyone vaccinated.
Schools are closed, but kinders are open – which means that Lachlan can go to kinder, but Olivia can’t go to school – which she is upset about because she loves school. She has had her wires out of her arm and now can move it around freely.
Olivia was very sweet in telling me, before I went into hospital, all about how anaesthetics work and how I would wake up OK and not feel a thing.
Winter Plans: At the moment we all have no choice but to stay put and at least the amount of km from home we can roam to has increased from 5 to 10km – which means that our grandchildren can access some more parks.
When everything is back to normal (?) we would like to travel within our state and visit a few country towns and regions for a little holiday. But apart from that, we can’t really plan at all.
Genvieve – sorry to hear you’ve been having health woes (hope you’re turning a corner now – sounds like it). I think the last time we “talked” here, you folks were fully open so reading that you’re in lockdown again is distressing. It doesn’t take much for this virus to get another foothold and rear its ugly, ugly head. We are still in lockdown here in Ontario and our premier finally made the decision to have schools remain CLOSED (except for special needs, which is what I’m teaching) and I think it’s the right decision. All the work, worry, physical rearranging and re-setting up of classrooms for basically 2 weeks of in- school instruction AND the Covid risks involved, only to head right back in to summer holidays, seemed really foolish.
Thank you Mariella – I had a kidney stone on my right side (which is unusual) and ended up in hospital. Last Friday it was lasered, so I am still just a little bit sore.
Yep – our new lockdown 4.0 came pretty fast and swift. One minute we were cruising along – no masks, travel freely within the state etc and the next minute we are in full lockdown.
So with a family of 8 in our current household (2 working from home , one baby, a homeschooled 7 year old and a kinder boy who is allowed to go to kinder), it has all been very interesting. At least our travel limits have moved from 5 to 10 km.
The UK is experiencing another worrying increase in cases, after reopening almost fully, I think. I read a few weeks ago about a big concert or disco type event that was to be mask-free and would serve as a “test” as to whether they’ve got herd immunity and stuff….well, with the Delta variant, I guess that “test” was a bust. We’re slated to reopen more in about 2 weeks but I worry that in spite of tough stay at home guidelines (which far too many people are still ignoring), it will be too much too soon. We Face Timed with our older son last night and he thinks he might be able to take a trip home before he is re-posted to a new location (about 2 hours from where he is now but a small community that is also a training center for the Canadian Forces but it’s a bit of a hick town by his standards of what makes a place livable – one movie theatre, a WalMart and not a lot else…) But, oh my – if HE can come home, what a joy that will be. I am so looking forward to this! Keep feeling better, G, and don’t hesitate to go to the doctor if you don’t feel like you’re improving!
Recent Purchases: I ordered MAC Maison Rouge and YSL Contrary Fuchsia as well as The Ordinary Retinol Serum0.5% in Squalane and will pick the package up today.
Rediscoveries: EL Double Wear Foundation. I have oily skin the T-zone is like an oil well, noting keeps it matte for long. DW is one of the better foundations, but I still have to blot regularly throughout the day.
Some Dior Quints old ones, they don’t have the staying power of newer eyeshadows but the colours are quite lovely, I had forgot how much I used to love most of them. So far I have tossed 4 and kept 7. I think I’ll be through testing my Dior eyeshadow stash in about two weeks.
Weekend plans: Nothing out of the ordinary, gardening, chores. Taking care of the dog and paying him loads of extra attention. I keep hugging him, and he lets me, he is not a cuddly dog, but I think he understands why I have to, so he lets me.
Any summer plans?: My best friend will come visit for a couple of days. We’ll probably take a sort road trip or two.
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Got the Supergoop! Play Sunscreen, along with the KVD Tattoo Liner in “Mad Max Brown”, and the Fenty Slip Shine Lipstick in “Goji Gang”. For rediscoveries, the Colourpop It’s My Pleasure palette, which makes purple looks both subtle and bold alike
Weekend plans: This Saturday my family threw a small graduation party for my cousin
Any summer plans?: I’ll be going back to the East Coast in July to see my best friend for the first time in over a year
Recent Purchases/Rediscoveries: Beautylish: Z Palette, Wayne Goss lip gloss in Tulip, and Tweezerman nail clippers. Rediscovered Bobbi Brown Give A Fig Crushed Liquid Lip and Vanilla Longwear Cream Shadow Stick, which I used as an eyeshadow base.
Weekend Plans: It’s going to be 90F+ this weekend, so will be doing yard/garden work and enjoying our 3 season porch (and a/c!). Watching NHL playoff hockey and depotting the rest of my Suqqu eyeshadows and blush round out the weekend.
Summer Plans: We have a landscaping project to deal with oversized backyard gardens that will take place this summer. I am also hoping to go home to visit my mom in Canada for 8-10 weeks later in July. She had an illness and one of my sisters temporarily relocated to help her through it. She has recovered, thankfully. I’m waiting to see if some travel restrictions ease a bit, particularly the ones that require international travel through 4 Canadian airports only, none of which is where my mother lives, as well as restrictions on where you have to quarantine if visiting a person over age 65 years old. My mother and I are both fully vaccinated. My husband’s mother is also dealing with a significant health issue, so it will be good to be home to visit with her, and with friends – all whom I haven’t seen since March 2020.
