Ginger Binge/Moscow Mule

Fenty Beauty Ginger Binge/Moscow Mule Killawatt Freestyle Highlighter Duo ($34.00 for 0.24 oz.) contains two rose golds–one lighter, one deeper–and both are quite shimmery with high-shine finishes. This duo will be most suitable for someone who likes richer, more pigmented highlighters with metallic to glittery finishes and isn’t concerned when highlighters accentuate the skin’s natural texture. I felt the quality of the left side of the duo was better than the other duos.

Ginger Binge

Ginger Binge is a rich, medium-dark rosy copper with warmer undertones and a metallic sheen. Of all the duos, this shade was the most shimmery on the left side–it was by no means subtle. It was very pigmented with a smooth, almost cream-like texture that was denser and less thin compared to the other duos, too, and I didn’t feel like this one would develop a stiffer/firmer texture over time. I did not notice it emphasizing my skin’s natural texture when I tested it out, but if you have more texture, it would seem like a possibility based on the metallicness of the finish. It wore well for eight hours on me before breaking down a bit.

Formula Overview

$36.00/0.28 oz. - $128.57 Per Ounce

The formula is described ranging from “subtle dayglow to insanely supercharged” with a “cream-powder hybrid” formula that feels “weightless” and is long-wearing. They can also be used on the eyes, body, lips, and so forth, per the brand. They feel like a traditional powder, but they have a smooth, moderately dense texture that doesn’t kick up a lot of excess product in the pan but also does not feel stiff or difficult to pickup with the brush. The finishes varied from shade to shade; where Metal Moon was the most subtle and had a satin-to-pearl finish, Trophy Wife was the most over-the-top with chunky, obvious glitter and less base color compared to the other shades.

The duos featured a light-to-moderate highlighter on the left and then a more sparkly, metallic highlighter on the right with the exception of Ginger Binge/Moscow Mule, where the left shade (Ginger Binge) was more intense (possibly owing to the richer color and payoff). In general, I found the left, more subtle side of each duo to be sheer to semi-sheer, somewhat buildable, whereas the right, more metallic side was substantially more pigmented. All of the more intense highlighters (Trophy Wife and the right side of the duos) did accentuate the look of my skin’s natural texture to some degree.

For use on the eye, they worked better with a slightly dampened brush, as it gave the powder a bit more binding powder for better adherence to the lid, but the ones I tried on the lid were blendable and easy to apply with no real concerns from the application itself other than the potential for fallout over time.

Moscow Mule

Moscow Mule is a dark, rosy copper with warmer undertones and a sparkling, metallic finish. It had intense, opaque color payoff in a single layer, but the texture was incredibly soft and smooth, which made it easy to blend out the edges or sheer out the coverage if desired. The downside was that it definitely made my skin look more textured than most highlighters, though I personally liked the way it reflected light and color enough that it’d be a shade I’d continue to wear, but I know that that can be a deal-breaker for some (and it is factored into the rating). I also don’t think it keeps with the brand’s description of “superfine” shimmer either–quite the contrary, as it was quite over-the-top, sparkly, and so forth. This shade lasted for eight hours but turned a bit patchy after that.

this duo along with girl next door/chic phreak are my faves .

although it’s too dark for me to use as a highlight , i could see myself using it as blush & eyeshadow .

Love this duo! Although having MAC Highlight The Truth makes this a redundant purchase for me, I suppose. It’s still so very tempting because these shades speak to my love of glowy highlighting blushes so much! Ginger Binge looks amazing on you as that type of all-in-one cheek look.

I swatched this in store, and thought this duo was the best quality by far. I think the 2 colors are bit too similar to each other, but they are stunning nonetheless. I will probably get this one, I don’t have close dupes in my stash, and I can use as shadow, blush, and blush highlighter

This was actually one of the standout products to me. I love using Ginger Binge as a blush and using Moscow Mule as a highlighter. So pretty. And when I’m feeling particularly lazy, I’ll swipe a bit of MM on my entire eye for a nice, low key, and simple monochromatic look.
