Uncensored
Fenty Beauty Uncensored Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid Lip Color ($24.00 for 0.13 oz.) is a medium-dark red with neutral undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque pigmentation in a single–there was more product on the applicator than necessary for full coverage.
Per the brand, it’s supposed to offer “12-hour hold” that feels “weightless” and “one stroke” pigmentation. The consistency was smooth, thin but not watery, and easy to spread across the lips, though I felt like the applicator had a tendency to over-apply product so I’d try to wipe some off against the opening or use a separate lip brush to apply. The wand itself was a cinch to use on the lips, and it seemed to hug the natural contours of my lips and glide evenly across them. It dried down for the most part within a few minutes, but it wasn’t completely transfer-proof–the brand didn’t make the claim that it was, and it actually described the finish as a “soft matte” (usually code for not fully matte). The color stayed on well for nine hours and seemed to be non-drying.

Formula Overview

Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint Longwear Fluid Lip Color ($24.00 for 0.13 oz.) is supposed to offer “12-hour hold” that feels “weightless” and “one stroke” pigmentation. The formula features a very smooth, fluid consistency that is thin and almost emollient (a little slippery, not watery though), which I have often found harder to control compared to the average liquid lipstick. Part of the lack of control stems from the fact that the formula is quite pigmented, and the curvy applicator seems to hold an excessive amount of product.
The end result is that it can be easy to apply more product than one needs, so patience and controlled movements are key to application. It takes a minute to two minutes for it to dry down for the most part with the more recently released shades drying down to a flatter, more matte finish that's more transfer-resistant. They feel particularly comfortable, as they flex and feel lightweight on, and they aren't drying at all on me. They last between six and 10 hours on me.

That looks absolutely stunning on you!
Thanks, Charlotte! xo
This was one that I had to restrain myself from getting until, and only after, you reviewed it. I knew that it truly did look like a very universally flattering shade of vivid red, but I really needed to know more about the formula itself, ie; drydown matte or more of a CP USLS. Now that I know that this is not a full drydown, and also, non-drying, it’s a green light for me!
Let me know how you like it, Nancy! 🙂 I’d say more dry down than Ultra Satins but definitely not full since there’s some transfer throughout.
I definitely will! There’s a good chance that I may go up to the Sephora over here this evening to get it. If not, then Monday.
I felt very different about this product. It is EXACTLY the same color as NARS PowerMatte in Starwoman. However Starwoman was a better product for me. It was more opaque and actually dries down. I was so disappointed that I’d already owned this color so I took Fenty back. If she came out with other colors I’d definitely buy one because it’s pretty but it not drying down is a negative. They were both made in Italy do you think they were made at the same place?
This was super pigmented on me – I felt like it was almost over-pigmented! Lots of products are made in Italy, so I really don’t know – the formulas feel different to me, though.
Did you try them together. I wore NARS on the bottom lip and Fenty on the top lip and no one could tell the difference all day. I just said it was all Fenty. I do think NARS was better
I wasn’t dismissing that the colors are similar, but for me, from the texture and how they dry down, they feel different enough on my lips that it didn’t seem like the same formula – hope that clarifies my comment! I think they’re both good formulas.
I did just apply them side-by-side (half on one side, half on the other – I find it’s easier for me to see and feel differences when there’s some on the upper and lower lip rather than putting one color on the top lip and another on the bottom), and the colors aren’t identical on me – Uncensored is brighter, lighter, and pulls more neutral compared to Starwoman, which is deeper, more muted on me. I’m not saying they’re completely different (they are definitely similar), but they aren’t identical on me.
On my skintone (NC45) Starwoman pulls darker. I think it’s more blue-based than Uncensored. I personally find that Uncensored is a more comfortable wear, but Starwoman is definitely more transfer resistant. I love them both. I feel Uncensored is a more everyday red, while Starwoman is a more old Hollywood glamour red. Applicator wise, I prefer the Fenty one.
I forgot to add that I prefer the packaging of Nars. It’s easier to simply throw in the purse than the Fenty one.
This is definitely going on my Christmas wish list!
Yayy!
Duped, but not by the first page list. Don’t Stop has been atop my WL for eons, but I keep waiting for a PM set, that never happens! What I like about Uncensored is the depth and saturation. Gorgeous, classic, and traditionally stunning on you.
It’s a very classic red – I can see why they positioned it as universal!
Wow. That is one gorgeous red lipstick.
It is!
Man, that looks awesome!
It’s a rich red!
I’ve never tried liquid matte lipsticks because I have dry lips, and I’d rather reapply a shade every few hours than to have cracked lips. I feel like liquid mattes generally look drying, even a little, on your reviews, and I know I must have drier lips than you so I always pass. But this formula looks promising! I hope it would be the same for the other shades!
A lot of liquid matte formulas are drying over time and some look drying (some look more drying than they feel to me, too). This one definitely felt more comfortable than most, though.
Bianca, I completely understand what you mean about dry lips. Unfortunately it seems anything deemed long wear will suck the life out of my lips. On a side note, I found a great affordable fix for dry lips…it’s actually for nursing mom’s but it heals my lips like nothing else. All it is is lanolin. The tube has lasted me over a year (a little goes a long way) and i’m about halfway through it! I use it before bed. It can leave a bit of a film so i’ve never tried with lipstick and can’t say how it would look or wear. I have a brand called Lansinoh (from CVS) but alot of drug stores sell their own brand and it’s the same ingredient. Some people have reactions to lanolin and i’m not sure where it falls if you happen to be vegan. But for me, nothing else has come close to healing my dry cracked lips. Back to the lip color…it does look stunning but I worry it may be drying to me.
Wow. I also have MUFE’s Artistic Lip Ink, which I love, but looks to be slightly more translucent than this. I am really happy to know this is out there.
Let me know if you try it! 🙂
I can deal with the lack of dry-down, but my real problem is that this feathers like crazy on me. More than ANY other lipstick, liquid or otherwise, that I’ve ever tried. However, I love the color so much, and the formulation is otherwise so comfortable to wear for a matte, that I’m really going to try to work with it with liners/primers and see if I can problem-solve around it.
I’m very curious why it seems like it dries down more or less for some – like some reviews made it seem like it transferred constantly, but I could drink from a glass and come away with little to no transfer through the whole glass of whatever!
I hope a liner helps!
This could be the perfect red to last through an all day or all night event – nine hours without drying lips is an incredible review.
Christine (or other readers), how do you feel this compares to RiRi Woo?
Wow! What a pretty shade that would be perfect for the holidays!
I missed Sephora sale for the first time in past 9 years and on top of that my GC is also getting down the drain ☺…. Anyways…
This is sooooooo gorgeous on you
I might pick a dupe though.. NARS or MAC may be…
I even want CT liquid lipstick in RED shade
Wow, that’s the most gorgeous shade of red I’ve ever seen and it looks absolutely stunning on you! I have her original gloss and it’s perfection.
