Estee lauder Shameless Violet Pure Color Matte Sculpting Lipstick
Estee lauder Pure Color Matte Sculpting Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a new formula that features “rich saturated color” with a matte finish that is “luxuriously comfortable.” I bought three to try out the formula, and this post features those three. The formula is comfortable to wear with a light-medium weight consistency that is creamy and smooth with good pigmentation, though some shades are more pigmented than others. They’re more semi-matte to satin with none of the three I tried having a really flat, matte finish (like a liquid lipstick), so keep that in mind on whether it aligns with your preference for mattes. All three shades were easy to apply, comfortable to wear, and long-wearing. They reminded me of formulas like MAC’s newer Mattes, Urban Decay Matte Revolution, and NARS Audacious.
Estee lauder Shameless Violet Pure Color Matte Sculpting Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a brightened, medium-dark purple with subtle, warmer pink tones and a satin sheen. It had mostly opaque coverage that applied without dragging, but it could have applied a little more evenly. The color lasted for seven hours on me and was a little hydrating in the beginning but never drying. Kat Von D Ayesha (P, $20.00) is lighter, more muted, less glossy. MAC Matte Royal (P, $16.00) is darker, cooler. Melt Cosmetics By Starlight (P, $19.00) is lighter. Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics Rollergirl (P, $18.00) is lighter, brighter. Estee lauder Stronger Pure Color Matte Sculpting Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a slightly muted, medium-dark fuchsia-magenta with warmer undertones and a semi-matte finish. The texture of this shade was firmer and thinner compared to the other two shades, though it didn’t tug at the lips, but the resulting finish was also the closest to true matte. It had mostly opaque covoerage that applied evenly and smoothly, and it wore well for seven hours on me. It was neither drying nor hydrating. MAC Quick Sizzle (LE, $16.00) is lighter, cooler. Le Metier de Beaute Paris (P, $32.00) is lighter. Kat Von D L.U.V. (P, $20.00) is cooler, less glossy. NARS Silvia (P, $32.00) is lighter, glossier. MAC Flat Out Fabulous (P, $16.00) is lighter, warmer. Urban Decay Bittersweet (P, $22.00) is lighter, cooler. ColourPop Drive In (P, $6.00) is lighter, less glossy. Estee lauder Unattainable Pure Color Matte Sculpting Lipstick ($30.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a reddish-plum with warm undertones and a satin finish. The consistency was lightly creamy and glided on easily without tugging on the lips. It had nearly opaque pigmentation that covered well. I noticed some color seemed to slip into lip lines, but it was hard to notice from a normal viewing distance. On me, the color stayed on for almost eight hours and was neither drying nor hydrating at the end. NARS Vera (P, $32.00) is glossier. Givenchy Rose Precieux (311) (LE, $36.00) is lighter, warmer. Sorry, I don’t think I purchased that one as I bought mine from Sephora. EL’s website takes like two weeks to ship, so I don’t bother with their site as much as possible!

I probably sound lika weirdo, but I immediately thought that Estée Lauder just repackaged (is that even a word? I think you know what I mean) MAC´s matte lipsticks since they own MAC and maybe changed them ever so slightly. Now that I read that those lipsticks even feel like MACs newer mattes, I kinda feel like this confirms it for me. Again, I might sound strange, but there is something fishy about it.
They feel improved – better than MAC Mattes, as they aren’t as noticeably silicone-y in feel, so they sit better on the lips (IMO, of course)! It doesn’t feel exactly the same to me, I guess, is what I’m trying to say.
OOO Unattainable! I have a crush on this one. It kinda reminds me of Tom Ford Plum Lush, but I checked out your swatches and realized they aren’t THAT similar.

How would the Shameless Violet compare to MAC’s Heroine in terms of colour similarity and texture? I find MAC’s Heroine to be somewhat drying on me, so if Shameless Violet is more hydrating, I might pick this one up!

when you go to Sephoras website and click on the color squares, on quite a few of them it says limited edition. Stronger, commanding, volatile and a few of the others popup that way. would you be able to find out that’s correct, please.

Mmm, Shameless Violet is my jam! Back when MAC released Matte Royal, I had said how I could see using that to boost Heroine’s purple tones and keep it from going fuschia…seems like EL got the memo! This really does look like the two combined! And I also love Stronger, too! (Perhaps I had too much coffee this morning, lol!)

These look very pretty on you. I picked up Shameless Violet recently since I can’t resist a rich purple. Gorgeous shade and very workable but it has a hint too much slip for me on its own. So far I’ve worn it successfully mixed with some of the drier dupes you listed like By Starlight and Matte Royal, as well as personal favorite Illamasqua Kontrol. The slip here goes perfectly with the lack of slip on on those more traditionally matte shades. Plus each one offers a unique effect that takes the shade into Indigo territory. For sure prefer it as a mixer.
Kontrol is a really cool color — remember that one well!
It’s hard to pick a favorite Illamasqua color let alone a favorite purple lipstick for me, but Kontrol is definitely up at the top on both counts. It really is the best gray-purple in so many ways to me. It’s pretty much what I wanted Melt By Starlight to be but even better.

It’s usually from drastic changes in temperature or being too warm – “sweating” in a way.

So excited about that shade AND the fact that it performs well and looks beautiful applied! That is such a win.
