Fenty Beauty Cadet (7) Snap Shadows Eyeshadow Palette Review & Swatches
Cadet (7)
Fenty Beauty Cadet (7) Snap Shadows Mix & Match Eyeshadow Palette ($25.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a new, permanent palette that features four mattes and two shimmers. Most shades had semi-opaque pigmentation or better, applied without too much work, and lasted between seven and eight hours on me. The shade I found trickiest to work with was Money Mission, which was thicker and worked best with fingertips for application.

Money Mission
Money Mission is a bright, white gold with moderate,w arm undertones and a metallic sheen. The texture was dense, thick, and felt cream-like (as if it were packed with silicones), which made it harder to pick up with a brush evenly with a brush. I found it performed best by patting and pressing it into place with a fingertip as this helped spread the product out better and gave a more even result and mitigated most of the fallout. It lasted nicely for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

Formula Overview
-
The formula is supposed to have "rich, blendable color" that is available in "matte, shimmer, and glitter long-wear finishes." There were a few distinctive formulas used throughout the palettes in which the eyeshadows are housed, but generally, they were decent eyeshadows that were buildable, fairly blendable, and had decent wear, but I felt like most of the shimmers were thin, a little dusty, and had a tendency to look less shimmery once applied (almost a faded quality to them).
The matte formula was most consistent and had semi-opaque to opaque color coverage that went on fairly evenly and blended out without too much effort, though some deeper shades took longer to diffuse or went on patchily initially and had to be diffused and blended out to a more even application. The wear ranged from seven to eight hours on me before they showed signs of fading.
The shimmer formula was typically thin, dusty, and more prone to sheering out or looking somewhat "faded" and less shimmery after a few minutes on my lid. There were a few shades that seemed to have a denser, thicker formulation that offered greater intensity in its shimmer finish but had light fallout and looked thicker on the lid, so they did not layer as well with the other shades (which were thinner). The wear ranged from six to eight hours before fading.
The glitters had a gritty feel to them, as one might expect of a glitter-packed product, with decent spreadability. The wear ranged from seven to eight hours with light to moderate fallout.

Phatigue
Phatigue is a light-medium olive green with strong, warm undertones and a matte finish. It had buildable pigmentation from mostly opaque to opaque coverage in two layers. The texture was soft, a little dusty in the pan, but it applied evenly without fallout nor did it sheer out too readily. It was easy to work with as the edges blended out nicely. This shade stayed on well before showing signs of wear.

Glammo Camo
Glammo Camo is a muted, medium-dark gray with subtle, warm undertones and a matte finish. At times–especially with other shades in the palette–it took on an almost olive tone. It had semi-opaque, buildable color coverage that applied fairly evenly and blended out without too much effort, but it could have diffused more easily. It didn’t seem too softly nor too firmly pressed into the pan so fallout wasn’t an issue. This shade stayed on nicely for seven and a half hours on me before fading noticeably.

This IMMEDIATELY brings to mind a mini ABH Subculture Palette! Since I’d be afraid to travel with Subculture, this would seem like a practical mini to get down the road.
It’s a very pretty little palette with an interesting colour story. It’s not for me as there are too many matte shades in it, but at least it isn’t in pinks, reds and oranges. A gorgeous eye look Christine.
Idk why but these snap palettes really didn’t grab my attention like they did my makeup-fiend compadres. I swatched them @Sephora and wasn’t super compelled. The attachment mechanism breaks down after enough snaps (at least the display versions, which couldn’t have been out more than a week). It doesn’t really make sense to me – a side to side snap would because then you could visually mix up the palette, but when they’re back to back? Idk.
Looks like a good rating, gorgeous look as usual, I love the colors, but.. I’m on a low buy.
Pass.
I love this color story! I think I might be able to dupe the vibes with some singles I have, so I won’t be getting it, but I’m glad to see it reviewed well!
This looks really nice and practical and talk about “affordable”! Not really the colours for me (especially that yellow) but maybe I should take a look at the others in this series (ha! like I need more small eyeshadow palettes! I’ve barely touched the ND Mini Glam and not because it isn’t lovely….)
What a cool color story! It has all of the weird mustard olive tones that I find intriguing and the shade selection is perfect for such a small palette. I’m very tempted by this one.
Maybe I’m getting palette fatigue (see what I did there?), but I feel like it’d be better to spend money on the Urban Decay On the Run mini palettes.
I swatched the neutral palette and the peach one in Sephora as those were the ones I was interested in. Just from swatching, it looked to me like the mattes were a bit chalky in texture, they didn’t apply smoothly. The shimmers were beautiful though and really nice and creamy. Instead I bought the mini Nude Natasha Denona palette and I really like it.
A B+ is good enough for me! I’m happy to spend $25 on this little gem.
Thank you for your review! I was so excited for this particular palette out of all of the Snap Shadows. 🙂
While I always seem to Initially be excited about Fenty beauty releases, I find I never put the pin in and actually purchase anything. After closely looking at swatches of all the palettes, I’ve got the territory covered, and I just don’t find these particular sets inspiring. I own a foundation and a one highlighter.. cannot put my finger on it…
Looks really flattering on you and the swatches look very good! Somehow I’m surprised as I haven’t bought any of Fenty’s eye shadow palettes (the quality and colors weren’t impressive to me).
Since there’s carmine and bismuth oxychloride, two ingredients that irritate my eyes, I can avoid these. Money. Saved.
