Too Faced Melted Villain Melted Liquified Long Wear Lipstick ($21.00 for 0.40 fl. oz.) is described as a “black plum.” It’s a blackened purple with reddish-violet undertones and a glossy, cream finish. ColourPop Feminist (P, $5.00) is more matte, darker. NYX Betrayal (P, $6.00) is lighter, more shimmery. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Pagan (P, $18.00) is cooler-toned. MAC Potent Fig (LE, $16.00) is lighter. MAC Smoked Purple (LE, $16.00) is lighter, more matte. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

It was intensely pigmented, and the color goes on evenly and smoothly–more impressive given it is a more emollient formula that could easily have turned streaky. It’s a deeper shade, and while the edges are surprisingly clean even without a lip brush, I think a lip brush or going back and cleaning-up the edge is a must for this shade. It’s comfortable to wear and is lightly hydrating over time. This shade wore well for seven and a half hours before fading noticeably, though I noticed some feathering along the upper lip line after the fifth hour of wear.

How is this formula compared to OCC lip tars? i have pagan and while i love the color, i HATE using it because it is such a pain and it’s pretty uncomfortable on my lips. if this is better, i might have to get it because i love deep, dark purple lipsticks!

I so agree! The more brands that come out with non-traditional colors, the better!!! It means I can more easily wear my purple and blue lipsticks without EVERYONE going, “is it halloween or what’s the occasion?” Sheesh. It’s about time! 😉

oh wow! I want this even though I know I can never weaar it like this! It is such perfect with that smokiness which is quite unique imo. I wonder if this can be mixed with say, occ lip tars to make a color of you liking?

This is such a cool colour. I would never rock it though (well, never say never!) – I prefer something this dark and dramatic to be a red! But I will live vicariously through all the gorgeous girls in photos I see!

Beautiful. How would you compare this shade/formula to anastasia Beverly Hills Potion liquid lipstick? Obviously the liquid lipstick would be more matte but in terms of long term wear, color, and overall performance, which would you prefer? I’m debating between the two.

It’s a lot creamier, glossier – it is more like a liquid lipstick formula that doesn’t dry down/set in the same way that liquid lipsticks like Anastasia’s formula does, so you’ll have transfer all day long, but the color still wears a long time. I find these infinitely more comfortable to wear, but you gotta keep in mind that I’m not really a fan of the liquid lipstick formulas that totally dry down/cling as much.
