Flower Beauty Petal Kiss Kiss Stick Velvet Lip Color Review, Photos, Swatches
Flower Beauty Petal Kiss Kiss Stick Velvet Lip Color
Flower Beauty Petal Kiss Kiss Stick Velvet Lip Color ($6.98 for 0.10 oz.) is a warm-toned, rosy pink with a matte finish. Chanel Liaison is brighter. Giorgio Armani Blush is a smidgen darker, less matte. NARS Bolero is lighter. MAC Reel Sexy is warmer. MAC Haute Altitutde is shinier. MAC Coral Bliss is warmer. Bobbi Brown Miami Coral is glossier. See comparison swatches.
It has opaque color, and the consistency was just barely creamy, so there was some tugging and dragging during application. The real downside is that this is one of the most drying formulas I’ve come across, and with full disclosure, this is the only shade I’ve tried. I believe I bought another shade or two, but my lips weren’t just dried out but partially cracked, and I had to take a couple days off to let them heal–and I’m just not sure I want to go through all of that again. It smelled lightly like vanilla and baby powder. Petal Kiss wore for four and a half hours when I tested it.

Oh yeah I can see how dry it looks on your lips! It is a nice color though.
I was glad you could at least tell from the initial swatch, LOL!
You have a cute dog 😀
Woah yeah, that looks SO dry…
It was! 🙁
I have this in a coral color and I like it, but Petal Kiss looks really dry! It is a nice color for someone who doesn’t have a lot of lip color naturally. I think it’s pretty much lip color for me so I’ll pass.
Good to know that not all shades are dry!
It definitely looks really dry in the swatch, Too bad, because the color is cute.
Yeah! The color is really nice!
Outch, Christine, it already looks painful in the pictures…
Definitely one of the drier formulas I’ve tried 🙁
I have two of these–Get to the Poinsettia and So Gladiola. They aren’t particularly moisturizing, but neither of them dry my lips out. Get to the Poinsettia is one of my favorite bright reds that I own, including high end ones.
I know we have really different lips, because I’ve been enjoying Temptalia for a while, and I rarely find formulas drying that are rated as drying on here.
I might have to stay away from the formula – since it seems like my lips are more sensitive than yours! Thanks, Amy!
Oh, no! It looks as if it sucked the moisture right out of your lips. 🙁 The things you do for us, Christine! Good thing you have good, old, reliable Jack Black Lip Balm.
I actually tested Hourglass’ lip treatment after using this, LOL!
Ooh, I read your review for that the other day. Petal Kiss has served its purpose then. 😀
I’ve been waiting for this colour to be reviewed. Sadly, i don’t think this brand is sold in Canada…:( (but i’m still considering Liaison…:).
Liaison is at least more comfortable!
I’ve only tried the Flower lipstick in the black case, which have a glossy finish. I don’t find them to be drying at all. I quite like the one I picked up, Black Rose. It is too bad this formula isn’t as good, because a lot of the products in the line look really promising.
Glad to hear that formula is better!
Totally agree! I have the Peony color in the black case lipstick and I like it a lot.
Also, check out the lip gloss and lip butters, they’re my new favorites/go-to lip products.
Haute Honeysuckle Lip Butter is definitely a MLBB shade (for me, at least.)
Great color but jeez! It looks like you have straight lip liner on your lips! How awful 🙁 I know Illamasqua does all matte lipsticks and I find them drying but wow, this looks super uncomfortable!
It was crazy dry! 🙁
I’m really sorry to know that. I like what available from Flower but to know there’s a great color that’s ruined by a dry formula really bites. Hopefully the others aren’t as bad from reading other comments.
Such a shame Christine! The colour is amazing in you. Totally a ‘your lips but better’ shade for you.
Thanks, ShanC!
Wow…that color is beautiful and it looked beautiful on you. I wanted it as soon as I saw it. Too bad it’s so drying. I have very sensitive lips so I won’t be trying this lip color. Maybe I’ll try the Georgio Armani Blush, it looked to be the closest match. How does Blush compare as far as wear and moisturizing?
Hi Ro!
I reviewed Blush here: http://www.temptalia.com/giorgio-armani-blush-500-lip-maestro-review-photos-swatches
Four and a half hours isn’t even a good wear time for something that’s clung to your lips like that! It’s a shame because they color itself looks beautiful on you.
By the way, did you stop writing down what other make up you’re wearing on the pictures at the end of the posts or am I just not finding it? Haha
I think all I’m wearing here is black eyeliner (Guerlain’s Kajal), so I didn’t think anyone would want to know 🙂 I only include it if I’m wearing something other than the product reviewed (and maybe eyeliner).
Right, thanks for replying! I just saw your review of Chanel’s Ocean Shimmer Glossimer and thought the blush you were wearing looked fantastic but didn’t see it which one was it so I thought maybe you had stopped doing it altogether =)
That just looked painful to wear. I suspect lipsticks like these are why some people refuse to wear drugstore products, not knowing there are far better DS formulas available.
It’s definitely not helping 🙁
Ugh, what a shame… it’s such a pretty colour, too.
I know 🙁
Pretty color, but Chanel Liaison looks like a better product and similar enough.
It is wayyy better!
I got one lipstick from this line. I dont remember the name but it was a beautiful pink, one of the best pinks I have ever found. The problem was the texture. It felt too waxy on my lips. I tried and tried to wear it because its rare when I find a pink that flatters my complexion, but that waxy feel was too much for me. It felt so heavy and it felt as if it was coming off all the time. I had to return it, I wouldn’t recommend them at all.
Aww, that is too bad, CC!
It’s so disappointing about the formula because the color is GORGEOUS and I’m such a fan of the brand’s philosophy
I was super bummed 🙁
Catherine : I’m sorry but what’s philosophy ? This brand contains many harsh chemicals for environment (that’s include you and animals) so for me, it’s really not at all cruelty-free.
Christine : Yours lips became dry because of the high mineral oil on it (and with their conservatives). But you’re really brave to test all cosmetics on you. And it’s true, the color is beautiful but not original at all.
I think it’s such a shame for the Drew who claims to be love animals and so on 🙁
Thanks for the info, Lala!
You’re welcome 😉
It’s such a lovely soft rose, almost my-lips-but-better with a slight pop of color – what a shame that it’s so drying. 🙁
Totally agreed, Verily!
EWWW, that looks sooooo dry. Ruby Woo looks very dry to me on your lips but this just looks like bronzing powder….I hope your lips are ok now 🙁 I guess the shade ain’t that nice either, it’s nice on you cause you’re darker but on pale skin it’d look like poo, lol. Too bad for the cute name and tube..
Ruby Woo is a walk in the park compared to this!
Actually this shade is very beautiful on pale skin as well, it looks amazing on Christine, but on paler complexions it´s actually darker and very flattering.
Oh ya, I bought a bright and beautiful shade when these first released and although I have to layer it with a lip butter and gloss to avoid dry lips, I hate the lipstick. I think it’s overpriced and the formula is horrible.
Eeeek, $7 for chapped, dry lips, no thanks! I get that for free if I forget to put on lip balm before bedtime. This will only serve to increase my aversion to wearing matte lipsticks on their own, I always swipe on some matte lip balm under. Shame, I do like the color.
